I seem to remember that rule being used up to as recently as the '98 world cup... I'm not sure if it's happened since

For football, as i know, there is no rule that name is golden goal.
Also i remember too, euro 2000. Henry and wiltord :)
According to wiki it's used in the beach soccer world cup lol, think its been abolished in all FIFA tournaments though. I can see why they'd get rid of it, instead of making it exciting it can make teams less reluctant to attack in case they get done over on the counter, if they get the whole 30 minutes they can play with a lot more freedom. Silver goal was a decent attempt at a compromise I guess but it didn't last very long
