Yup......

For every evil in the world there is also good. I lost my mum very recently to cancer and I was angry because it took her so quickly and so young. I then look at my son who I conceived naturally after 10 + years of fertility treatments and heartbreak and bring told I would never have my own child. Do I believe god did was to blame for either of those things. I honestly don't know. As an atheist it's very easy to say that god is monsterous because you don't believe.

That's why religion should be personal, IMO

A lot of people can grow up to be either depending on the influences they have around them, the type of parents that bring them up.

Being somebody who is not a practicing catholic I don't take offence however I can see why some people like my mum and dad who are both practicing Catholics who go to church every Sunday would take offence from Fry's comments

I don't quite get what your saying here. Most people have their own views on religion and it's pretty much the same in this thread as it is in any thread on religion. The fact that stephen fry has said it doesn't really mean anything to me....my thoughts would be the same if anyone said it.
