i want England to beat other teams and other nations when we pay rugby football cricket tennis snooker golf tiddly winks etc
but isn't that now racist in PC England......im biased against all other countries I only want England to win. I sing for England for the monarchy for my fellow English men and women...isn't that xenophobic....isn't everyone the same all people all races all nationalities? now they want to put a limit on non English foreign players. is that racist too? why cheer one country over another? do you feel youre country is superior? mentally physically morally? isn't that bigoted against these other nations? if you take the new language of new labour to the end degree isn't it racist to support England? is it now racist to support any country over another.

I don't care. For me Britain/England is where my heart is and will always come first over any other country in the world.
Rule Brittania and if that makes me a racist, so be it.

It's not racist, I often feel that the word racist gets thrown around a lot when it is totally inappropriate to do so.
Nothing wrong at all in being a strong national who supports their country and all achievements possible from and as to it, whether on serious matters or in sporting/competitive matters.

You are confusing racism with patriotism, it is natural to be proud of the country of your birth

This Sceptered Isle
This royal throne of kings, this scepter'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England

Sometimes I wonder how fun it would be to make an account and make a load of stupid threads which basically cover the exact same thing. Anybody know of anyone who can help me work out what it's like?

Depends on context. I see a lot of 'patriots' who are actually xenophobes. Loving the country though is not racist at all, since what I perceive the country's general values to be love, acceptance, and diversity it could not be further from the truth.

I usually see you bashing this country like it's the realm of Satan himself so I'm actually genuinely and pleasantly surprised at the bit you put in bold.

True that Josh, just as true as the fact that a lot of the people who criticise 'patriots' are actually traitors.
It takes all kinds I suppose.

You would be lying if you said there were not people who label themselves as a patriot but are actually just xenophobes. I happily criticise that bunch of people who are actually nothing more than closet racists, the people who are proud of Britain but express that in a non-racist way I never have and never will criticise.

And I believe that Helen may be referring to other posts Samuel has made in which he has expressed certain sentiments which could be interpreted as 'unpatriotic'. Though he is certainly not alone in that respect on this forum.

I, JoshBB hereby declare in this thread from months ago (that will be brought up in the future) that World War 2 was started by Great Britain after Hitler got offended at 'the Germans' episode of Fawlty Towers and demanded Neville Chamberlain apologise. He didn't apologise though so it was only fair Hitler walked into Poland and had some of his army go on holiday there for a bit. Britain declared war and the rest is history...
Indisputable proof.
