Police shot and killed a disturbed man inside one of Brooklyn’s most prominent synagogues Tuesday morning, apparently after he burst in saying ‘kill the jews’ and then stabbed someone there, sources said.

The bloodshed happened at the world headquarters of the Lubavitch Hasidic sect at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights shortly after 1 a.m., sources said.

Calvin Peters, 50, had walked into the basement of the synagogue where people were praying, sources said.

According to police sources, Peters asked for a copy of the Bible, then briefly walked out, sources said.

He returned and stabbed an Israeli student in the side of the head for an unknown reason.

Just shows you the type of thing USA cops have to deal with. Feck knows what the other Jewish men were doing standing there waiting to be stabbed?

This dumbass was either mentally deranged or wanted to commit suicide by cop, either way there was only going to be one outcome.

Personally I would have shot him much earlier, probably after he picked the knife up again after being told 50 times to drop the knife.

The policeman gave him so many chances to end this differently but I think he was always going down the martyrdom road.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

..I don't understand the association with any other case here/there is no association..with this they were good police officers who did a good job...they didn't shoot him within seconds of arriving without giving him a chance to drop his weapon like the Tamir Rice case...they didn't shoot him when he was unarmed/wounded and too much of a distance away from anyone to be any threat to them...police officers do, do a difficult and dangerous job and there are many, many very good police officers but that doesn't mean that every police officer is good, that every police officer does a good job or that there are no police officers who abuse their position or are not guilty of racial or any other prejudiced profiling ...because if that was the case, then it would be the only profession in the world where there was no 'bad' in it...it's all individual cases and not the police force as a whole...and to ignore that and dismiss it because they have a dangerous job to do so whatever they do is ok and justified, whatever the circumstances of the incidents just seems a really odd way of looking at it...

I still find it hard to believe that even in this instance shoot to kill and not to disarm is acceptable.

Until the USA look seriously at their Right to Bear Arms, the police have to be free to shoot to kill. It's no good sitting in the UK thinking things are the same there. They are not.

The 2nd amendment also talks of a 'well regulated militia'. Ask any NRA nutcase and they will tell you the amendment exists so they can protect themselves against the state as well as other civilians. Here is crazy Alex Jones telling Piers Morgan.

if I lived out in say Wyoming miles from anywhere I would have myself a big gun but if I were in Seinfeld's apartment in NYC I would probably not have a gun.

If I lived out in Boulder Colorado I would have a gun but if I were in San Francisco I would not have a gun.
