View Full Version : Katie Hopkins Saying she doesn't like ginger people...

Saying she doesn't like ginger people is just as bad as saying she doesn't like black people. So why was she even allowed on the show, yet someone who said the N word several years ago was ejected.
(I'm not promoting racism at all, just saying that disliking people for being ginger is just as bad).

I do think she should have been brought up about that, was quite offensive especially since ginger people are often the brunt of mean jokes.

Shouldn't have been allowed in IMO
Who cares? She makes me laugh

Yeah, she can make all sorts of arguments about why she doesn't like the fat, lazy, unemployed people out there, but hating someone for their genetics is just wrong

How is hating ginger got anything to do with being Racist?

I was only using it as an example. I was merely saying that it is just as bad as racism. Being ginger and being black are both things that cannot be helped. Would also be just as bad if she said she hated all men.

As a ginger (ah the shame of admitting it D:) I've never quite understood why insulting someone's hair colour (something genetic/can't be helped) is really cool and funny and top quality banter m8 that is broadcast live to the nation on prime time tv all the time, yet insulting someone's skin colour (something genetic/can't be helped) is horrific and should never be done ever. Surely promoting any form of discrimination should be looked down upon in an equal manner? Yes, it's a great laugh hurting one persons feelings but hurting another persons feelings for essentially the same reason is terrible. :nono:
However in this particular situation it seems that Katie insults anyone and everyone for whatever reason pops into her head first so I don't think anyone should really take offence. :p she almost certainly doesn't believe anything she says, it's all just an act for this character she's created of herself.

Gingers rule.....
I think Katie has been watching too much Southpark
Katie gets away with "hating" ginger people because they have not gone to the government and cried every time someone calls them a bad name. Similarly Scots have been the subject of racist jokes by English for ever, and nothing ever happens.
As a ginger Scot I personally couldn't care less what Katie thinks as I don't value her opinion. People like her that need to resort to such statements usually do so because of their own inadequacies.

I'm a big believer of freedom of speech, but it should be that all groups of people should be allowed to be mocked if that's the case, not certain groups being picked out over others.
Whether it's an act or not, if she has to use insults to get noticed, then she's not much is she, just an eejit. I wish she would fade into obscurity.

Katie makes her money by insulting people. In order to do that she needs to insult people that can't/won't fight back.
She insults fat people, red haired people, the unemployed, how people name their kids and what people go to college to do. These are all "safe" trigger areas as there are already enough prejudices against these sorts of people already. So she can say what she wants, not get into legal trouble and make money off her behaviour.
She doesn't have the conviction to tackle race or religion because these are issues that have real meaning and would land her in actual legal hot water and kill off her "career".
She tries her best to sound educated and intelligent, but the reality is that she's a media hungry bully.

However silly it may sound to some, there are immature pricks out there who bully people for things as trivial as, for example, having ginger hair. I'm pretty sure people who've experienced crap like that would care that this silly bitch is being paid to encourage it on TV.
Nevermind the fact that it's beyond embarrassing for a grown adult to say "I don't like ginger people".

Let's face it, natural redheaded women are the hottest beings in existence, she just jelly.
What ? since when has ginger been a race? the same time as a poppadom
It's comparable to a degree, as redheads cannot help their genetics no more than a black person can help being black, but it isn't as bad. Last I checked ginger people weren't enslaved for being ginger some hundred years ago

Nobody said they were. That doesn't make different ways of insulting people for the way they look any better.

Pretty sure on white people this is a slight sign of ginger gene lol

Yeah but theres a difference if your delibarerately trying to cause offence & cant even back up or reason your "opinions". As horrible as she is, i dont mind her fat people or name opinions as she can back them up & everybody thinks differently. But she just said the ginger thing pointlessly & theres no reason to say that. Just as bad as racism imo.

Well not a "gene" exactly but there are 4 pigments for your hair and you get 2. I have brown and black. My sister has brown and orange, giving her the ginger pigment. So, like... the ginger gene LOL!

I think that saying it can be very offensive, being ginger is something someone is born with, just like the colour of their skin and to discriminate against someone because of that is not right.
The only reason racism is much worse is because the stigma attached to it. Gingers are often mocked, but I still think it's wrong. It has the same premise, they are being discriminated on something they were born with and something they did not choose.
If you say, "well they can dye their hair and change it from ginger, a person can't change their skin" then firstly, em Michael Jackson and secondly, why should they have to change their hair colour to avoid mockery?
Katie is a vile women, and does things for attention. She is a pathetic low-life. With no morals and certainly no class.

Why should people have to dye their hair to avoid mockery? It's a joke. It's just a hair colour and no one should be discriminated because of it.
If your child was ginger and got bullied in school, how would you feel? Would you say, aw it's ok I'll dye your hair and the pain will go away? What kind of lesson is that?
Discrimination is WRONG, no matter what form.

I'm tired of this "Discrimination Top Trumps" that people seem to be playing. It shouldn't be a matter of "Well, _____ is worse than ____". Prejudice and discrimination is dangerous in all of it's forms.

To be clear.I have nothing against ginger people,Or anyone.Bullying is wrong.I don't see it as bad as racism though. As someone said earlier.Ginger people did'nt endure years of slavery.I think people who mock ginger people are in the same vain as those who mock people with glasses or fat people at school,Bullies yes but racist bullies no.

I never said it was racism. Ginger is not a race. But discrimination is the same.
The black people alive today never endured any slavery, their ancestors did. Yes that was wrong, but I believe any discrimination, no matter what form is the same.
It makes a person feel worthless and low. Racism is only seen as worse because of the stigma and the media.
All discrimination is as bad as each other.

Is she though? I thought she was "real" and "honest". You can't pick and choose when she's joking.
I'm a red head and I must admit the first thing I asked when my son was born was "is he ginger". I really didn't want a ginger boy (boys get more **** than girls). I didn't get much **** about my hair growing up (mainly because I was a bit of a scrapper) but I didn't want him to face the name calling etc over a genetic inheritance....but do you know what? My boy is gorgeous.....I am terribly biased but he truly is....

Tbh, it doesn't matter what children are born with. Kids always pick on something. They always find something to tease about.
If not the hair colour, the shape of the nose, or weight, or ears, or clothes/glasses etc etc. That's kids.
