Since there has been a lot of discussion (and complaining) about having the 60 minute eviction show and 90 minute BOTS, both here and on Twitter, I decided to create a poll in my app; Big Brother: The App for Windows Phone.
So far this series it has been very much in tune with general public opinion, getting every eviction correct. No doubt this is due to the fact that it is the "genera public" voting as opposed to us hardcore fans on here.
Anyway, I asked the question "Do you prefer a 60 minute highlights show and a 90 minute BOTS, or 90 minute highlights show and 60 minute BOTS?" and the results (as of now) are as follows:
- 90min HL + 60min BOTS 77.12%
- 60min HL + 90min BOTS 14.38%
- Don't Know/Care 8.50%
(Total Votes: 153)
This was posted earlier today, so there will no doubt be more votes once tonight's show starts. I thought it was quite interesting to see that "normal" viewers also don't like the shortened main show.

Well as long as Emma is hosting I don't care how long it is.

Unless they start showing highlights during BOTS then they need to change it back tbh.

In a way I like how evictions are an hour now because there's not a long to wait to find out who's gone, I think it works with CBB because there are a lot of evictions, but BB should be. 90 mins eviction as there's only 1 a week.

Rylan shouldn't even present a 5 minute programme. He is literally terrible, no two ways about it.

Once the eviction ends my mum quickly turns over, she can't stand him. Lol

They need 90 minute evictions back. 60 mins highlights, 30 mins eviction and interview.
Or just keep both shows as 60 minutes.
Tuned into BOTS last night and it was a mess. How on earth do they keep that going for 90 minutes.

You could tell they struggled to fill the show when they bring football into it

Your Mum is a wise woman! Even the small advert he does to get people to apply to the civilian series does my nut in, the mute button gets hit so fast!

Channel 5 doesn't know what it's doing at the moment. What happened to that guy who sorted out Channel 5?

Personally I don't like Emma on BOTS, much prefer Rylan. That said 90 mins is too long for either BOTS or the main show.

The entire way Big Brother is presented on Channel 5 needs to change. I've done my own scheduling idea here: http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269945
Basically this is what I came up with.
Big Brother: Highlights Show
Monday – Friday, Sunday at 9pm on Channel 5
Channel 5 airs a nightly highlights show which show the past 24 hours inside the Big Brother House. I suggest that this change to a Monday – Friday and Sunday event, meaning that there would be no episode of Big Brother on Saturday. The highlights on Monday – Thursday would air as a regular 60 minute episode. On Friday, the highlights are placed in the eviction show (More details of which are below). The highlights would be as stripped back as possible and show the key moments that viewers must see to understand the Housemates development. There will be limited narration from Marcus Bentley.
On Sunday, the highlights show would be extended to 90 minutes and give highlights from Friday and Saturday in the House – which could potentially be a ratings booster as Friday and Saturday tend to be eventful days in the House. The show would also air in a fixed slot throughout its run. This would be 9pm on Channel 5, bringing the show centre of the prime time schedule for the channel.
Big Brother: Live Eviction
Friday at 9pm and 10:30pm on Channel 5
Big Brother's live evictions need to be one of the big events of the week in television. Emma Willis will return to host the live shows of Big Brother. Instead of having a 90 minute show, I suggest that Channel 5 break up the show into two parts. One 60 minute show at 9pm and a shorter 45 minute show at 10:30pm. The first show will include the eviction result, eviction reactions from the House and highlights from Thursday. The second show would include the eviction and the interview with the evicted Housemate.
Emma Willis would return as the main host of Big Brother. I also suggest stripping back the eviction shows. Instead of hosting the entire live show outside with a large crowd, bring the first show indoors with just Emma and a small studio audience, and making the eviction announcements inside. The second show would be hosted outside the Big Brother House.
Big Brother: Housemates Unlocked
Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10pm on Channel 5
Instead of having a nightly edition of Big Brother's Bit on the Side, I suggest cutting back the show and renaming it to Housemates Unlocked. The show will only air three nights a week for 60 minutes– mainly after key events in the House, nominations, shopping tasks and the evictions. This show will have a very small studio audience, celebrity guests and psychological analysis from professionals.
Big Brother: Live From The House
Nightly at 11pm on Channel 5
Instead of a nightly spin-off, I suggest including episodes of live streaming from the House in the regular schedule. The episodes on Monday – Thursday and Sunday would last for 60 minutes, the episode on Friday for 75 minutes , and Saturday 30 minutes.
Big Brother: Revealed
Daily at 6pm on Channel 5
I suggest that to compensate for the loss of Big Brother's Bit on the Side, Channel 5 produce a daily 30 minute programme that is just one presenter and no audience, informing viewers of the biggest stories from the House.
