I believed that if I made a train and closed my eyes and sang the care Bear countdown when i opened them that I'd end up in Care Bear world. I was devastated when it didn't work :(
I also believed my uncle (who at the time was a missionary priest in Kenya) when he told me that I could go to Africa with him after I had an argument with my mom, I packed my suitcase and all but he never took me :(

Not so much a strange belief but I bought into the lie that Crack Cocaine is in some way a hard drug but powder cocaine is glamorous. As this article and countless others prove that is bullsh*t. They are essentially the same thing the only difference is the removal of hydrochloride in crack cocaine so it can be smoked, everything else is the same. Yet the sentencing for crack is so much harsher than powder. It is IMO one of the biggest lies ever sold to us.

I used to believe there was a mouse in traffic lights and that's how they changed colour... Hmm, I can't think about what else I used to believe. I'll post more when I remember.

How would a mouse being in there change the colour?

Never mind changing the colour, how would a mouse get into a set of traffic lights

I bought a Mighty Moose bar and I really thought that I would get super powers if I eat it. Sadly i did not
:fist:
I also fell for the crack story, but I blame my Grandmother as her nose always looked like Mount Fuji

The mouse controlled them of course! He can see all the traffic from up there, you see.
I blame this film for making me think so

I really believed it. I was horrified when I found out the truth.
I was always told that if I told a lie, then a spot would appear on my tongue. I believed it right up until I was 13 too... But I found it, it was just because I was slightly allergic to tomatoes. When my mum thought I was lieing she would somehow add a tomato in my dinner. Very strange.

There was a pattern on my curtains in my bedroom that I believed looked vaguely like witches if they were viewed at a certain angle, and so every night I saw it and was convinced that witches were going to fly into my room and kill me.
Our house was burgled and for months after (maybe even years IDK) I thought there was a burgler hiding under the bed so I used to run and jump onto my bed so that they couldn't grab my legs

There was a church thing in EK when i was little (I think it was a pillar with a light in it and it had notices on) My mum told me baby jesus was in it at the bottom and she used to hold me up and I would look down inside and see him, or at least i saw a light and imagined the rest.

Two main things:
I was told that if I swallowed chewing gum it would stick to my heart and stop it and I'd die. (thank God for anatomy and phsysiology lessons:laugh:)
And the other: my dad was very muscular and he used to pretend that he'd got a mouse in his closed hand, pretend to swallow it, then would make his biceps 'dance' and tell us it was the mouse. I played the same trick on my kids when they were small.

I remember over hearing a conversation between my daughters when they were about 8, it was about death and one daughter said...."when your times up, its up, god will come and get you..."

When our first house got burgled after we came back from a holiday I believed evil/nasty cats destroyed the house and stole stuff, I would go on as a kid to see a cat in the street and be careful approaching it just incase it was an evil cat that destroys houses and steals belongings.
When we moved into our new house there were no chimneys and I wondered how Santa got in the house, my dad jokingly said he comes in through the window or the back door. For the 3/4 years after that I believed in Santa every Christmas I would make sure a window or door was left unlocked for Santa to get in

I used to believe there was a man in the moon..even used to talk to him when walking home in the dark to stop me worrying about snakes.
Always thought a snake was going to jump out of the loo when I was sat in it..to this day if I am stressed I think there could be a snake in the bed and check it out before getting in.
On yeah, I have this thing abou snakes:hehe:

Prior to starting school, I thought the classroom was called a "glassroom", so I pictured a room inside a giant drinking glass. :umm2:
I also thought the rag and bone men were coming to abduct me for some reason, I was terrified of them.
Also, I was told that the angel on top of the Christmas tree was alive, and on Christmas Eve she'd grow big and help Santa when he brought the presents. I think this was meant to be a nice idea, but I'd look at the angel's eyes and be convinced they followed me when I moved. :umm2:

I went to convent school and one of the nuns told us kids that if we were naughty she would throw holy water over us and it would burn us. Needless to say, I was a naughty child that was terrified of holy water.

In the loft of my house, the roof was sort of "foil lined". It had metallic, shiny stuff on it anyway. My dad also had a habit of going into the loft for things and leaving the hatch open. Just above the hatch on the roof, some of the foil stuff had come away in a sort of jagged pattern. For years (and I mean, years) I was terrified to walk under the open loft hatch, because I 100% believed that it was claw marks, that some sort of beast lived up there, and that it might reach down and snatch me. I used to run / dive / crawl / skid along the floor under that hatch (it was right in front of my bedroom!) in absolute terror.

Can remember my old man used to keep his boat at a sailing club just beyond this massive power station, he always told me it was where a bunch of giants lived and that they would all come out at night. One night we were meant to be staying the night on the boat and I was scared sh*tless that the giants were gonna come out in the middle of the night and take me, threw such a big tantrum over it refusing to go that eventually he relented and told me it wasn't true. Very cruel father really :idc:
