Good for him, I hope they pay up in full - out of court.

That said, and reading the article Arista, it seems that it was the attending police officers who put him in handcuffs and marched him publicly through the store - and this, after the copper declared Tim Robinson not to be threatening.

Perhaps Mr Robinson should also be suing the police because of their 'heavy handed' treatment of him?

NO I think both the store and the Police have to share the blame on this one. Imagine this happening in your local supermarket and witnessed by friends & neighbours.

Innocent or not his reputation could be irreparably damaged by this incident.

He needs to sue both parties on this one.

It is bloody embarrassing when it happens, even if you can clear it up relatively quickly. A few summers ago, we decided on a hot day to go out for a picnic, and to go to ASDA to buy some new summery clothes (shorts, t-shirt, wife got a summer dress) before we went. With the genius idea of changing in the bathroom before we left the store (after paying, obviously!). Of course, the cashier had forgotten a tag, and we set off the alarm when leaving. Try explaining to security why you've come out of the toilets wearing a full set of new clothes with tags on them :joker:. And then taking a good 5 minutes to find the receipt :(.

Lol!I worked in a clothes store many moon ago after i left school and shoplifters would regularly do this.That is quite funny,I can see why they would think you'd nicked them.

I didnt realise you could sue for this..I was once accused of nicking a mars bar and dragged through the shop with the security guy shouting at me. What made it even more ridiculous was that it was the day after my 14th bithday and in my pocket I had over 200 quid in cash(was on way to durham..was just getting a drink for on the bus). As if I would nick something that was (then) 30p :joker:

Well yes, but what has that to do with being arrested... Is he saying he's lucky he can afford to sue or lucky the police didn't just charge him regardless?
