Anybody been following the news the last week or so? Well if you haven't three vice girls have been murdered and dumped in various places.
Anyway, it was only a matter of time that the press would start calling the killer the Ipswich Ripper because of the exact situation.
Do you think he'll get caught before more and more women get killed or will this person be like its predisesor and spread fear among women for 4/5 years like Sutcliffe did?

Yea iv'e been hearing about it, it's terrible
About 3 girls have been found in the same place havent they?
It all kinda reminds me of Jack The Ripper, who killed prostitutes in London

I've been following the news avidly over the last few days. I find it worrying that so many women have been killed/missing in such a short space of time.
I doubt the police will say too much about the person they believe to be doing these killings because they made that fatal mistake with the yorkshire ripper and then were sent on a wild goose chase for the wrong man who sent in a hoax and in the meantime another woman was killed by him.
I hope to God that they find out who is doing it soon because the way things are going it seems that women in that area are going missing far to quickly

I heard they all got found near a lake/pond or something like that. Apparently two more 'hookers' are/have been reported missing.. so it could start to get nasty.

3 bodies have been found near the same river, the third was strangled but the the other two weren't. The two that are missing havent been heard from since sunday and were hookers too.
The thing is that the Yorkshire Ripper prayed on hookers as well but he also killed other women that werent. But he mistook them for ladies of the night!

Ahh i read about that a couple of weeks ago, some dude created a hoax and messed the investigation up... meanwhile another victim was being flatlined. Humiliation for the police.
I can't see them doing anything yet but if alot of people go missing then obviously they'd be forced to address the communitys effected.
Why are there so many fruitcakes about these days?!!!

Yeah he sent a letter in and the police were sent on a wild goose chase while the real killer struck again.
The police are doing stuff in the area, there is a massive police presence in Ipswich and are making sure that if any of the "ladies or punters" have any relevant info that they will not be prosecuted for giving or receiving if you get my drift!!!
It's a story you don't even have to watch the news to hear about it because everyone has been talking about, Let's just hope they catch this vicious person before anymore murders are commited.

Yeah but 'hookers' need punters and they won't get punters hanging around police... they'll move on, just like the punters.
Besides, whats stopping this person going to surrounding areas anyway.. if i remember rightly... sutcliffe killed people in different areas of northern england.
Read this.
"Peter Sutcliffe was the Copy-Cat Ripper, responsible for only four of the thirteen murders which he 'confessed' to. He had been eliminated twelve times by the police because he was blood group O... the Ripper was known to be blood group B.
The police knew that two men were involved in the bizarre series of murders, but tactical blunders made it expedient to make a deal with the Copy-Cat killer, who was offered ten years in a luxury mental home for his 'confessions' to everything, by a police force desperate to close the file.
After all these years, the Real Ripper, far from being a hoaxer who wrote mockingly to the police in order to implicate the Copy-Cat, is still free in the U.K."
What are the chances, the 'real' yorkshire ripper is back?!

They are still waiting for news of the 2 missing girls! I really do hope they both turn up well and that this monster is caught quickly
As for the Yorkshire Ripper case their was a guy from Sunderland who sent in tapes of himself talking and letters which led the enquiry time on a wild goose chase for a long time in which time more women were killed.
The man from Sunderland has recently been jailed for perverting the course of justic and by all accounts he was a right odd ball.

Jack the Ripper was around 1888 and murdered the street women in london. The Yorkshire Ripper was late 70's early 80's and did the same but all over the place.

The police are begging prostitutes in the area not to go out. But as you said..... they need the business but they wont get that if the police are around.
Your absolutly right, if there is load of pokice investigating the area he could well move on. Which is what the yorkshire ripper did.
What are the chances, the 'real' yorkshire ripper is back?!
Who knows........ it could be someone who idolises Peter Sutcliff and is copying him. The only thing we do know is he must be sick in the head!!!!

It was on the Wales news last year!
And I think he was obsessed with surgery because he was a doctor
Oh have you ever watched the film, From Hell?
It stars Johnny Depp and it's all about Jack the Ripper
There's also been a few more hookers killed/reported missing upto few years ago all in the same area so this could be a long term thing and he's kept a low-profile before starting it up once again.

Yeah I've seen the film.... it was quite graphic I believe.
I do have a weird interest in murders. I cant quiet believe that someone could actually do these things. I remember when they were trying to catch the Yorkshire Ripper they called in hundreds of men, they asked for people to look for men living in the midlands or surounding areas with a north east accent, who drived a blue car. One of my neighbours called the police and my dad got questioned because he fitted that criteria!!!! but hundreds of men had to do the same thing

Oh.
They have loads of sources that could help them though. So, lets hope it's enough. Things like CCTV, DNA Database or maybe even ask other hookers or things if they saw these women with anyone before they disapeared. They're already checking 400  men on the sex offenders list in Suffolk.

People like this deserve to rot in prison. Their liberities should be taken away and live life in hell. Suicide is too good for them. Take Fred West, should have rotted away living with what he did but he killed himself before trial!

If it was around christmas time last time it might be a memorial killing? It's one the "types of murders" that serial killers sometimes go for, if they've had bad experiences around xmas etc. Around a specific season or something. :conf:

Here are some of the key events in the police investigation.
7 NOVEMBER
Police in Suffolk say they are "extremely concerned" about the disappearance of prostitute Tania Nicol. She went missing after leaving her home in Ipswich, Suffolk, on 30 October.
Her mother Kerry appealed for information on her whereabouts and said it was unusual for her not to be in touch with her family.
15 NOVEMBER
Police launched a further appeal for information on the whereabouts of a second missing prostitute in Ipswich.
Gemma Adams, 25, from Blenheim Road in the town was reported missing by her partner after she failed to return home from work.
2 DECEMBER
A member of the public finds a naked body in a brook at Hintlesham, Suffolk.
3 DECEMBER
Detectives launch a major inquiry after the body is formally identified as missing prostitute Miss Adams.
Her death raises fears for the safety of Miss Nicol.
Both women disappeared from the same area and detectives say there are "obvious similarities" between the two cases.
4 DECEMBER
Specialist teams start searching in the area where the body was found.
8 DECEMBER
A second naked body is found by police divers searching an area near Copdock Mill, near Ipswich.
9 DECEMBER
Police confirm that the second body is that of Miss Nicol.
Her body was discovered in the same stretch of water as that of Miss Adams, say police, but around two miles away.
Det Supt Andy Henwood says there were "obvious similarities" between the two deaths.
10 DECEMBER
Police announce that the body of a third prostitute has been found raising further fears that a serial killer is targeting women in the area.
Officers are called to Nacton, near Ipswich, at 1520 GMT after a member of the public discovers the woman's body in woodland.
Police say the body is of a woman in her 20s.
Detectives say it is too early to say whether the third death is linked to the murders of Miss Adams and Miss Nicol.
11 DECEMBER
Police say they are concerned for two other missing women.
Paula Clennell, aged 24, has not been seen since late on Saturday, and Annette Nicholls, aged 29, went missing on December 4.
Assistant Chief Constable Jacqui Cheer warns prostitutes to "stay off the streets" for their own safety.
Police describe the discovery of the third body as a "deeply disturbing development" and that while they are unable to formally link the discovery of the body at Nacton with the two murders, "the facts speak for themselves".
12 DECEMBER
Police discover two more bodies near the village of Levington, five miles south of Ipswich.
Det Ch Supt Stewart Gull said: "I have to fear the worst. Sadly I fear these may be the bodies of Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls."
Police investigating the murders of the three prostitutes near Ipswich release the name of the third victim, Anneli Alderton, 24, and say she was strangled.
Tests are being carried out to see if she was sexually assaulted.

Yea i think that can be done, hopefully they will find that the girls were sexually assulted as well cause that weill just press more charges against him
Allthough several murders is pretty bad
Perhaps he's had a past experience of using a prostitute and hates himself for it so lashes out that way, that's one theory a guy on the radio came up with.

None of the women showed sexual activity prior to the murder. He didn't rape them, but there's a simple explanation for this - it cuts off any DNA link to them.
And I don't think women in Suffolk should be too afraid - he only seems to be going for "ladies of the night".

I'm watching sky news this morning. They are going to officially identify the last two bodies later today, then release the names. But, I think we all know it's gonna be those poor girls who have been reported missing.
It's shocking. This is one of the reasons I think prostitution should be legalised so that safeguards can be put in place for the working girls. If there were saunas/brothels with regulations, then the girls would be in a much safer situation.. although, it's argued that they wouldn't be able to make as much money as they do on the street.
I would say these girls have to be pretty desperate to choose prostitution as a means of making money... I think the fact that so many of them are still out on the street knowing this killer is on the loose shows the level of desperation they are at.
Watching the news this morning, and seeing the police presence in the Ipswich area makes me wonder if he will move on to another city soon. I guess the girls aren't safe anywhere. Very sad.

Well in my local paper its Ipswich and many reports online are Ipswich but i think we're missing the point here. Ipswich is a part of Sussex... indeed... but i'm not too bothered about his/her name. I'm more bothered about the things that are happening to helpless people, at the moment, in Ipswich.

Absolutly, but if you think about it, most of these girls also have pimps which a chunk of the cash goes too. If you take a look at Amsterdam for example, they have legal brothals and make sure that the girls get free healthcare and regular STD checks. They have madams that look after the girls and make sure they are safe. Yes, most are still adicts and you tell this by just looking into their eyes when you go down the red light streets of the city but if they have a regular income, have safe places to work rather than on the streets and have people to make sure they have the right healthcare. I think this needs to be done in this contry

Thats because its well managed and they have a set percentage of proffit agreed with the "house" they work in. They dont get ripped off by pimps and are a lot safer than walking the streets

They said earlier in the press conference that they wont be releasing the details of the two bodies found until tomoro.
They are still at the location, and after forensics are done, they will have to be moved to get post-mortums done... then the family will have to ID them.. all that has to be done before they can publicly release any details.

I think it's more or less definite that it's the missing girls, and that they are also victims of the same killer, but obviously the police can't go saying that officially til they have spoken to families etc.
It's all a bit worrying to be honest. If there are more bodies found, I would reckon they might bring in the FBI or some European police for assistance. The UK police aren't used to dealing with crimes of this level.

Yeah, maybe he never cared in the first place. You have to remember that some girls go into prostitution because they had a crappy upbringing, often with abuse.. not that all of them do, but maybe that would explain the "don't give a chit" attitude of that one in particular.

Thats what the British public want though. It's human instinct to want all the gritty details, and they're providing us with it. Of course they're salivating, they're getting viewers - it's their job.
Of course the families will be suffering, I'm not denying that - but the press shouldn't be walking on eggshells for it.

Nah. I believe in freedom of the press. And, I also believe that they should report the story as it is, without bias or emotion.
I wouldn't like to be a newsreader because I would find it difficult to detach myself from certain stories (eg. where children are involved), but it's the only way to report news, even if it does seem rather cold-hearted. I don't tune into the news to find out how the newsreader feels... I tune in to find out the facts.
And, if I was related to any of the victims, I doubt I would be watching any news on TV, or reading any newspapers to be honest anyway.
Lauren

Exactly, we shouldn't have a half-news story. They should give us the full facts so we can make our own minds up about things.

It's not sick. You're not saying that you are enjoying the fact that these women are dead. You are saying that you are interested because you would like to be able to solve these cases. If there weren't any forensic people, most of these cases would remain unsolved. So, morbid fascination isn't always a bad thing.

The pressures of life.. yeah.....
I'm like Marge fluckin Simpson here... seriously...most of my time, and all of my money goes on my 2 kids.. so basically that's why I wont do it. I would do maybe a year's course or something, but that would be about all I could stand.
By the time I'm done cleaning the house, picking up kids, helping with homework and cooking meals, there aint much time left to study!

oh, Lauren was talkin bout wanting to be a forensic pathologist, and I was saying how she should go for it, cuz she's 17 and this is the time to enter into something like that.
Then I was bitchin about how I'm too old to do stuff like that now, cuz I'm 32 and have 2 kids to run around after.. so I missed the boat if I wanted to have a shining career.

Omg. In science class yesterday, we discussed wether the DNA database is a good thing. And there was this whole debate on it. Then I come home and find this. Anyway, they're checking ever man who is on the Databse around Sussex, I think.
So do you think the DNA databse is a good thing?

Yes. I do. I also like the idea of ID cards, and I feel safer with the amount of CCTV we have nowadays. I think the only people who object to any of this, and who bleat on about infringements of their civil liberties are people who have something to hide.

Yeah. We discussed ID Cards too. I think you're right too. But I decided against it because I dont feel everyone who lives around a certain area, and is on the database should be checked. I mean, they could be on there for having a blood/ferternity test, or something else which is personal. So why should they be checked of a crime just cause they're on a database for personal, non-crime reasons.

Thing is though... I would gladly let the police investigate me if I had nothing to hide. Most law-abiding folk would. And, who's to say that the perpetrator of these crimes has a record. So, if they only checked people who had a record, they might never find the real killer.

True.
So, even if the man who killed these girls hasn't got a record, yet his DNA is on the clothes. Could they find him?

Not directly if he isn't on a database, but when they did find him, they could match his DNA with that found at the scene.

No? Sounds like a load of tripe. I'm assuming we're being accused of being sectarians? The one reason we're not sectarian would be that there's only one team from here, and the surrounding area in the top flight, and the fact we're not split catholic/protestant. Honestly, you'd think they'd be getting their knickers in a twist over Stephen Pressley instead.
