Basically want to know if you all believe in it, experienced anything odd or even been told anything that has happend.

I don't know if any of you watched that Most Haunted Girl Aloud special last night but i thought it was a really good show, and to see the girls shouting and screaming obsenities.. showed them in a new light to there normal butter wouldn't melt poppy exteriour.

More importantly the things they were experiencing were amazing and i wish i could do something like that to experience it because i'm not too sure and you never know if these things on TV are staged or not. Things like pebbles being thrown, taps on request and noises... it would be great in my opinion.

Would you goto a haunted building like they did and try to make contact with "them" just to see if it is infact real or not?! I definatley would, thats one thing high on my list i would love to do.

Come on then my luvlies, lets get this rolling! :dance2:

Ok..... I am a believer but not sure that these types of programmes are a set up. Yes there have been some extraordinary finds on Most Haunted and I remember watching one last year on Halloween on my own and it made me so so scared!!!! Pendal Witches and all..... http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/figuren/a054.gif very very scarey.

I had an experience when I was about 5, I think, where I woke in the middle of the night and saw a small boy walk past my bed...... I was the youngest in the house and he just floated past. None of my family beleived me, mainly because I told lots of fibs when I was younger but I swear to this day it happened. My brother has also experienced stuff when he lived in an old house in Winchmore Hill.... it freaked him out to say the least and he is a none believer!

Then when I was 13 I lived in a really old house with a half hexaganal room which was called the sundial room on the account that it had a sundial on the outside. As you went upstairs there was a square part of the wall missing so you could see into this room. On many occasions I thought I saw an old lady in a rocking chair knitting!!!! Freaky as ****

EDIT: But then again my Auntie is a witch and I can read Tarot cards and have freaky dreams that have been known to come true.... which is why I dont read them anymore

Haha, sounds like you had fun as a child!

The only real 'experience' i had was when i was on holiday with the school, it was summer time and we we're all in the lodge were we slept and what have you... taking in the fact it was absolutley scorching outside.... it went freezing cold in our room for like ten seconds and you could see your breath, and then my mate below me in the lower bunk said something just touched his leg, to this day i don't know if he was joking or not but i've never came up with a logical solution to why it went cold like that for say 10 seconds?!

Was really weird.

You get that... when the room goes icey cold...... the sundial room was always freezing, even in the hight of summer!

We have this really weird thing that happens in our family. Now I'm not sure if my dad is winding me up, but all my other relatives on his side say the same thing. When a male is ill and is about to pass away on my paternal side the closest male relavtive to him will hear three knocks for three days and on the third day the ill relative passes away.

LOL..

I was thinking of seeing a fortune teller.. I'm not really into that sorta stuff but a friend got her fortune told and she says it was amazingly accurate. My hubby 2 be saw one before he met me and she said he'd marry someone called Laura and have 2 kids..

(i'm Laura, no kids yet though,,)

I've seen various fortune tellers and some have been spot on other have been way off the mark. Its best to go with word of mouth. If you know someone who has received a good reading then go with the same one

I find it hilarious when he get's possessed as it does seem pretty fake, like the one where he just kept shouting mary loves dick.

I loved it when Scott Mills kept playing it over and over again... but then I found it quite disturbing as my daughters name is mary

I haven't ever had an experience personally.. but I do believe there's something goin on wi it.

I'm torn between wanting to have an experience, so that I know for sure, and not wanting one cuz it would scare the chit out of me.

I've had no experiences so i therefore don't believe in it all. I did enjoy the show last night, but i mean, when Cheryl said 'if your there just fookin knock' and it was, i think that was definatly the producers or someone else. I really find it hard to believe that there are ghosts and they can 'knock' like on the program.

Having said that, to be 100% i would have to go into one of those houses and experience it for one because i would find out if i do believe in it or not and for two because i think it would be REALLY good to do it, although it looks scary i would love to experience it, even if it was all 'set up' cause i'd be none the wiser.

But yeah, i'd definatly go into one of those houses.

I've not experienced anything like this personally but I reckon there's something out there cos there must be another solar system somewhere in space which has some kind of sun and other rocks around that sun which have organisms on them, whether they may be human or not is a different matter.

A lot of this can be explained by deliberate or non-deliberate fraud (i.e mediums and so called psychics, known physical conditions such as sleep paralysis.

A good person who looked into this is the Amazing Randi, a stage magician and devout sceptic who has done a lot to expose the falsehoods in the so called psychic industry.

