Cholo*(Spanish pronunciation:*[ˈtʃolo]) is an ethnic*slur*created by*Hispanic criollos*in the 16th century. In sociological literature, it is one of*castas,[1]*and refers to individuals of mixed or pure*Native American*ancestry, or other racially mixed origin. The precise usage of "cholo" has varied widely in different times and places. In modern American usage, it most often applies to a low-income*Mexican-American*sub-culture and manner of dress.

It's true that in most of Latin America Chola can be used pejoratively but in Los Angeles a chola is also known as a "homegirl" and there is a homegirl culture and the term is not derogatory. Fergie and. Gwen Steffani have used chola culture in their videos. Cholas are often tough girls that "don't take no **** from nobody", so it would make sense Cami would call herself a Chola as would Perez.

Being serious I don't believe that Perez should be using the term either, but I believe that none of them in there should be using that term imo as it's offensive.
It is only words though so I wouldn't warn these Housemates from using it, it's just not what I want to hear.

I agree non of them should be using it, look at the context in which it's being used for your answer as to why Perez is copping the main flak (haters aside). He's using it as a derogatory term in monologues to camera, the other two are mimicing Cami in coversations with her.

Why is nobody clocking the racial sterotyping? In modern usage in the United States, the term "cholo" usually indicates a person of Mexican or Mexican-American descent, generally mestizo or Amerindian, who is associated with American cultural subgroups such as the "lowrider" car culture, or the hip hop scene in general. The term is used in Caló slang, but it in turn has infiltrated into mainstream American English.

And while you've got your mirrors out take another long hard look, and wonder why you've spent four pages of debate concerning what politically correct word is or isn't acceptable this week. Doesn't it make you think that perhaps society is getting rather sinister????REKT

Channel 5 has been forced to cut scenes from Celebrity Big Brother 2015 over fears of more complaints.
We told on Monday how the show attracted a further 1,100 complaints in its second week to TV watchdog Ofcom.
Every single episode attracted at least 10 complaints while a number saw over 100, with one episode seeing more than 800 people write in.
They’re in addition to the 500 complaints in the opening week which saw the ejection of two housemates.
Last night saw Perez Hilton return to the house and immediately wind up Katie Hopkins.
While we did seen him chase, kiss and even LICK Katie, more of Perez’s antics were cut from the episode.
In scenes not shown, Perez spent the evening “frantically thrusting his hips” at Katie before telling her to “lick it good, suck this d***, just like you should”, The Sun newspaper reports.
The tabloid claims that bosses axed the segment due to “fearing a major backlash” from viewers.
Meanwhile, Big Brother had to call Cami Li to the Diary Room this week to investigate whether her nickname “Chola” was potentially offensive.
Evicted Patsy Kensit revealed: “Cami Li is like my little Chola. It’s a Latina gangster. I love all American films and stuff so I was talking to her about stuff like that and Chola’s a name I’ve heard in a film and she loved it.
“But [Big Brother] called her upstairs and said, ‘Is it an offensive term? Chola?’ And she was like, ‘No, it’s great!'”
Celebrity Big Brother 2015 continues nightly on Channel 5.

Once again, in The US where Perez and Cami. Li are from cholo or chola is not derogatory. In South America it can be used offensively. My aunts were cholas, and they were tough cookies.

What on earth, how can anyone complain when they have been warned every 15 minutes about potential offensive content, it's the equivalent of someone turning on a porn movie and then complaining about the content :bored:
