View Full Version : Fear The Walking Dead - Season 4 Airs April 2018

AMC's upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff is on the way, and it just got a title: Fear the Walking Dead. Series creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman made the announcement on Twitter this afternoon:
The news comes only days before The Walking Dead's season five finale airs on Sunday night. The timing, however, is fitting; AMC announced earlier today that the trailer for the companion series would air after the finale.
Fear the Walking Dead, which got a two-season order earlier this month, is set to debut this summer. The series, which is set in Los Angeles, follows the zombie outbreak and breakdown of society before the events of the main series. Expect AMC to push the new series hard in the run-up to its premiere, as it now joins Better Call Saul as potential big draw for the network after the end of Mad Men this spring.

I wonder how many episodes for the first season are planned.
I recognise Kim Dickens in the cast from Lost, I always liked her despite her being relatively minor so I'm looking forward to her having a prominent role in this show. :)

Oh that's a good number, same as the main show's first season. I had a feeling they'd start off with a short run.

Yeah I think it'll work well. It airs late summer so might leads us right into season 6

Pretty excited about this.. will be refreshing being in a different area with different characters having new outlooks on the zombie outbreak.. Hopefully a trailer will air after the finale

Yeah I thought I posted about that.
A trailer will air tonight after the finale.

Didn't realize until now that Alycia Debnam Carey had been cast as one of the leads. I know her from The 100, she's hot and a good actress. My anticipation has suddenly gone up.

I'll give it a chance but I expect it'll be terrible. The Walking Dead became filler filled rubbish after the second season and they've only just POSSIBLY got it back on track.

Really enjoyed the first episode.. Was a bit sceptical if they could pull off another show similar to TWD whilst making it feel completely different and it's worked. Nick reminded me a bit of Edward Scissorhands the way he walked and behaved & Alycia is a solid 10/10

Finally got round to watching this. Pretty decent start, I really like the characters especially Nick, and the setting is great too. I wasn't a fan of having to wait until the end for a walker to appear though, but I suppose that and the slow build up is to be expected with a pilot show. Looking forward to episode 2 now!

Watched the second episode of this, I really liked it! :)
Even though it's a TWD spin-off, it feels really quite different (the whole style of the show etc). That's not a bad thing of course, there's little point in making a spin-off if it's going to essentially be a carbon copy of the original.
Firewire
05-09-2015, 03:16 PM

Visage
14-09-2015, 10:48 PM
I find it pretty compelling as these people are running for safety unaware of what is happening around them.
They don't know or can't understand that these people are dead and they are walking on the same ground as them.
It was also great to see the army take some control, I hope that develops further. I'm not looking for just a group of people fighting for their lives, I have TWD for that.
Niamh.
16-09-2015, 02:44 PM
Yeah same Visage, I like how it's different to TWD in that way and we get to see them go from normality into the crisis and beyond.
Niamh.

Episode 5 was really good
For me, Fear TWD has a much more sinister feel to it, I think maybe because there's less Zombies and Zombie killings so far. It's hard to compare the two of them actually because they feel like such different shows
Natalie.

same Natalie, he seems interesting
..episode 5...
..I agree about the more sinister feel than TWD..in the 'after', the enemy are clear to see, even if they're humans and not the Walkers...this is much more blurred because they're not really enemies as such...Salazar was torturing him but this was someone he liked../this was a good person, not a bad person but Salazar knew what he felt had to be done..and he's obviously gone to that 'darkness' before...it's almost like understanding characters like The Governor more as well, because he was once a good guy with a family he loved ..but there would be no or very little 'good' left in their situation...most f the army are good people but they're going to be part of doing something inhumane..and also how Madison went from not being able to end what had been her neighbour because she still saw 'human'..to yes, ok..I'll walk away while you do this../torture him...I love Salazar's character and also the new character that Nick has just met..also a 'survivor' but in a completely different way so it'll be good to see how he develops and why Nick is important to him...
..I'm looking forward to TWD coming back but I'm wishing now that FoTWD 1st series was going to be longer...
Natalie.

..I was thinking the same and I don't know the exact purpose but with all of the things that he must have stored on the boat as well as in the house...(I think..)..he possibly has lots of drug supplies as well ..and he may see Nick and his dependence/drug habit as someone easy to manipulate for whatever his plan is ..so maybe as Madison is helping him to get back slowly, Strand will be feeding him and making him totally dependant on him/controlling him...I'm usually wrong with most of these things though...

I think at the end of S1 they discovered the plans about the government/military bombing the state, so that's why they went to Stand's house to get on the boat and travel to a safer state, which is why at the start of S2 there were bombs being dropped and walkers coming towards them

Just watched the last episode. Strand is such a massive ****. :idc:
I think it's safe to say that we'll see Alex again though.
Best episode yet, I love Nick and Madison as well for stabbing that ****
I didn't expect that strand twist before the episode but while watching I got hints that there was some tension between them both, it's kinda funny that before the episode I thought he wanted to get to Mexico because he's part of this secret group but the reality is he wants to see his lover

They need to stop making out like Travis is the leader. It's clearly Madison. I bet he never dies either and loads of good characters are killed off instead of him
They need to stop teasing us with Alex as well and just make her a permanent part of every ep. She's clearly the Michonne/Carol/Rosita type of character and she'll probably end up being my fave overall

That's been bugging me for ages - why was he still in the old man clothes?? He ended up wearing them because he took them from the old guy in the hospital so he could leave... But then... He spent plenty of time not only in a house but in HIS OWN house! Why was he still wearing the random old guy's suit?? :joker:
He is the best character by far IMO. Him and Strand were really the only good parts of S1. However the quality of S2 has gone up considerably, I think everyone fits well, although Travis is bland and his son still grates on my nerves. Although less than in S1 "Dad...? Daaad?...... Daddd?????"... Shut up!
It's a good show now in its own right and they've managed to make it different enough, in pacing and tone, to really make it seem totally separate to TWD rather than just a tacked on extra.

We were saying the other night, if FTWD does get cancelled they should just copy-paste him over to TWD. It's meant to be a couple of years later, so he would have theoretically had plenty of time to make his way across the country, and he would have been surviving for years so his skillz would be on par with the TWD ninjas... At least... As he seems to have taken to it even faster so far. Have him make some vague comment about his whole family dying, et voila!
He could even bring his sister. She's been sort of **** in this so far but the actress was decent (and also totes ninja) in "The 100" and would make a convincing survivor if she stopped being an annoying stroppy teenager.
Bonus points if they throw in a flashback of Travis and his son dying horribly. Hahaha...

Get someone to build you a Kodi box with Exodus on it, big shows like this will usually be on it the day after they air in the US.
It's also fairly easy to sideload Kodi onto things like the Amazon Fire set top box or Apple TV if you have anything like that. Or if you have an android based Tablet, the app is on Google Play. You'd just need to look up a tutorial for adding Exodus, but there are loads of step-by-step ones.

I don't mind watching TV shows on my tablet if I'm on my own, although Kodi/Exodus (once the initial setup is done) is much less faff than using the websites - it basically just works like Netflix. So its a one-time hassle for less hassle repeatedly.
For watching shows with someone else, or for watching movies, has to be the big screen + soundbar and sub, with lights off. Like a mini cinema! I'd have surround sound but it's too loud with kids in bed :joker:

Yeah how did they manage to ruin Nick :/. Wife has a theory that Celia (who is obviously not dead...) has been putting something in the food which has made Nick go weird, and Daniel with his hallucinations / flashbacks. Maybe even Chris, although he was already going weird before they got there, and I think we're all just hoping that Chris and Travis have wandered off into the Mexican wilderness never to be seen again .
I really hope Nick is drugged, rather than just having had his character wrecked. Meh.

