View Full Version : Katie Hopkins Is there something wrong with her?
Basically what the title asks but other than the epilepsy and the nastiness..
She seems like she has some sort of tic or similar, she pulls the weirdest faces and nods her head erratically during conversations that don't even involve her.
Then there's the complete unnecessary rolls of the entire head just to roll her eyes at something.
Very odd.

Ok,in that case I'll go sit on the naughty step :bawling:
I don't think it's because there is anything wrong with her.
She only does it in certain circumstances and I think it's because she thinks the camera might be on her. She is not a good actor in terms of body language so it comes out all a bit odd. Like her excessive hand signals in the diary room.
I think she gurns to express emotion in situations either where she is forcing it or not able to express naturally. There's quite a lot that is socially awkward about her, but I don't think that's anything wrong.

I don't think you are a bad person Jack! I am just bewildered about why people like her because she does not come across as likeable to me. Re asbergers if it is a confirmed diagnosis then it would explain her emotional detachment some of her oddness and the relentlessness when she picks a bone with someone like going after Keith. It doesn't excuse it IMO but it would explain it. But for me she screams sociopath rather than asbergers.

You make a good point, the lack of empathy you find with Asperger's is also a major factor when diagnosing a person with "Sociopathic" tendances. I don't view a sociopath as an absolute negative, the meaning has been twisted by Hollywood to a degree.

As for her gang. I think they are all aware of what kind of person she is but chose to stick with her in order not to be targeted & stay in longer.

I thnk she is just driven by greed.
She has no real talent, therefore it is easier to just 'act out' her hate.
She is clever enough to know that controversy sells, just not clever enough to realise you reap what you sow, one day Karma will come and bite her on the backside.
The only thng mssing from her brain is a conscience, she cares not who she hurts or damages by her articles. The media that employ her or give her a platform to spew her bile are just as guilty.

I see what you mean but does her emotional detachment make her a horrible person. Or does her being a horrible person make her emotionally detached. I guess is it a cause or effect?
I think it's worrying to narrow what is "normal" in human behaviour and responses and treat too much outside of that as a "disorder".
Where things affect ones ability to cope or deal with life effectively, then indeed diagnoses can be more than just useful.
It is also argued that we need humans with a different mix or degree of different traits and as long as they aren't dysfunctional then we shouldn't be too concerned about saying something is "wrong".
In certain circumstances it could be seen as highly desirable to have a less empathetic or more sociopathic leaning for survival.

Very well put and I totally agree, Katie in a real survival situation would be a better companion that most other people. Certainty in a genuine war situation she would make a good leader. That's why I don't think she has a mild form of aspies. Aspies tend to deflect people rather than draw them in. They tend to be a little or a lot eccentric which is more likely to deter friendships than encourage it. Aspies don't have superficial charm and although they do offend people, its not deliberate and they tend not to be aware that they have offended. Katie Hopkins is very aware when she's offending. Its deliberate and its calculated.
Katie Hopkins tends to look for weakness in a person and use that weakness for her own gain. That isn't something an aspies would do. Her blunt emotional reactions could be that of an aspie but that's as far as it goes and we must keep in mind that blunt emotional reactions are something we commonly see in sociopaths. The pursing of the lips and the twisting and contorting of the mouth in peculiar ways is something that is seen in sociopaths a lot.

No, they aren't the weakest but they are emphatic types and because they have a big dose of empathy, they are more open to using their own intuition and are therefore more likely to question her motives. The real victims of a sociopath are those willing to follow her, not because they are mean spirited but because they are less likely to regard their own intuition as anything more than a silly thought. They are more open to her superficial charm; more taken in by her fake niceties. A sociopath sees empathic people as a threat but once she has her back up team behind her, she will go about destroying them with cool wit and a sharp tongue.
No...this isn't something an Aspies would do.

I think that Katie H's weird expressions are her way of mocking people and being condescending when listening to a person talking, without having to say anything.
KH is a very animated speaker. She uses her entire body to express her opinions. I think its something she has learnt to do as it reinforces any positions she takes in arguments. Perez is very similar to her in that regard. Her body movement when others are talking is an inability to let others have an opinion without having some sort of input. Even if she doesn't say anything, people know what she is thinking. Its also very interesting that the other housemates always look to her for some sort of gesture of acceptance if they make a point in a discussion.
Contrast this behaviour to Michelle who is almost a polar opposite. It would be almost impossible to work out what Michelle was thinking

I think if anyone had a touch of Aspergers it was Alicia. There was a lot of emotional indifference from Alicia and she didn't understand untruths. She wasn't worried about speaking her mind and that included revealing truths about herself that most people would staunchly hide.
Parez and Hopkins are absolutely facinating. Parez (and this is only my opinion) is a narcissist. Grandiosity, loud and very emotional in a self pitying sort of way.
I should just say, sociopaths are narcissistic but narcissists are not sociopaths...both are self serving, neither apologise, though a sociopath can fain an apology. Whilst narcissists have little regard for the rules and can behave in a very unruly way, a functioning sociopath will be much calmer and more calculated in their actions. Narcissists becomes easily frustrated and loud when they want to get their point across, whereas a sociopath feels no frustration at all and will appear ultimately calm in most situations.
Put a sociopath with a narcissist and the sociopath will take delight in torturing that narcissist like a helpless kitten. Whilst everyone else in the house found Parez exhausting, Katie Hopkins found him entertaining and took delight in bringing out his narcissistic traits and using those traits to squash him like a fly.

I agree with your assessment of Perez and his relationship with Hopkins. What I find harder to understand is the public demonization of him. I am not a fan but can't see that he has done anything to warrant the hate, he's annoying but he isn't a bully like James Jordan. He isn't kicking any puppies.(Hopkins is the puppy kicker in the house). The Perez hate seems a little OTT.

TBH any hate is ott, for me the moment Perez seemingly at random attacked Katie in the grave task was the moment I was fixed in my dislike for him, everything else just reinforced that feeling. It just seemed so vicious, spiteful and random.

I think some people can get overly obsessive and when that happens they tend to demonize anyone who annoys the person they are fixated on. There has certainly been a lot of that going on in here. We all see things differently and make judgements accordingly. It only gets frustrating when we can't convert the masses..."why can't they see what we see?", "Why can't we see what they see?" Our expectations exceed what can be delivered and that's what causes frustration.
Its interesting that Katie Price can't see the demon in Parez. Yes he's annoying, yes he's obnoxious, loud and too full of himself a lot of the time and to an extent he became the victim of his own making, but there are things I like about Parez. There's nothing forced about him which makes him very transparent; I guess I like that transparency.

Very odd.
I'm glad I'm not the only one it seems she can't physically go five minutes without gurning

Bit surprised at you Josy, you're usually the first to say something at the suggestion that HMs are mentally challenged due to their behaviour in the house.

Yes because asking if she has a tic is suggesting that she is mentally challenged.

You're suggesting she has cerebral palsy or something then as well as her epilepsy?
If she did it when she spoke to everyone then you'd maybe have a point but it's only as a way to distract those she's having a disagreement with.

:clap1: agree totally

she came in with a huge game plan but found that this experience has taken her way out of her normal comfort zone thats why she look very awkward
or
could be simple that she is as mad as a hatter
either way who cares

Jeez could you reach any further.
Abnormalities in the brain can cause tics, Katie has told people she has part of her brain missing....
You have taken ONE thing that could possibly cause a tic and accused me of suggesting she has it?
I asked if she has a tic and that's what I meant.

She does it to undermine people and patronise them, far from being involuntary I think it is very calculating.
