What a non event this is, time these things were done away with.
That is just my view as to how I feel about them.

Silly reasons in the main for them and some dubious recipients too.

I like this, it's very British. Aside from the actors and sports people (well done Sir John Hurt...) it's nice to see ordinary people recognised for their efforts, like the gay rights and Hillsborough campaigners.

people forget that you have to be put up for these gongs so its not really a merit thing as such

Sheridan Smith has got great hooters so at least that is well deserved :clap1:

This exactly - no more to be said really. (apart from the fact that John Hurt's award was well overdue)

For the most part, the list is fast becoming a joke now. A few deserving, but mainly many just rubbish when there are way more deserving. As for Esther Rantzen, well, a few years back I might have agreed with hers, but since the whole Saville stuff has come out and she blatantly admitted she nigh on knew about it, yet what did she try and do about it? And her an advocate for Children's needs, childline etc; She thrives on publicty and keeping in with the beeb imho. Very well done to John Hurt though, wayyyy overdue, that one imo.

I'm sorry but what have James Corden or Sheridan Smith done to deserve an award like this? Like seriously, what?

:joker:

I still associate Sheridan Smith with Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and James Corden with unfunny and ****, I can't believe they've been honoured

It's ridiculous. Sheridan Smith is a good actress but she's hardly had the biggest career to deserve an honour like this.

I can only think a lot of people declined them.

Yeah I agree - she's great but she's only really been taken seriously in the last few years and she's not really played any career defining roles as far as I'm aware.
