Is it an Ofcom thing due to the complaints last year or is it just a stupid gimmicky thing?

I think its a bit of a tongue in cheek way of covering their arses from the Ofcom brigade.

Isn't it just instead of having the continuity announcer having to do it beforehand?

I've never noticed a beware?
EDIT: OH. I think I know what you're talking about. (ignore me)
Has to be an Ofcom thing. Not that it'll stop the dicks complaining.

I wonder whether it's a genuine thing to cover their arses or if they've added it as a tongue in cheek joke

I think it's just because the continuity announcer's stopped doing them.
