According to The Mirror, the Irish actor - who won a BAFTA in 2012 for his performance as Sherlock's nemesis Moriarty - has been lined up to play a villain in the follow-up to Skyfall.

A so-called "insider" apparently told the tabloid: "Andrew was hand-picked for a role in the new Bond movie after film bosses loved his star turn in Sherlock. Casting directors thought he was perfect to play a baddie and they wanted to use his existing Sherlock profile - and amp it up to the next level."

The title and cast of the 24th Bond film will be officially announced tomorrow (December 4) at 11am GMT. Fans will be able to watch the announcement from Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire live via a web stream at 007.com. The web stream will begin at 10.50am and is expected to wrap up by around 11.15am.

Production on the 24th Bond film will then begin on Monday (December 8) at Pinewood Studios, with director Sam Mendes returning to shoot his follow-up to 2012's Skyfall, the Bond franchise's biggest hit ever.

The 24th Bond film will also mark Daniel Craig’s fourth outing as 007. He is expected to be joined by his Skyfall castmates Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Ralph Fiennes (M), Ben Whishaw (Q) and Rory Kinnear (Bill Tanner).

It has also been reported that double Oscar winner Christoph Waltz will appear in the film as a classic Bond villain. Other actors linked to the film - but not yet confirmed - include 12 Years A Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor, Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista and Blue Is the Warmest Colour actress Léa Seydoux.

The 24th Bond film is set for release in the UK on October 23 next year before opening in US cinemas a couple of weeks later on November 6.

He's a pretty great Moriarty (if you can look past the odd little voice-breaks), so this sounds good :spin2:
