View Full Version : Who should be included in the 2015 general election TV debates?

So now the Greens are going to be included, along with the SNP and Plaid Cymru. Is it right that these latter two will appear despite being regional parties who don't contest seats outside of their constituent countries? Should we not have the Northern Irish parties represented in this case such as the DUP who have more seats than the Greens? Or is the debate already going to be a bit of a farce with 7 people going at it never mind 11? What about Galloway and his Respect party?

Have included a multi choice poll of all the parties with a seat in Westminster, choose those you think should be represented

I think the leaders of the Conservative,Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green and UKIP parties, they are across the board UK parties and so for me they all should take part.

PC,SNP and the Irish party leaders should join in debates only for their own elected assembly elections when they take place along with the other UK parties who may be standing in Scotland and Wales too at that time.

What about LeatherTrumpet? Surely he should be there as M.P. (Maddest Person) for The Monster Raving Looney TIBB Party?

I agree with most of the above other than that THIS year I believe that the SNP should be involved. In a "normal election year", no, but given the political events of 2014 and the fact that we came fairly close to changing UK politics forever, and that there has been a significant knock-on effect from those events that is still in play, and the huge increase in party membership, for THIS general election I think it would be appropriate to include the SNP, as it would be appropriate to still be discussing the Union at this point. It's sort of in limbo at the moment. Obviously it did not split, but also, it's far from being strong, and there is a lot of "bad blood".

Without UKIP involved it would not be worth even tuning in to watch.

just voted for the 5 that should be in every debate, with the other parties taking part in localised ones.

I agree.

UKIP will probably do okay because Farage, for all his nonsense, is quite a good speaker.

The Monster Raving Green Party should definitely be involved so we can see, despite having a handful of good sense ideas, just how wacky and odd they really are.

thing is the tories may be a national party but have no presence in scotland and without the snp scotland would not be represented properly..

How can more people think the Greens and Ukip be involved than a party currently in government lol

Someone on BBC Radio 2 shared my sentiment. The only parties who should be invited are those who could supply the 326 candidates for a majority government. In other words the Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and UKIP.

Scrap the lot of them just have arista, Livia, Myself and Kizzy and 3 others from tibb, the audiences would then likely get far better answers and info from us than they will from all this lot.

Being serious however I see the DUP are now saying they should be included too.

George Galloway's really good at public speaking, but like Farage even though he can talk the talk he can't walk the walk.
