This is a message I recieved on my phone tonight. I didn't recogize the number which was odd, so my other half phoned the number from his own phone and got through to what was either an SMS dialer or a foreign country.
I called my dad and he's fine.
If I text this number back and fortunately my husband stopped me doing this, I would probably of been charged a considerable amount of money.
Be warned, people are stooping to these sort of levels to steal money off you.

Bloody horrific. I mean we've had the standard 'this is talk talk, can you please put the following into your computer' scam, but nothing of this extreme.

Ring your provider and report this :(
I would but my husband has access to finding out exactly who this person/people are. He will interogate that number tomorrow before reporting it to the DMA.

That's not new been around for a few years.
They usually originate from Nigeria where most of the telephone scams come from.
Where I live in Cambs. we had a recent scam.
An Eastern European woman was knocking on doors claiming to have broken down, she asks if she can make a short phone call and will offer to pay.
She then rings a number which is £50 a minute for as long as she can, you don't find out for some time, quite a good little scam that one.

There are some really sick bastards out there. We had a scam going around in this country last year, where people would ring up and try to get your bank details by pretending to be from Microsoft. They all had strong Indian accents, so assume the calls were coming from there.
Anyway one old lass had a good idea. She pretended to be a bit vague, said 'I'll just turn my computer on, it's old and will take a couple of minutes'. then put the phone (still connected) down and went and did something else for about an hour.
They couldn't hang up, so they would have got nothing except a hefty phone bill.
