[A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "We can confirm that
a 48-year-old man voluntarily attended a north London police station
on Tuesday, 2 December where he was arrested,
following an allegation of rape in central London.
"He has been bailed to a date in early January 2015 pending further enquiries."]

He's been cleared but because the media released his name, he'll never be looked at the same. His career is most likely ruined now

I dont care what party someone is from, but this is so wrong.

The media makes me so mad how they always release the names of the people, before they are found guilty/not guilty or whatever.

I think he is right that suspects names should not be revealed.
If there is now no evidence against him to go forward for a prosecution then the 'false' accuser ought to be named as he has been, and had to see his name dragged through the mud of the gutter media.

I posted this last week - and this case just proves how right I am:

"Surely it is now a matter of some urgency for the law to be changed in all Democratic countries, where, if a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, then his/her identity should not be made public until - at the very least - the most rigorous of pre-charge investigations have been carried out into the merit of the allegations.

Once an identity is made public in such a manner as this, it does not matter if the person accused is comprehensively cleared of any wrongdoing and no charges are therefore brought, there are always those so ready to still believe in that person's guilt, and no one totally escapes the stigma of being wrongly accused.

Even now there are considerable numbers of people who still 'believe' that Sir Cliff Richard was "guilty of something" because "there's no smoke without fire".

Absolutely spot on, it is time things were changed and not only to protect the 'possible' innocent who is the suspect but to stop the witchhunting by the gutter press too.
