I'm a mixture of yes and no. I think thoughts and feelings can trigger dreams though with dreams they cannot necessarily identify problems in your life or predict the future.

No, I don't think so, I usually have the weirdest dreams just randomly based on whatever I was thinking about/happened that evening. I don't think they mean a thing.

Dreams, which last but a few seconds (but seem longer) occur just as you are waking up and as your brain is flickering into life. Usually things that you have sensed, seen or heard but not thought about in depth can trigger the brain to rethink and categorise them (ie you can usually pinpoint how you came to dream about said subject). Also they can reflect anxiety (like the teeth falling out dream).

But there is no magic or premonition aspect, that is fairy stories

It's just what you're thinking about during that day that can trigger a dream in a more Fantasy style.
