whilst the whole "he's being attacked by the media because they're owned by the elite like the government!!" angle is a little bit conspiracy-theory, it's interesting how little voice is actually given to the working class and yet anyone who's emerged from it to some level of success (and, therefore, voice) is immediately trampled upon as a champagne socialist.

Oh I dare arista.

He should stick to the case in discussion and that is the injustice surrounding social cleansing in the capital... Not Mr Brands living arrangements.
He is assisting those who need help as local MPs are meant to do, funnily nobody ever interrogates them about their 2nd and 3rd homes do they? :/

[ He was asked: “Part of the problem is the super-rich buying property
in London, isn’t it? What kind of rent are you paying?”
Brand, worth an estimated £15million, said angrily:
“I’m not interested in talking to you about my rent, mate. You’re a snide.”
The comedian claims wealthy tax-avoiding property developers drive up London house prices and rents.
But he rents his London home — which has three bedrooms, two bathrooms
and a roof terrace with views across the capital — from off-shore company KKY PTY Ltd. ]

No do not be silly
This is Brand not able to answer
a question.
His Anger at that Irish Reporter,
who worked for BBC London,
and now works at Ch4HD News
is his problem.

If Brand has anger at MP's - thats good
but a reporter - then it back fires.

It was an irrelevant question though...
what a waste of an interview to answer questions based on his house, that isn't the issue is it?
How is MP Richard Benyons conflict of interest and profiteering isn't the issue here?

Typical isn't it when somebody tries to stand up for their fellow human and starts asking awkward questions, they suddenly find themselves the victim of ridiculous press stories like this.

So the Man is successful, so what.....he has a moral conscience and wants to speak out against the establishment, Good.

So only poor people can speak out against poverty, a successful , wealthly comedian/Film actor should just shut up and keep taking the money whilst joining the elites.

Good on Russell Brand for wanting to highlight some of these issues.

who has so many Backing him

Kizzy
04-12-2014, 07:00 AM
So many backing him..who are backing him? It's another brick in the wall of the increasing social divide. You can't choose where the fall, you either have or you do not have.
Those who have and argue the case for those less fortunate are for me doing it from a ethical standpoint. I can see why others with sway would seek to discredit him, he is rocking the boat and highlighting issues that the establishment would prefer the rest of the UK were ignorant to.
What I'm struggling to understand is those who have very little but still feel it is ok for the establishment to strip rights and use the media to silence those who speak out in such a divisory way.

So wait, where exactly is the massive HYPOCRITE front page headline splashed over Bob Geldof's mug? Or is that OK because he advocates for brown people in dusty countries from his expensive home?

Surely, until he is living in a mud Hut drinking dirty water, his message is an utter sham!

It's been said plenty already but here's the truth of it: if you are struggling to make it in Britain, you can speak out for everyone but no one is listening. If you do "make it" and try to speak out for those who are struggling, you will be shot down as a hypocrite. The long and short of it: the press is controlled by people whose interests lie in not giving the vast majority of people in Britain any sort of voice.

brand speaks out endlessly not on behalf of "the poor" but for all normal citizens who are oppressed by the landed elite (yes, all of us, whether we care to admit it or not). He should be applauded for it but the press without fail is waiting to tear him down.

The suggestion that he can't or shouldn't say anything unless he gives up all of his own money and influence is ridiculous and circular. Of he gave up his celebrity lifestyle he would fade into obscurity and go unheard, like every other person who believes in social justice. A mouse desperately squeaking at a hurricane.

Unbelievable, the Sun branding someone a hypocrite.
What a disgrace this vile publication is, after its rotten slander as to the Liverpool fans after Hillsborough, after its sister paper the News of the World was hauled before the courts for more wrongdoing, how this thing is allowed to still be published is beyond me.

Even moreso how it got another Sunday paper is also beyond me too, unless its maybe a bit of payment for its support of the Conservative party.
AFter all after the budget, it also stated Cameron had taken on board all the Sun's policies.

Russell Brand stood his ground, the reporter was out of order and it really is sickening now again, even after the inquiry into the press, how journalists can get away with just about anything still.
Channel 4 also seem to be following a dubious agenda too of late.
It is why I buy no papers,I read the Independent but the Mail and the Sun, I wouldn't soil my hands touching either.

Sun poll? :joker: awesome for those who find the political opinions of people with an IQ of under 80 to be particularly enlightening.

Understanding what Brand has to say requires intelligence because he rarely dumbs it down for the lowest common denominator. Therefore, it is completely unsurprising that the majority of British people don't understand what he has to say.

Sun poll, with likely biased and strongly loaded leading comments at the start of the questions asked of people.

This comic should be on the fiction stands in stores and newsagents not ever taken seriously.
It is the most obnoxious, extreme, vile and prejudiced paper in existence, closely followed by another waste of space, the Daily Mail.
