This is on Sunday at 7:00 pm. It's not exactly been a vintage year for British sport.

I think Darren Clarke should probably win though.

The ten contenders...

Equestrian star Zara Phillips, golfer Darren Clarke, tennis player Andy Murray, plus boxers Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton are on the shortlist.

Cyclist Nicole Cooke, cricketer Monty Panesar, gymnast Beth Tweddle, darts champion Phil Taylor and Formula One's Jenson Button complete the candidates.

A public vote during the show, which starts at 1900 GMT, decides the winner.

There are no sport stars i really like this year so it won't interest me too much although i'm sure i'll probably watch anyway. I'd like to see Beth Tweddle win though as her sport is probably the trickiest to learn, i mean swinging about on all those bars takes skill. :colour:

are you lot all mad???????

.. what about David Walliams swimming the channel in near record time !! .. very few people in the world could have done that.

If David does'nt win it, i'm going to kill myself!!!!!!

I reckon Joe Calzaghe will win, purely for his shut out of Jeff Lacy.

Isn't Zara Prince William and Prince Harry's cousin?

I think not just one person stands out this year, plenty of good people who deserve to win. Not too fussy who wins to be honest lol.

How on earth did Jenson Button get in the line up. All hes done is win one race. Thats not spectacular when you compare him to other formula one drivers.

I agree that David Walliams should have been in the line up.

Zara Phillips won, Darren Clarke was second and Beth Tweddle third.

Team award went to St Helens rugby league - should have been the European Ryder Cup team.