There's just so much to it. For me, I do believe in spirits etc. (to be specific, on Earth that is - talking about organisms in the universe as a whole is a different matter to me), not necessarily 'scary' or 'spooky' ones though. I've never really had any experiences with the paranormal myself, so I'm half and half in that I believe that there are spirits, but I don't think they actually make any contact with humans. Yet so many people have at least one ghost story to tell, but the whole stereotypical haunted mansion thing just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I think the reason people feel afraid of such things (and in fact I too probably would be) is because of the way it's portrayed, the things they've heard, and therefore they'd associate anything untoward happening in a so-called 'spooky' mansion with it being supernatural.

Thats the thing, before they went into this hospital for people with Leprosy, they told them about this and that concerning who died in there etc.

Once you've heard that then maybe your subconcious mind will play tricks on you because your expecting things to happen and even the slightest nothings could become something more... but turning back to last night, how can you then justify stones being thrown and physical things happening, thats if we presume it is real.

I don't know if anyone seen this thing before by Darren Brown i think it was, called seance. Well that show made me quite reluctent to accept that paranormal activity was infact real. Great show btw!!

I've never been afraid of something i can't see and interact with, so untill i experience it first hand... i can't really say there is or there isn't but i'd like to think there is something there.

You've hit the nail on the head there. The Brain is a powerful tool. It plays tricks and when your in a high state of emotion like fear it can create stituations that wouldnt normally happen and you start to feel and sense things that arent there

That's pretty much what I meant, so yeah, I agree. Since you've been led to believe such things, your brain does tend to play tricks on you, and you associate anything that happens as I said before with haunted things.

Yea, like whyen you watch most houruntes then something in your house moves you instantly associate it with the programme when if you was watching something else you would just assume that it has fallen off or something

I've seen a ghost, or at least I believe I have. It's a woman. She's always this kind of burgundy colour, not a white ghost like people presume, or transparent. Just... faded, like in a photograph maybe? She's got her hair tied up in two buns, one on either side of her head, a bit like Chun Li from Street Fighter only less artistic :P. She walks from the door of our downstairs bathroom to the vestibule, she goes through the door and walks right up to the hatch in the floor to get to the piping, and then she disappears. I'd say I was being irrational, but my mum and my older brother have seen her too. It's weird, she doesn't appear at a particular time or anything, you'll just occasionally see her.

Actually i forgot about this one.... theres a picture of my mom with a kitten in her old car, and next to her in the picture is what seems to be a skeleton but when i asked my uncle (he took the picture) if anybody was in the car.. or if there was anyone just out of shot who could have somehow managed to get into the picture and he said there was nobody around just my mom in the car with this kitten.

You can see the bones go around my moms shoulders and another arm coming up next to the kitten... really freaky!

I wish i could scan it but my nephew smashed my scanner like the dougnut he is!

Ever heard of Double exposure, a problem of old cameras which had to be manually wound on to the next piece on the roll of film.

This was the pre-digital age.

If this is post digital, there is always photoshop

I have seen a number of these so called images and usually it comes down to a camera fault, or the result of a timed exposure during which time someone wanders into and out of shot.

BTW I have not seen Randi get converted to being a believer. One of his best ideas once, during the Uri Gellar hype, was that he trained stage magicians in how to use sleight of hand to reproduce the spoon bending tricks Uri did. Randi then sent these magicians into the wider world where unsuspecting scientists tested them and said they were genuine psychics. Randi then got them to stand up and admit they cheated.

Randi proved that the so called experts could be fooled into thinking hat a phenomenon was real.

As a coda to this story, Randi sealed two small metal rods into glass tubes. He has offered a large cash prize if anyone can bend these bits of metal with their "psychic powers" while they are still in the glass. To date Uri Gellar has refused to take up this challenge. What is he afraid of if he is such a competant psychic :nono:

Lauren

Randi can't explain personal experiences, Sticks.

Sticks
14-12-2006, 09:06 PM
But they can be recreated which is what the great Harry Hodini used to do with seances. The test subjects were hooded so they could not see what was going on, whilst an audience could see the various tricks that could be done to create these "personal experiences"

A lot of these experiences are a psychological trick we do on our selves, there is mounting evidence that so called alien abduction is nothing more than a known problem called sleep paralysis when the sleep functions goes wrong.

Lauren
14-12-2006, 09:13 PM
Physical experiences can easily be explained away.
There's an explanation for everything, but who is saying the scientific reason is always the right reason? There seem's to be a lot of if's, buts, and maybe's, e.g. "It COULD be sleep paralysis" - they give no concrete evidence towards anything. And so the scientific reason is just as valid as the paranormal reason.

I suppose it is easier to accept the easiest solution, and for most people it probably would be that its mind over matter. It's easier to accept that over whether or not there is indeed paranormal activity.

I've got to get hold of a tent and a few willing mates to drag along and i'd make a night of it at some old 'haunted' spot... really quite eager to put this to bed!
