I know a few people with it, basically you have to have a gluten free diet, there are a range of gluten free products on the market including gluten free communion wafers! Biscuits cakes, bread, gravy etc

:o

Well that would suck arse! Number 1 I love food and number 2 Gluten free stuff costs like double.

That must proper limit their social activities.

I have a horrible image of living the rest of my life on vegetables and gluten free crackers lol.

Do you mind me asking what your symptoms are?

Mine has been severe weight loss (from 11 st 9 to 9 st.5) which sucks.
The usual running to the toilet extravanganza.
Mouth ulcers.
sickness.
Cramps.
Acid reflux.

I immediately thought the dreaded aids (probably overdramatic but Philadelphia is my fav film so its like one of my worst fears!) but thank god I get tested every 6 months and im std free!

It does sound like I must be allergic to certain foods perhaps that cause flare ups but I don't understand how this can come on in my late twenties.

Really?

Have the meds got you back to a relatively normal diet and weight ect.

I cant see me giving up alcohol I know that sounds bad but everyone I know in my social circle goes to the pub and I don't wanna be an Eastenders character who drinks juice in a wine glass.

Look familiar? it's an indicator of coeliac, and your weight loss is due to you not absorbing any nutrients from your food, you'll prob get some iron, vit D and calcium tabs from your doc to boost you as soo as you get a diagnosis. You should take a multi vit now even though with the bowel trouble it doesn't seem like you're absorbing much , bet you feel rubbish? :(
Did they take a biopsy when they dis the endoscopy? That will confirm, having a helicobactor test might be wise too.
It's an auto immune condition and can crop up at any time so don't worry, it will mean a complete diet overhaul though you'll be surprised where the pesky gluten crops up. There are lots of information sites and forums for info so don't worry.
I have really bad acid reflux and was on omeprazole now something else, I had helicobactor which was treated an had an endoscopy last fri with biopsy...

Just to add gluten is in oats, rye, barley, wheat and other grain so bread and pasta will make you feel really bad, don't drop any food groups though until you've finished your tests.

Yup that's it! Us and our kissable mouths eh lol. Yeah don't feel my usual self like sleeping more which is odd as im the biggest insomniac ever.

Yeah they took biopsies from below and above it was not a pleasant experience! See ive allways been told multi vitamins are bad even by the gp theres so much conflicting information.

Think you've got it bang on though with everything you're describing, even if it is this and I have to change my diet atleast I know what it is finally.

Did you get sedated for the endoscopy? I just had the mouth spray which literally made me feel like I had a 12 foot long tongue. Is this like a lifelong diagnosis though or can it go away seeing as fast as its come on?

My friends seem to live normal lives once you identify what foods you have to buy gluten free, mainly wheat based products, so meat and two veg will stll be on the menu :D:

yeah back to wot I was about 11 stone and I had gone down to about 9 stone.
Some food makes it worse things like pizza and its diff to what u have but same symptoms and they told me food doesn't make any diff, it does though as does stress. I know what u mean about drinking, im not a big drinker but over the xmas I went out one afternoon for food, then my mates stayed out, I wasn't drinking and everyone started getting on my nerves lol so I left. even one or two drinks is better than none though lol
before being diagnosed I cud barely eat, I literally cud not eat without going to the loo, I had ulcers too and ended up having my teeth out but I had bad teeth anyway.

I totally get what you mean with the drinking when you're not lol you properly get another perspective on what you look like when you're on the razz and just cant relate so leaving is the best option.

Sadly my teeth have been affected to...Im so vain so this is like a punch in the gut. 2 cavities to be fixed next week YAY! Paying out of my arse to make sure they're the white ones as im assuming the NHS still fill peoples mouths with black alliminium to patch up a filling?

So test results....Inconclusive: More biopsies needed which I assume is a another butt and deep throat rape by that hosepipe! on a positive if it were anything serious I would have been told but still the annoyance of waiting is unbearable plus im gagging for a curry...IN MY MOUTH.

I was sedated yes maybe do that next time? you'll need to take someone to help you get home though. You're not fully out of it but I thought 45 mins was 5 mins so you're in an altered state :)
Good quality vits in liquid form rather than tabs could give you a better chance of absorbing some goodness to save you basically running on empty I would've thought? Have you had bloods to check levels? my D3 was 23 (significantly deficient) so was put on 20,000mg for the next 8 weeks! :/
Your test was inconclusive? that's annoying still waiting on mine.
If we have it it's for life, my sis says it's only a pain when socialising as most places can't guarantee anything on the menu as gluten free except salad ( no dressing) or jacket potato.
You'll have to learn a new way of cooking your favourite dishes, no more jars and packet sauces or ready meals... It's not all bad, you might turn into a gluten free Jamie Oliver
