Big Brother: A New Age
Welcome to this new project of mine. Big Brother has had a long line of "eye logos" since 2001, but never anything that could be used on a longer period of time without getting old. In this project it is all new. The logo and the show will be refreshed and the House has move location from Elstree to a completely new compound.

While the eye will still be used, the logo is refreshed and the middle of the eye will be the focus.

Alongside Big Brother are brand new shows, with the logos revealed alongside their respective studios. Enjoy!

It's really good but very similar to a project conor did in 2009.

Ah, I see. Granted the logo looks very similar but hopefully the stuff I've done will be completely unique. The idea came about by looking at Big Brother Australia. Remember their 2003/4 themed titles and the Channel 10 logo? That's where it's come from.

It also came around because this would be extremely flexible for Channel 5 to use for branding when it comes to their logo. But of course, I'm not doubting that it looks similar because it really does. Hopefully what comes next will be unique and everything will be up to a high standard.

Wow jarrod that's a very good take on what the logo could be like if they didn't use the eye logo :)

Good start though like Sam I was reminded of Conor's logo. It's no surprise though people get similar ideas around here.

Only thing I don't like is the Celebrity logo - don't get why it effectively includes the old logo as part of the design. It certainly doesn't benefit from it.

Yeah, I understand what you mean and I appreciate your feedback! I'll go back and try a tweaked design. I'll see what I can come up with.

Update time! Here is how I would schedule Big Brother...

http://i.imgur.com/C4ot816.png

Big Brother: Highlights Show
Monday – Friday, Sunday at 9pm on Channel 5

Channel 5 airs a nightly highlights show which show the past 24 hours inside the Big Brother House. I suggest that this change to a Monday – Friday and Sunday event, meaning that there would be no episode of Big Brother on Saturday. The highlights on Monday – Thursday would air as a regular 60 minute episode. On Friday, the highlights are placed in the eviction show (More details of which are below). The highlights would be as stripped back as possible and show the key moments that viewers must see to understand the Housemates development. There will be limited narration from Marcus Bentley.

On Sunday, the highlights show would be extended to 90 minutes and give highlights from Friday and Saturday in the House – which could potentially be a ratings booster as Friday and Saturday tend to be eventful days in the House. The show would also air in a fixed slot throughout its run. This would be 9pm on Channel 5, bringing the show centre of the prime time schedule for the channel.

Big Brother: Live Eviction
Friday at 9pm and 10:30pm on Channel 5

Big Brother's live evictions need to be one of the big events of the week in television. Emma Willis will return to host the live shows of Big Brother. Instead of having a 90 minute show, I suggest that Channel 5 break up the show into two parts. One 60 minute show at 9pm and a shorter 45 minute show at 10:30pm. The first show will include the eviction result, eviction reactions from the House and highlights from Thursday. The second show would include the eviction and the interview with the evicted Housemate.

Emma Willis would return as the main host of Big Brother. I also suggest stripping back the eviction shows. Instead of hosting the entire live show outside with a large crowd, bring the first show indoors with just Emma and a small studio audience, and making the eviction announcements inside. The second show would be hosted outside the Big Brother House.

Big Brother: Housemates Unlocked
Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10pm on Channel 5
Instead of having a nightly edition of Big Brother's Bit on the Side, I suggest cutting back the show and renaming it to Housemates Unlocked. The show will only air three nights a week for 60 minutes– mainly after key events in the House, nominations, shopping tasks and the evictions. This show will have a very small studio audience, celebrity guests and psychological analysis from professionals.

Big Brother: Live From The House
Nightly at 11pm on Channel 5

Instead of a nightly spin-off, I suggest including episodes of live streaming from the House in the regular schedule. The episodes on Monday – Thursday and Sunday would last for 60 minutes, the episode on Friday for 75 minutes , and Saturday 30 minutes.

Big Brother: Revealed
Daily at 6pm on Channel 5
I suggest that to compensate for the loss of Big Brother's Bit on the Side, Channel 5 produce a daily 30 minute programme that is just one presenter and no audience, informing viewers of the biggest stories from the House.

