Listen... I love the Americans, like all nationalities we all have different characteristics both in looks and behaviour. In my job I deal with ALL nationalities, some don't say please or thank you...some never smile, some are more demanding than others...some are more laid back than others...its a cultural thing. Americans do not get our sense of humour and equally we don't get theirs.... It's not being disrespectful..it's being honest.

I disagree... But then I disagree about the over reaction to a lot of things that are seen as being 'racial' and bigoted. We are all different in our cultures and people should be able to recognise that and accept it so long as it isn't portrayed as being 'wrong' and not stated in a detrimental way.
When KH says something like...well they are American...at first you think Oh she can't say that...but then why cant she?... Americans have their ways as the British have theirs etc etc...its culture..it's different nationalities with different characteristics...

I totally agree. We do need to be tolerant but being honest about other nationalities traits and behaviour is not being disrespectful.
It upsets me that someone perceives my views as bigoted. I respect and tolerate differences in cultures, I have spent all of my working life amoungst people from all over the world...which is why I recognise how very different we all are from nationalities and even regions of our own country. I don't think she slagged off Americans as 'lacking in humour'...she insinuates 'they don't get our humour'. If I have got that wrong then I don't and won't defend her.
I have joked with Americans and they laugh at my 'dry' humour once the penny has dropped. Take for example 'the Office'..I love that programme, but not every one does, everyone has there own humour. When the Americans created their own version I found it predictable and unfunny. The only American humour I have found brilliant is Friends..which I love more than the Office. Each to their own, we all have different takes on it. Please don't call me a bigot. It's your opinion that you think 90 per cent of movies etc from America provide us with the most humour...that's your opinion but not mine but that doesn't make me a bigot.

Katie H only slags off Americans in reference to Perez tbf. Perez epitomizes the self-loving nature and OTT-ness she relates to Americans (not fair to any nationality IMO, but everyone gets generalized). Does/did Katie H have a problem with Cami, Michelle, Jeremy, Alex, or Callum? I enjoy many Brit shows and many American shows, some are my sense of humor and some are not. We are all very diverse and to generalize about a generalization is wrong as well.......... Irony.

There are very few American programmes which emulate our sense of humour, I think the Golden Girls and Frazier were the most popular and they were huge both sides of the Atlantic.
The American humour is prevalent in the Simpsons and Friends.
Some can cross the divide, mostly they don't.

No, not insulting, look how many of our top comedians have not made it in the USA.
It is just culturally difference, many Americans have a strong sense of Patriotism, Religion and manners.
It is almost the same as UK comedians make jokes about, it just doesn't travel.
There are a few who cross the divide like Joan Rivers, but not many.

Michelles an interesting one isn't she. Initially I wanted her to win. She's got this incredibly hard looking face when she's got her make-up on and she makes out that she says it like it is. I really thought she was going to be quite a formidable character. I now see her as the weakest and most apathetic person in the house. Wrong. Europeans arrived hundreds of years before and became Americans. With American Independence in 1776.
The mass slaughter and land grab was mainly in the nineteenth century and committed by Americans.

are brits still romans? or germans or french or all the places they originally came from?
obviously it's different now. america wasn't america yet during that slaughter, look at a map of that time, most of america was unexplored, so it wasn't America the country it is today. just like most of the countries of euro have changed their borders and governments in the past 250 years.

you're not listening, where a lot of that slaughter took place was not america yet. it was the wild west, unexplored territory being explored by european settlers. vast areas of what is now America was Spanish at the time.
