I think some of the things he says are D/s and as long as she's game then its all fun from their on in but some of the things he says like, "When this monster entered my brain" and "I am a monster" are warning bells that the man probably is a psychopath.

I read the book in French because that way I wouldn't get caught up in the story but I would improve my French!. Won't be going to see the movie, though I do like a bit of S&M from time to time (giving not taking!)

I only know what I have been told about the book. One of my daughter's friends used the book as a basis for an assignment in her English class. She has told me some rather disturbing things about how the book disguises abuse as S&M and how at one point the girl says no, or uses the safe word but the guy just carries on against her will. She also says that she finds it a bit off that the author never uses the word 'penis' but will happily downplay emotional abuse and dress it up as romance.

Again, I haven't read it.. but she's a smart kid, and I doubt she is exaggerating.

Not sure I class it as the 'mommy porn' it has been labelled. The media presume everyone over 30 who has children will be loving these books. I fit that criteria and I am not rushing out to buy a copy.

Yeah, it wouldn't be my thing tbh. I've heard conflicting stories about it. I did hear what you said there, that at one point she uses the safe word and he ignores her but then i also heard someone say that's not true so i don't know, I haven't read it and don't plan to either
