I liked Alexander, he became the shows Grandad and his singing talent was undeniable.

Don't forget, he was of a generation where Perez's behaviour and lifestyle was called what he called Perez and Perez has played upon this to antagonise Alexander.

I will miss Alexander's calming presence in the house, he was respected by the younger housemates and offered advice in a non offensive way.

Well, I have to agree to disagree with you and your gay friends. In my opinion, being intentionally homophobic is wrong in any context. There are a lot of other words to use if you wish to insult someone, if someone chooses to use a bigoted term (and not in the heat of the moment, but intentionally in a bid to hurt who it's aimed at), there's no defence of that as far as I'm concerned.