I don't know but Strand and also Madison and Alicia have sort of been keeping themselves to themselves so maybe haven't had as much / any of the same things? Or alternatively, we know that Cecilia is interested in keeping Nick around (as another of her "sons") and she also seemed interested in converting Daniel to her way of thinking, whereas she wasn't intersted in Madison or Alicia and actively wanted Strand to be gone ASAP, so it could have been selective.
With Travis and Chris, I get the feeling that they don't want to kill them off but are responding to the viewers' reaction to them (i.e. no one likes them!) so they've sent them away, perhaps to have them return at a later date as "changed characters"...

Hold on a minute... look how young Carl was... Wut! Only like 2 years is supposed to have passed! Haha. The only way I can accept it is that he started out a very young looking 12 year old and is now supposed to be around 15, which I guess the actor could convincingly play (15/16) for years. Celia's really reminding me of Hershel with her attitude towards walkers and keeping them locked up (and feeding live animals to them :omgno: :fist:), but a much darker version who casually poisons people.
She's a really interesting character, just about to watch the mid-season finale but I hope she survives.
...First episode...
...a good first episode....I didn't mind that it was all about Nick because he's my favourite character and it's an interesting slant that he wants to find the Walker 'spirits' and feels some kind of connection to them...and I think some of the survivors at the new camp will be interesting as well...
...ahhhhhh, zombies again, it's like coming home....I've missed those critters...
Same Ammi, I love Nick so an episode around him is perfect the bit when the zombies were talking to him was creepy and put a more in-depth view on them as well

..yeah that creeped me out a bit as well, Samm... and maybe Celia's right when she protects them/their 'spirits'...mind you, I was thinking that it was probably hallucinating as well because he'd walked around 60 or so miles through Mexico with only really a few drops of water each day...I would drink that whole bottle he had in an afternoon on a warm day here.....

..I wasn't sure what her name was but yeah, I think she's going to be a good character...I loved the flashbacks and finding out about his dad and obviously Nick had things 'unresolved' with his dad as well...when he was watching the dogs being killed on the roof of the car and kind of smiling, he seems to have a real connection with death and I wonder if his need to believe Celia with the Walker spirits and to find them is to somehow connect with his dad again....
..I love Nick's character so much....and I hope that he doesn't become all about survival too quickly because I love the different slant of him being such a caring person...I did think it was out of character that he took the cake bar but hadn't thought that it would be for the child and 'she needed SOMETHING'...:flutter:...(I still didn't understand fully why her dad was fed to the wall, even when Liza explained it...was he ill/dying anyway..?..I liked Madison and Strand together as well and the bond they seem to be forming but I'm not sure that they would really be able to fend off the swarm with all that they had been drinking....another good episode...
..it was a good episode, I enjoyed it..I did think that it was Madison at first../the Walker..:worry:...it is starting to feel a little samey though with TWD characters ...Elena and Father Gabriel and Chris and Carl..although with Carl it was Walkers, Chris is going straight in there with the humans as well, which is a bit of a worry...

..a little bit of a slower episode but I enjoyed it and NO Chris as well..it did feel at the end though that it was quite abrupt and I wasn't sure if I didn't have the full vid or something because it ended mid conversation with Nick and Luciana...I'm loving their developing friendship....and also the friendship between Madison and Victor...
They kissed at the end, that's how it ended I think
..^^... ..oh yeah, that kind of became apparent at the beginning of this episode/a kiss..I hadn't seen it in the episode before though...
..probably my least favourite episode so far, I couldn't quite get into the groove of it...I was just starting to like Madison but she becomes all stifling mom with anything Nick related...I think I prefer when he's on his own and am not really into the group joining up again for a while...eeek..
...wow Travis...you're an all or nothing guy for sure...

Great last two episodes.
Wonder what Madison was talking about, having murdered before things started or something?
I liked that Travis scene. I didn't like how they killed Chris off in a flashback really, think he deserved a better death
All looks good going towards S3, Nick and his group and Ofelia captured by the same people it looks like?
I was hoping Strand would go with them in the car
Can't wait for season 3

I hope season 3 is better, I have found series 2 quite dull apart from maybe 3 episodes and I think the last 4 have been pretty bad - I'm finding it hard to care about anyone. I like Ofelia but I feel shes underused and I want Alex back.
Nick as a leader of a group is laughable.

