Just been playing this, its fantastic, it's the game that should have followed Sim City 4, it just feels so good to play, funnily, if you build a dam in the wrong place, you can flood your city xD

The day/night cycle will be added to the game for free, but the features for the cycle will be in the expansion, which is pretty decent

There's gonna be other weather modes, but they're gonna be added for free, snow is the only on that will impact the gameplay.

New info
http://i.imgur.com/vkAFr6rl.png
In Snowfall, the difficulty heats up when the city cools down, thanks to a new in-game temperature reading that will have residents bundling up for warmth when the weather outside is frightful. Cosmetic weather, composed of rain and fog, will be added to Cities: Skylines as part of a free update, along with other features to be announced soon. Players who own Snowfall will get to face new challenges such as ensuring that their city infrastructure can handle seasonal heating demands – and, when the snow starts falling, that the roads can stay clear. New snowplow services will be required to prevent traffic from freezing in place, while new all-weather trams and expanded public transit options can help residents and visitors alike get around town – and visit the new winter parks and landmarks available in Snowfall.
Snowfall will include:
Now is the Winter of This Content: Rain and fog for existing maps, plus a new “Winter” map theme with snow and all of its challenges
The Streetcars You Desire: Expanded public transportation options, including easier management of existing lines – and Trams, a new system demanded by fans
World Warmth, Too: Cold weather increases demands for electricity, unless new water-based heat systems are in place
Plowers to the People: Build a snowplow depot to keep traffic flowing during winter weather, and employ new road maintenance systems to keep your streets in shape
New Chirps: #yeahthereare

I just restarted playing SC4 and am using the NAM mod to fix the traffic simulator
This is my next game. Speaking of flooding, they need to release Cities - FEMA expansion... When Disaster Strikes whose going to handle all those payouts  With news station coverage, radio chatter, helicopters, flood maps, disaster recovery and all...
I can joke because of where I live. We have such a problem with flooding because the city is so spread out it's covered a good deal of nature's flood plains. It should be including the game mechanic because it's a real problem with suburban sprawl especially if you live in a tropical climate.

I got this in a steam sale and gave it a go a few days ago. I swear I can't figure it out. Everyone was miserable and no one would get jobs... like everyone was unemployed, and all the commercial places were like "8 jobs available". Lazy bastards.

Build a bigger bridge, or more bridges, or seperate the land fill roads from the industrial and have a bridge leading to each!

I just learned it as I went - didn't see any tutorial, apart from the tips at the start - which is a lot to go through.
I watch this guy's videos lol - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYzO4HZxgXc2UJQD5bIo8AQ
Some of my industries - but not others - don't have enough workers. The advice I read was you reduce education in your city?

I think you gotta sort of balance it, have both educated and uneducated workers in your city

I built like 4 massive bridges but they all try to use the same one. I feel like it's time to start a new city with better planning :joker:

tbf you can take it as slow as you want, you can have a tiny village with a few houses so long as the income is balanced and it'll just look after itself until you deliberately "scale up"... just don't try to scale up too fast and end up with approx. 70 garbage trucks stuck on a bridge

I always build my Bus and Garbage way out of the main population centres. I also zone little bits of industry dotted about. I don’t put it in one area because the traffic is dire. It helps if the industry has access to a highway too.
Scarlett.

The traffic can be quite a pain lol
btw, James when you next check this thread could you edit out the "Natrual disasters" bit as its outdated xD

I started a new city and it has the landfills down in the bottom corner, 6-lane road running down to it, which then branches off into the actual town. It's so efficient and beautiful :flutter:
