View Full Version : Katie Hopkins Xenophobe
Is Katie Hopkins an Xenophobe?
Lost count now of how many times she has insulted Americans and shown her disdain for them with her childish face pulling and over animated rolleyes just further showing her hatred.
No, she's just joking around

If she's not, she still clearly has no qualms about making comments than can very easily be interpreted as such.
She uses "American" exclusively in a negative manner, like "Oh, he's a typical annoying American", etc. If she'd negatively stereotyped people of a different race, she'd have been hauled into the Diary Room.
Joking or not, it makes no difference to whether a comment has the capacity to be offensive or not.
Jake.

No, she just doesn't like Perez and will use anything she can to attempt to make remarks against him

She even said it in the diary room to Big Brother, and was not pulled up on it. It's strange that you can insult Americans, but not races.

I think a lot of people see Americans as loud and brash, doesn't mean we don't like them, its only like the saying the Brits are pompus and reserved or whinging Poms,I don't think many can read that as xenophobic, but I guess some will , depending on whether they like her or not.

Based on her comments on palestinians outside the house, and on americans inside the house.. I would say yes. It comes in the package of a patriot really.

I read the Gaurdian on line. You should read the Anti - American comments in there. Maybe KH is playing to that crowd! Are they xenophobes. Gosh they would be horrified!
In short. No.

Not everyone stereotypes entire nationalities. Thankfully.

You can be patriotic/nationalistic without being xenophobic at the same time, it's just that it's rare - and Katie shows that to be true.
She isn't joking around. Of course she believes what she says, at least to some extent.

Of course she is, she's insulted American people left, right, and centre.
And basically admitted tonight in the Diary Room that she's only hanging around Michelle and Cami because she sees them as stupid, because that's what she is saying when she's saying that Americans are stupid and brash.

She admitted no such thing, but if that's how you see it, fine, but you are trying to manipulate something that wasn't even said about Michelle and cami:nono:

Well why does she hang around Cami? They don't really have that much in common.

Well you, Lostalex, and Ninastar come across as intelligent, nice people so I'm not buying into the stereotype tbh.
But of course in 50 States you are gonna get quite a few thickos as there is more people living in the country.

But you understand that stereotypes exist? All Katie has done is mention how Perez is being a stereotypical American! It's not xenophobic to understand stereotypes.

You know I did wonder if she was some sort of sociopath. She seems to have no filters.

That's not all she's done though is it?
What about when she was moaning 'what's with all the Americans' 'this is BBUK' and so on in the Diary Room, this was before even the arguments with Perez started.
People have very short memories when they choose.

its a tactic shes using by appealing to people who hate us yanks. I still like her in the house, shes funny at times, but its kind of tacky appealing to the lowest common denominator

Exactly. And if an American kept making comments about English or British people in the same way a lot of this forum would be constantly complaining
I mean Gary did the same kind of thing last year (but not as bad) and I'm sure some people were moaning. Double standards
