I keep hearing this but I was brought up on bread and I love it.
I have about 8 slices a day. :)

I only have it on the morning. I think everything in moderation is fine.

For most people, in moderation it is fine.
So much lovely bread out there, be a shame not to indulge.
I don't eat white bread, I did when I was younger but now I find it makes me feel really sluggish, I only eat wholemeal.

I did find that when I stopped eating white bread I lost weight without trying, but bread is so hard to resist when freshly baked and buttered:lovedup: I really like seeded bread

Yeah bread is lovely, especially when it's fresh like you say and loads of butter.
Thanks for the replies. I couldn't give it up for good. Like James Corden.

yes but so is every else so eat and enjoy. we're all going to die anyway. You could be the healthiest person in the world, run each morning at 6 am and exercise regularly but still die of a heart attack or cancer. So eat to your hearts content.

White Bread "apparently" is, but rye bread is very healthy.
Especially the Finnish kind.

Pure B.S. I'm sick of quasi-scientific hokum like this. I wonder how Homo Sapiens has ever made it this far with all the stuff we have eaten for thousands of years being deemed at some time or another to be 'bad for you' by modern man?

I once gave up bread for Lent. It was really hard as I love the stuff. Preferably wholewheat (Hovis is lovely) But I'm not a bread snob, anything will do.

Has anyone tried the salt and pepper tiger bread from tesco? I can't buy it as I have stopped eating bread but it is quite simply the best bread I have ever tasted.

I keep looking at it but haven't eaten white bread for ages it makes me feel so ill now when I do. I have seedy brown bread and love it.. if I have to go gluten free I'm going to cry!

Carbs will make you gain weight. It's up to you. If you're overweight, I'd say bread is probably not a good idea to indulge in.

Sounds like you may have a gluten allergy.
I try to eat as little as possible cuz I don't really take in alot of carbs. I might have a slice of toast every now and again but I regularly go multiple days without bread,

Same it doesn't make me feel sluggish I just don't like it. I only eat Morrisons cranberry and pumpkin seed bread tbh or I always ask for brown if I'm having a sandwich somewhere as I don't even have sandwiches usually I usually have wraps

it's not very vitamin and nutrient rich if that's what you're asking. but if you are expending a lot of energy, carbs are energy, if you need sources of pure energy, carbs are good for you. if you need vitamins and nutrients though, bread will not help you.
But it's like that old trope... if you are starving to death in the desert, a vitamin pill is not going to save your life, but a hot dog will. Is a hot dog healthy? in that circumstance, yes.
