BREAKING: Willy Moon & Natalia Kills FIRED From X Factor

In a statement this afternoon, MediaWorks chief executive Mark Weldon said the decision had been made Kills and Moon were no longer suitable to judge X Factor, just hours before tonight's live elimination show.

It's understood the media company was under extreme pressure from sponsors to take action against the pair.

“Last night on X Factor both Kills and Moon made comments that were completely unacceptable. While the judges on X Factor are expected to provide critiques of the performances, we will not tolerate such destructive tirades from any of the judges,” he said.

“Contestants put their all into this competition and they should expect to receive feedback and criticism that is professional and constructive. We no longer have confidence that Kills and Moon are the right people to perform the role of X Factor judges and they will leave the show, effective immediately.”

It is not known yet as to whether they will be replaced, and a source has reported that only the other two judges Mel Blatt & Stan Walker will appear on tonight's show.

Simon Cowell has spoken out about his decision to axe Natalia Kills and her husband Willy Moon from New Zealand’s version of The X Factor after they were seen launching a tirade of ‘hateful’ abuse against a contestant.

The 55-year-old music mogul has confessed he was left with no choice but to sack the judges after they refused to ‘genuinely’ apologise for the comments they made to a contestant named Joe Irvine.

‘It was hateful. She sounded mad. It didn’t even make sense,’ Simon told the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.

Natalia had accused Joe of copying her husband’s style before claiming his performance had been ‘cheesy’, ‘disgusting’ and ‘absolutely artistically atrocious’ with Willy adding that he felt as though the contestant was going to ‘stitch someone’s skin’ to his face and then ‘kill everybody in the audience’.

Simon added: ‘Where they cocked up was that they didn’t apologise straight away. If they’d both been genuinely sorry and called me, and apologised to the guy and his family, who knows what could have happened. They didn’t. They were quite defensive.’