Big Brother: Online

Big Brother's Bit on the Web
Daily 15 minute segments on the Big Brother Website

As we are losing Bit on the Side, again another segment of the programme will be taken and moved online. The digital part of BOTS with viewers reactions and phone-ins will be moved and will feature all the latest reactions about what has happened in the House, viewers phoning in, and a special celebrity guest to tell --- what they think of the events.

Big Brother: Diary Room Uncut
Sunday on the Big Brother Website

A special 15 minute show every Sunday which will show the best unseen bits from the Big Brother Diary Room.

Liking that Jarrod - sensible scheduling and I've always felt the low rated Saturday show (half of which seems to recap the eviction) would work better incorporated into a longer Sunday show. 90 minutes wouldn't be a problem for a regular show - I'm a Celeb do it regularly and the ratings for BOTS show that a good chunk of the C5 audience is willing to stick around more than an hour.

Also for all the good BB5 did to the BBUK franchise one thing it really did mess up was the evictions. From BB1-4 the crowd was never on site until the second show, and didn't need to be either. I've always said the eviction shows were much better when it was Davina talking directly to the viewer at home rather than trying to entertain the baying mob, and things like properly chatting with the friends and family, going into the camera runs and even into the house itself (e.g. into bedrooms while HMs were locked in the living area) just made the eviction show an actual "eviction show".

Thank you Brekkie! I'm glad you agree with my scheduling. With the eviction crowds, they would be brought into the compound during the half an hour break between shows and then the exterior used. Before that, the interior studio would be used. This works too because I have a new stage added to the exterior where interviews can take place.

The New Compound

I decided that for this project, I wanted to challenge myself and move away from the Elstree compound, and complete my own unique compound.

Big Brother: Housemates Unlocked

Big Brother: Housemates Unlocked is a brand new spin-off show that will air on Channel 5 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10pm. Hosted by Emma Willis on Monday and Wednesday, and Rylan Clark on Friday, it will focus on relationships and events in the House, mainly after key events in the House, nominations, shopping tasks and the evictions.

This show will have a small studio audience to give their opinions and will have expert psychological debate. It'll be more like Big Mouth.

Good to see you move out of Elstree. Big Brother outgrew it's compound nearly a decade ago now!

As for the spin-offs, I would keep Emma just to the main show and have one presenter (or presenting duo) for all episodes of Housemates Unlocked.

I think it would look neater if there weren't so many of them... you could probably get rid of the walkway linking to the stage in the audience area.

You could try linking the the stage with the 3 seats to stage with the couch through a curved walkway that also has the stairs come down onto... similar to whats in the current BOTS studio.

Not a huge fan of that studio layout it has to be said - seems an awful waste of space with different presenting areas for the sake of it. They seem pointless when they're all on one level - at the very least as you've put stairs in I'd have a small balcony area that can be used, then really at most you need two seating areas - usually a sofa area and a more formal presentation area.

Also IMO the set feels very isolated from Big Brother. I think sets for these sort of shows work best when they seem to be in the middle of things, so I do think the set should have some kind of link either with production or with the house.

I've always said that studios were my weakness and it shows really. I can do exteriors but when it comes to studios I'm rubbish.

Thanks for your feedback Brekkie. I always appreciate your comments, and as we're getting to the House now anyway - just for you, here is a layout plan.

Big Brother House: The Exterior/Studio

Big Brother's new location means that the exterior can be expanded and new things added. With the new location, comes a revamped exterior and new features, alongside old favourites. Big Brother's exterior starts with the iconic eye shaped stage surrounded by screens with the new logo,

The eye stage leads down with a catwalk to an eye shaped podium which leads to a ground entrance door to the Big Brother House. Continuing from the eye podium is an outdoor area which can be used for special live shows, interviews (which I have shown the set-up for) and as an extra presenting space during eviction shows.

Inside the eye, the studio has been extended and redesigned. The door leads to a podium which can be used to present, then a link to a smaller podium with chairs allows for interviews to take place.

The Housemates will obviously be shaken or excited following their introduction and as soon as they enter the House, they are greeted with the Big Brother Airlock! [Not literally]

Big Brother House: Living Area Sofas

Welcome to the Big Brother House! With the new location, Big Brother has scaled up and out as the new House features an entire second floor, with secret rooms lying behind doors and walls. The living area boasts a futuristic and contemporary design with lots of modern furniture, cold colours and harsh edges. Before looking at the living area on a whole, lets take a look at different corners, starting with the sofas.

Big Brother's sofa area is underneath the second floor balcony, and this year is surrounded by a wall of screens which can move and change as Big Brother pleases. The sofas themselves are placed upon a wooden floor, and are circular and white this year. In the middle is a black coffee table. Near the sofas is the Housemates memory board which is made up of screens yet again. While this area looks comfy, the Housemates will soon be intimidated by having to look into each others eyes during nominations and even more so when secrets are revealed on the walls around the sofas..

I really love the design of this but don't think it fits with Big Brother as it is currently. We don't want to have a house so big housemates can spend time away from their enemy. For example Perez and other housemates have wound others up with noise producing TV Gold for Channel 5.

I also think that one of the challenges of a Big Brother design is to build something that could realistically go into the current studio, because lets face it Channel 5 will not be building a purpose built studio anywhere for Big Brother!

This project is done in a new location I think! A design like this could be done at elstree, but it would take up the living space, bedroom and tasks room in the house, so they would have to extend the plot, and there couldnt be 2 floors,

Thank you, and while I understand your comment it's a complete new vision for Big Brother. It is intended to move away from what Big Brother is now, and create a new house. Believe me while the living area of this house is large the house isn't in anyway the biggest, and there are plenty of secrets to cause "drama" - but again, stripping Big Brother back to what it should be includes removing the whole hero/enemy and returning to the basic social experiment.

Taking on a modern and futuristic design is the Big Brother kitchen. Contained within the same room as the living area, dining area and balcony it adds to the large area that Big Brother has created.

The Kitchen boasts three spacious islands for food preparation and storage, with blue lighting that can change depending on the mood of the House/the event e.g Eviction. Black wooden cabinets fill the back wall, while the other walls adapt a space-age look with mirrored sections alongside the view of stars. There is a large double fridge-freezer and of course the door to the store room.

Again, the Housemates will be able to access the Big Brother shop via the iPad where they will do the weekly shopping.

The dining table is just across from the kitchen and is a basic table, catering to the Housemates needs.

Big Brother House: The Balcony

This year, Big Brother has installed a second floor. The second floor holds a secret room which can only be accessed by four Housemates at a time - more on that later.

The Balcony is accessed via the posh glass stairs and once the Housemates are up there, they can relax and sit down on some of Big Brother's comfy lounge chairs, or play a game of pool with the others. There is also a very large monkey statue..

Big Brother House: The Garden

Big Brother's new compound has allowed the garden to take a completely new shape and size. While it hasn't grown to a huge size, it is still a decent area with lots of space for the Housemates to sit down and relax in the sun. Big Brother's garden consists of a wooden theme this year with light wood panels on the walls and a blue tinted wooden frame. The floor has white planks and astroturf.

The garden begins with a black sofa area where the Housemates can sit and chat, while some of them can lounge around on the sun loungers provided around Big Brother's plunge pool. Of course, there is also a toilet outside for the Housemates.

In the centre of the garden is a seating area for the Housemates to sit and chat, while behind them is the smoking area. The smoking area is a green sofa with an ashtray bin - this is the only place the Housemates are permitted to smoke.

Big Brother House: The Bedroom/Bathroom

The Big Brother House is without a doubt one of the biggest ever - however the Housemates will be disappointed when they see the size of the bedroom and the bathroom they'll have to suffer with throughout their stay in the House.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_BEDROOMBATHROOM.jpg

The Bathroom is a small dark room with four sinks for the Housemates to wash, a bathtub and a large shower which is big enough for two Housemates at a time. Big Brother has provided two chairs for Housemates to sit and use to talk or keep other Housemates company as they wash.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_BATHROOM2.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_BATHROOM1.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_BATHROOM.jpg

The Bedroom of this years House takes on a comfortable luxury theme. The calming colours and large plants make this bedroom a more relaxing area than seen in recent houses. The beds are all double beds, which means Housemates will have to share. There are two comfy chairs for Housemates, as well as storage units for the Housemates clothes and then under bed draws.

The Big Brother VIlla
On Launch Night, 12 new Housemates will move into the main Big Brother House. On Day 2, there will be a second live show where four Housemates move into a secret next door house, named the Big Brother Villa. While the name might suggest a luxurious life, they aren't going to get any special treatment - maybe worse. Let us take a look at the Villa before we look at the twist itself.

The villa is mainly a smaller scale Big Brother House with a lot of the same wall coverings and furniture, with small differences. The living and kitchen area features the screen wall, a kitchen area and a circular dining area for the four Housemates to sit. The Housemates in both Houses will be sharing one Diary Room.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_LIVINGAREA.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_SOFA.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_KITCHEN.jpg

The Bedroom and Bathroom are a little less luxurious. As you can see, it is all open plan. The Bathroom area is in the same room as the bedroom for all to see! I said it wasn't going to be a luxury stay.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_BEDROOM.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_BEDROOM1.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_BEDROOM2.jpg

The villa also has its own small yard with a plunge pool and decking chairs.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_GARDEN1.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_GARDEN.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB2_GARDEN2.jpg

Now, the four Housemates that move into the villa will be secret to the other Housemates. As they enter on Day 2, the Housemates will discover that they are a secret house and will have to keep their secret. These Housemates will not be 100% Housemates and will have to earn their stay in the main House.

As this twist will run from Day 3 (The first full day) up until Day 7 (The fifth day) there should be two, two day long tasks. The first between Day 3 and 4, and the next between Day 5 and 6. This means that two Housemates will move into the main House.

This leaves two remaining Housemates. On Day 7, the first main House eviction will take place and the Housemate will be evicted. There will also be a vote for which one of the two remaining Housemates should move into the House. Once the result is revealed, the Housemate with the most votes will move into the main House, with the other being evicted. They will be told to keep the secret House a secret, as it will come into play further into the series.

That's just a silly idea I had really - and I just wanted to make another house. :hehe: I'll reveal the CBB changes and the Diary Room soon.

The Big Brother House: The Nominations Room

Upstairs, the balcony has a door that leads to a secret unique room that Big Brother plans to use. This is the Big Brother Nominations Room. If Housemates want to access this room, they need to press the Diary Room button outside the door,

The Nominations Room is an area where Housemates can freely discuss their nominations but only four Housemates are able to enter at a time. Housemates while in this room can discuss why they'd like to nominate a certain Housemate and look at the Housemates board. The Housemates can only spend 15 minutes in this room per day.

Celebrity Big Brother House - Part 1
Celebrity Big Brother will return in January of 2016, with another exciting series. The series would last 31 days. The Big Brother House has a small transformation ready for the new celebrity Housemates, with a few new additions and new carpets.

The Celebrity Big Brother House is the same as the summer in size. First, the living area has had a fresh carpet with a few splashes of red here and there to give the Housemates the feeling of their celebrity status.

Living Area:
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_DININGTABLE.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_LIVINGAREA.jpg

Big Brother's sofa area has had a slight face-lift ready for the new Housemates, The white wooden planks from the summer have been replaced with a nicer looking wood floor, with a circular red rug between the sofas. The lamp above the sofas is now also red.
Sofas:

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_SOFA.jpg

The kitchen has also had some work, It is the same as the summer however the space theme has been replaced with a winter theme and the islands are now glowing a light red, with a lighter wooden background behind the units. Big Brother has also spoiled the celebrity housemates as he has installed a corridor running from the bedroom to the kitchen, to stop them having to go out in the cold.
Kitchen:

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_KITCHEN1.jpg

The balcony has also had some work done with new carpets, a new seating area and the monkey has been removed. The nominations room remains for the celebrity series.

One of the new additions to the Celebrity Big Brother House is the gym. Big Brother has added a small city-themed gym to the living area.

One of the best houses here in ages - adding a second floor quite literally takes BB houses up to another level and I think here in the UK they've got a bit too obsessed with the small cramped design, though to be the house design is one of the things C5 has arguably improved upon, though I'd definately restore an entrance lobby of some sort and not really a fan of their bedrooms.

Re: the Secret Villa. One of the best secret house twists I've seen is in Secret Story (France) and I think it would work well here. Essentially 4 people move into the Secret House on launch night, then one of them moves into the main house and has to keep the Secret House a secret (the premise of Secret Story is all HMs have a secret). That HM then "walked" a week in and two replacements (from the secret house) moved in, then ultimately all 4 of them. There are numerous ways it could be done but I wouldn't go to the effort of creating a second house for it to be used for just 4 days.

I quite like the idea of some sort of Purgatory in Big Brother - basically send evicted HMs there rather than straight to the outside and effectively have a two stage eviction process - firstly from the house and then from purgatory. Ultimately one person in purgatory would return to the main house.

Celebrity Big Brother House: Part 2

Garden:
With the Celebrity Big Brother House being renovated for the celebrity Housemates, the garden has had a small makeover. The seating area remains but this will also be the smoking area for the new series, while the swimming pool has been replaced with a hot tub underneath a heated roof.

The trees around the garden have been replaced with oranges and reds, while benches in the centre have been placed for the Housemates to sit and chat.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_GARDEN2.jpg

Bedroom:
The Celebrity Big Brother Bedroom this year has been extended and is larger than the bedroom in the summer. The room is themed the same, but it a grey and red theme. There is also a link to the main House via the corridor that leads to the kitchen to stop the Housemates having to go outside. The carpet has been replaced with a red carpet to return that celebrity feel to the Housemates. All of the beds are double once again - meaning Housemates will have to share.

Celebrities don't get special treatment in the bathroom as it is identical to the bathroom from the summer, just with a red rug in the centre of the room.

Big Brother House: The Diary Room

Fitting in with the space/modern theme of the living area, the Diary Room entrance has been fitted out to look like the opening of an airlock. The wall changes colour to show the availability of the Diary Room e.g red for locked and green for open.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_DIARYROOMDOOR.jpg

Once the Housemates go through the airlock, they have to walk down a short dark corridor to enter the Diary Room. The Diary Room this year is surrounded by walls of screens that show rotating patterns, and plasma screens. The chair is a large claw/egg type chair surrounded by blocks.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_DIARYROOM.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_DIARYROOM2.jpg

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_DIARYROOM1.jpg

For Celebrity Big Brother, the Diary Room stays the same but has a small change in colour.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_DIARYROOM1.jpg

Just out of interest, this is the third Diary Room I've made for this house. The first was a space rocket chair and the second just a plain large chair. The Celebrity Big Brother Diary Room also changed and was a throne like chair with a winter background:

CBB Alternative:
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_DIARYROOM_1.jpg

That's the end of this house! Thanks so much for viewing this and I believe that it's my best - considering the logo and all were completely new, and the use of a different and unique compound really helped this House. Thank you again!

Think the iron throne is probably more comfortable.

Great project Jarrod - one of the best in a while. Indeed these Fan Made seasons are about my only involvement with BBUK nowadays - can't stand what C5 have done to the show I once loved, pretty much taking it beyond the point of no return. It would be very difficult now for the show to regain it's long lost credibility and win back both some old fans and a new generation of viewers who'd like more to see more to reality TV than TOWIE clones - the fundamental tone of the show has changed for the worse (it's just horrid now) and I think it would be difficult to remove that idea from both viewers and future contestants mindsets.