I really enjoyed the series again, the only character I don't care / bored of is Nick (which made the ending a tad less exciting)
also confused as to why Strand stayed at the hotel rather than leave with them :suspect:

I must have missed that part about Madison, I thought she just meant about killing Celia?
I'm glad Chris got a flashback death, I hate him :hee:

Season 2 was definitely no where near as good as Season 1 but I still enjoyed it. Nick is still one of my favourite characters but you're right about him being a terrible leader, he's definitely better as a kind of lone wolf like he was in Season 1

Chris' death was so sad  I felt sorry for Travis tbh. Idk just the way how he didn't need to die and for him to just be left there without his Dad knowing where he is, is pretty dark.
Loved the second half of the season, and i'm intrigued to see what's going on with Nick at that 'refugee' camp next year.

He was pretty annoying at times but that doesn't make his death any less sad imo. The same for when Nicholas died. I'm just a bit disappointed that Chris' new 'bad guy' character was never fully explored. It would have been really interesting to see him become more and more unhinged, and to the point where Brandon and Derek were scared of him.

Yeah i agree they could have done more with him. Even if it was re-introducing him later in the series even more twisted, but I still don't care too much that he died.

..yeah I love Walker as well, Lostie.....also Sofia is a favourite across both shows...I loved everything about series 3, actually...it felt more like ‘old time’ TWD..becUse that seems to be wandering of a bit for me...and kind of losing its way a little...

"Brother's Keeper" and "This Land is Your Land" were two of the best episodes this show has done (and the latter is actually one of the best episodes of both shows) :clap1: I mean, the plot armour was strong with Alicia being the only survivor from the pantry  but I won't gripe too much because you can't say the season has been stingy on main character deaths and I know there are more before the end.

The ending of this latest episode I watched really gave me that feeling, the first time Fear has actually. And I love that now we're back to a smaller core group. I always preferred that to having tons of background characters, I think that's one of the reasons the main show hasn't really gelled much for me since they settled in Alexandria (and actually I think the main group atm has too many members too).

..I also like the Mexico setting in FTWD, that water has become the currency there, I think is a good take and variation from the other show...what did you think of Travis’ death, Lostie...?...I was quite annoyed at first because he was only just becoming more interesting as a character...but I think he probably had to die for Madison’s character to develop more...

I was never particularly attached to Travis but yeah he was getting more interesting in the wake of Chris' death but I love that the show took out such a major character so early (not just early in the season but the episode too, didn't he die in the very first scene of the episode? :skull:).
Ofelia's death was heartbreaking with her passing literally seconds before Daniel arrived. I've loved her story this season with her joining the Black Hat Reservation and the sort of surrogate father/daughter relationship with Walker. I was also rooting hard for her and Crazy Dog to get together dammit!
I do wish I didn't know about Travis, Jake and Ofelia dying in advance because they would have all been huge surprises but I have a bad habit of falling behind and then reading up on what I've missed :joker: Really looking forward to the final two episodes even though I know most of what happens :ninja2:
(I'm assuming it's safe for me to not use spoiler tags at this point )

..I hadn’t known about Ofelia, I hadn’t prepared for Ofelia, I just wasn’t ready for Ofelia, it was so hard to say goodbye to Ophelia ..not that it would ever be possible to be ready for such heart rendering sadness...but maybe I could have had more tissues at home.....it was just too, too cruel...
...I binged watched the last series at Christmas time and a friend was also binge watching at the same time...she texted me to say she’d seen some stuff on Twitter after Ofelia’s death with people tweeting...OMG, TAKE ME INSTEAD...THIS WORLD IS NOT SOMEWHERE I WANT TO BE ANYMORE!!!!!..SOB.......

