Are you auditioning?

Will anyone be auditioning? Where? Will you be old enough? Will you audition online?

I'm in a dilemma actually 'cos I'll be 18 in March, and I think the auditions are before that so will I be able to audition? If so, I will be :)

Lol, I wish there was one in Penzance as that wouldn't be too far away from me.
I don't know whether I'm auditioning. If I go to Reading University I might as that's quite near London where the main auditions are held. That will be for BB9 anyway.

Jennie's birthday is in March and the only auditions last year in March were on the 4th and 5th in London.

I'm sure they will allow you to audition if you are 18 by May 2007. Especially since they are doing the online ones also.

Good luck to everyone from the forum who is auditioning for BB8. And if you get on, you'll be on my site :)

Just to clear this up once and for all: i have seen the official Celebrity Big Brother press pack, and it says on the Big Brother 8 auditions page that all applicants must be 18 by the summer of 2007. If you click here you can see more BB8 audition information (http://www.bbspy.co.uk/bb8auditions) (extracted directly from the press pack).

I'm off tomorrow morning, so I shall keep you posted on what I get up to. Hopefully it will be similar to last year - pushing yourself forward in a small group, then video diary for 1 minute, if you get picked. And then back the next day for a group discussion followed by a diary room interview and brief bit of selling.

I'm going again this year.

Last year, i got there at 9 i finished at 7 on the night, you get put into a group of 10 then one by one you get called out to the front and you have to talk about yourself or anything really, then out of the 10 people 6 go through to the next stage, so i got stamped and then went up stairs to fill out some forms, then there are 6 rooms which each of the six people go in, then in front of the camara you have 1 mintue to say why you should be picked after that 1 mintue you go through to another room and then 2 of you go through, i got picked along with this other guy, then you go to another room get your picture taken and then fill out the 3 hour booklet, i finished mine around 7pm, then you have to go back on the sunday to have 5/10 mintue interview again in front of the camara, before that though you get put into a room with other people and just have a normal discussion or debate about things and your being filmed on camara again, then i got called to go and talk to BB and she just asked me questions etc.. was fun!

am yet to audtion later in the month but people are saying from glasgow it is a different process this year! can anyone confimr this or not! thanx

Cocteau8
07-01-2007, 08:03 PM
It was a bit different. There was an initial warm up group for 10 or so minutes - 2 teams doing different games, and then when one of the smaller groups had gone through their initial selection process one of the teams replaced them. there was then 10/15 minutes of games/getting to know you and the others etc, followed by the 2 production assistants moving away and deciding whose hands they were going to stamp. Last year this group session was shorter and there was more of a chance to push yourself forward when they were stamping hands.

My advice to anyone going is to dress slightly differently or be a hairdresser! There was no way in our group they could have distinguished one from another, but these seemed to be distinguishing factors - even wearing a suit, shirt and tie!

and if you dont get though are you allowed to try again

Cocteau8
08-01-2007, 12:09 AM
There was the initial warm up group, which was in addition to last year, and then 3 smaller groups, as with last year, but these lasted longer and involved more activities - a few people left the queue after watching wht was going on, but when you're involved in it it's fun, just very disappointing when everyone is asked to stick out their hand and yours is bypassed.

People can go to other auditions if they want. I've just registered with E4 to see what the online audition involves, but I think I shall have to wait until BB9 for another go.

THanks for the info from the press pack. I am also wanting to audition but am 18 in march. I have actually tryed to e-mail channel 4, and they told me you have to be 18 at the time of audition. However there seems to be a lot of stuff floating about, such as the press pack, suggesting that you can indeed audition as long as your 18 before the show starts, which is what i personally thought it was anyway.

I really wish i could get some proper confirmation. Where did you get this press pack from? did you get from channel four due the site being popular?

The best way to audition, is to unscript yourself, and don't look to copy a previous housemate. I am auditioning in Manchester this year, and for those who know me on the forum from various thing/scuffles/Vbbs, i've worked up quite a storm, but the games don't begin when you enter the house, you have to play them to actually get there.

I'm a gameplayer and I'm all up for a laugh and a bit of fun, but my point will be proved, and I won't back down.

Manchester Roadhouse here I come 3rd Feb.

you would have to be mad to want to go in there, especially now! BB exposes people very easily, & the weak ones get lead astray into controversy or picked on. & there is no real support from BB, look at whats happening now, they are loving the attention, at the exspense of what?!?! very very few people leave the house with credit, but at the end of the day, if you think you can handle what BB throws at you then go a head.

Well, i'm planning on hopefully auditioning and my angle when i go is that i'm not a stupid fame chaser and that i want to go in there to manipulate people to win and speak my mind. i'm sort of a grumpy old man in a teenagers body. I've always agreed with the dereks and sandys of the house.

That's just me basically... winning formula?

You should remember that.

It was Dublin today! I have been getting updates from the auditions from the radio throughout the day.

Rory, the reporter, you may know his from Shipwrecked 2006, was out talking to some of the auditionees. Most people said the usual 'i have a great personality', 'I'm good looking', 'i can make people laugh'. He said that there wasn't any really crazy characters but there was some arrogant men.

There was one person who, just going by what they said when asked 'What would you bring to the house?', i think woukd make a good housemate. They said they would show people that Finglas has more to offer then Spiral! Which is true!

There should be some stroys in the papers today or tomorrow - Ill let's know.

OK

The expression I got from a famous court case of IIRC Warner Brother Versus Sony

Sony brought out one of the first VCR's so people could record programmes of of the televison. Warner Brothers, (assuming that was the film studios) sued in the US courts claiming that bringing out technology that allowed people to record say movies was an infringement of their copyright and would cause people not to go out to the movies thus depriving them of revenues.

I can not remember why, but ultimately Sony successfully defended the action and Warner Brothers lost. In the years that would follow, because of Sony's pioneering of the VCR a lot of revenue was generated for the film industry from the sale of videos, including Warner Brothers. Had Warner Brothers won, that would never have happened.

So the lesson from this court case was "Sometimes not getting what you want can be the best thing to happen to you"
