Kinda feel for him tbh. Imagine being attracted to a certain demographic and not being able to do a thing about it because morally society deems it wrong.
Paedophiles who don't ever act out on their sexual desires I feel deserve a huge amount of respect.
Though saying that this guy says he's attracted to women of all ages so at least he can have a decent sexual life.

I wouldn't say "respect" when to act on any of those "attractions" would be rape and ruining a childs whole life, not violating an innocent child deserves respect now? I would call it being a normal decent human being......

Well it's easy for me and most people because I'm not attracted to little kids but if someone is and they know they can't do anything about it because it's wrong then yeh I think they should be respected for never acting out on it.
I don't know how sexuality works for Paedophiles so I don't know if they all can have sex with people over the legal age limit but if they are only attracted to kids that means they won't have a sexual life at all. I can only liken it to how my sexuality is now and not being allowed to do anything with women ever.
Of course that is a moot point if all Paedophiles are additionally attracted to adults of the same gender but I don't know that, maybe that's something I need educated on.

I agree with the NSPCC, prevention is better than just waiting for abuse to occur. If there's a way for Peadophiles to curb their urges then I'm all for it. Prevention is a better option than picking up the pieces after an abuse.

I would have a certain amount of sympathy for a person who is attracted to children but never acts on it if they have no attraction what so ever to legal people but I wouldn't say respect. Plenty of paedophiles are married and do have relationships with adults so I'm not sure if it's the case that they can't have sex with adults at all

Why can't you have respect? If you were told you couldn't have sex with men at all ever, would you consider that an easy task?
I did a quick google about it and the few articles I've skimmed through mention there can be non-exclusive and exclusive sexual interest in pre-pubescent children so maybe some people are only interested in young uns.
What's interesting though is the recurring themes of sexual orientation v psychological disorder crop up, apparently people seem to be up in arms about which one it is.

Because I don't think not violating another human, more specifically a child in this case deserves respect, whether the adult concerned can help their attraction or not. I mean do you think a man deserves respect for not raping a woman who he finds attractive? cos it's the same thing in my mind. Obviously it wouldn't be easy to never be able to have sex with men again but would not being allowed to do it turn me into a rapist? Absolutely not

I would agree that they need help, and those who seek help should be encouraged without prejudice. Yes, they have the potential to be an offender, but the fact they have not acted on their impulses and suggested voluntarily they are flagged up is worthy of respect, if only due to the deep shame felt and regular monitoring this admittance would cause.

Very inspiring, we need to be more open about this topic so more people like this gentleman feel confident enough to come forward and seek help. Instead of making good decent people chastised by society, and make them feel so little self worth that they dont care who they hurt.

Lots of programmes now geared towards trying to make us sympathetic with these people. Why? Because there's lots of them among higher authorities? EW :yuk:

Anyone trying to brand this as a rights movement is very wrong, as paedophilia is not a sexuality. If he wants to find a cure good luck, hopefully others will follow and children will not be raped.

Recorded it. Will watch it in the early hours and reserve comment until then.
Not even watching, definitely don't agree that people need to be respected for not sexually abusing children, disagree that it's a sexuality and certainly couldn't disagree any more with this statement below.

So much wrong with this one sentence I don't even know where to start.

If they haven't offended they're innocent though, it's a compulsion and a bit like a sexuality as it's your 'type' :/ a very wrong one nobody would ever deny that.
But like a schizophrenic that has never acted on the voices, or the psychopath who doesn't kill they deserve treatment, who knows if they are identified given support and or medication it could reduce offending?

I am a survivor of child sexual abuse so yeah my opinion has weight.
As many evil people as there are out there i do believe there is a proportion that wouldnt abuse if they didnt feel so ostracised by society. Every child matter so we need to do the best to help this proportion.

No one said they weren't innocent though but they still certainly don't deserve 'respect' for NOT carrying out whatever horrendous thoughts they have in their head. IMO. In all honesty I would be hard pushed to even find any sympathy for them.

I'm sorry to hear that but everyone has private things that have happened in their life, it doesn't give your opinion any more weight than anyone elses tbf, I disagree with your comment above because I personally wouldn't describe a paedophile or someone that has those urges but never carried them out as good decent person.