Just got fully caught up on the current season
Nick dying out of nowhere is genuinely one of the most shocking things from both shows. I had read that the last episode had a big death so was anticipating something but Madison's absence from the present day scenes (and Nick being angry over something) had me expecting it to be her. Very glad it wasn't though, I know some people hate her but I love her
Althea and John are great new additions :clap1: Since Maggie Grace has always been Shannon from Lost to me, seeing her as a character who's so completely unlike Shannon is odd

I don't think Madison is dead anymore. I think she's with Naomi somewhere, probably Strand's almost-boyfriend too
"John Dorie. Like the fish, but ie not y" a more bad ass intro than "Bond. James Bond"? He reminds me of a cowboy version of Eugene with how he talks. But much better than Eugene
And Naomi reminds me of Carol. I like her too.

I thought Carol after Naomi and John's ep too
also regarding your spoiler (still putting it in as poiler even tho 4A finished a month ago)
:umm2: at the fact Madison's dead. I appreciate they killed her off because they made her character unlikable (she was personally my fav) and they probs wanted to get people back like "hey everyone the woman you hated so much is GONE!!! COME WATCH OUR SHOW!!" but 4a proved she could be likeable if handled properly.
Also Nick's death was shock factor and no one can convince me otherwise. We didn't see ANYONE mourn him, his death did nothing imo

Just caught up with this and IMO, S4 was better than the main TWD has been for years (though I have been enjoying the recent series of that too, to be fair). I mean yes they basically killed off the entire cast and rebooted the show as a Morgan spin-off that happens to also have Alicia and Strand in it... but I'm still here for it. He's a better lead than Madison, and he's had more character development in one season of this than he got in several TWD seasons..

When did they air S1? If it wasn't recent then I'd guess not, as we're coming up on season 5 now.
They took the rights to show it last year it was shown just before season 9 of the walking dead started so hopefully they will show the rest of the seasons soon
so since I finally decided to catch up on FTWD:
4B thoughts:
I didn't remember June ever being with the Vultures, nor do I remember John's leg ever being injured, so I was confused for the entire setup of this half of the season. I also hated Charlie in 4A (probably because she killed Nick, but I wasn't too big on Nick anyway) but I really grown to like her in 4B! A very unique take on a 'villain turned hero', and a human one at that.
I love and love Alicia more and more by the day. While I wish Madison was still around, and was around for many more seasons to come, I think Alicia would've had have been the last one standing eventually (and I'm glad she is! I also hope that Madison's still alive... but wishful thinking)
Well done to FTWD for killing off two of the show's biggest characters and bringing it Wendell and Sarah - both interesting and welcome additions to the cast, IMO
I don't remember being too fond of Althea in 4A but I ADORE her in 4b? Dunno what made me like her more but I'm loving her :clap1:
That part where the group comes back for Morgan... it reminds me of something, but I love it
Martha was good! We've not had a solo antagonist for... since ever, I think? Sure she wasn't too threatening but do 'bad' people need to be? I like that she was very human and hurting, and wasn't truly bad. That said, I'm glad she's dead and not redeemed
Overall, I found it definitely enjoyable. I was gonna have it on as background noise so I'd have an idea of events going into the important Season 5, but I found myself invested and watching it with full attention. I'm becoming more open to Morgan's inclusion, too; I was of the belief he should've gotten his own spin-off, but he just works in FTWD
S5 (first 3 eps)
Firstly, where the **** did they find a plane :laugh2:
Secondly, the idea of radioactive walkers is so novel and something they can't really ever revisit, so I'm hoping we see more of them. I'd like to see the damage they could cause
Thirdly, those kids are annoying
Fourthly, how do they have such a surplus of supplies
Fifthly, Dwight's return is nice if not farfetched. Definitely looking forward to seeing him in the group
And finally... the crossover with TWD (no, not Dwight). I really like how the helicopter group is such a big thing and mystery, I hope they don't disappoint. I'm kinda hoping they're the catalyst to FTWD and TWD potentially merging (but given the massive timegap between the shows chronologically, I will always be wondering, "would Alicia's group become part of the helicopter group and defect six years down the line? Why? Would the helicopters still have fuel in six months time?". The crossover will amost definitely not happen but I wonder when and how they could end FTWD
All in all I'm liking FTWD again. Although, the showrunners said they almost made the group into a Saviors-esque group by S3's end. I'll always be curious as to how that'd have worked, since the group has become the opposite
