Can't wait for BB16.

I really have a good feeling about this series. Let's hope it's not as terrible as Power Trip.

Hope they promote the series well too.

They seem to have a lot of trouble with the roof. They should pull the entire set down and rebuild or find a new location :flutter:

Oh, the buildings looks a bit run down, our first floor ceiling at our house fell down a month after moving in due to water, couldn't get to half the bedrooms in the house

It is very old and needs completely rebuilding.

Yeah the photos which were uploaded a week ago showed that, especially the BOTS building.

As far as I'm aware, they always have problems with the roof every year.
BB7 did too.

Demolish the ****er and start again.

It's like a run down box now.

You'd think when they renew a programme for several years they'd invest a bit of money in renovating the set.

The house has been in a right state for a good few years.

For people saying rebulid the house its not that easy.

1) They would need planning permission which could take ages to gain

2) They would either have to build on a new location or take the show of air as it wouldnt be possible to do it all in the short few months they have

Marsh.
08-04-2015, 10:42 PM
No one said it would be easy but after 13 years in the same spot, a refurb/update is required every now and then.

But Elstree is BB

..what
they move from elstree to another studio and build a new studio whilst the housemates of the series during construction stay in the elstree one..

Or put housemates in temp house while elstree is getting rebuilt?

No, that'd be going from normal size to small just for construction, its mch better to keep the elstree house and move away from it to build a new house so they can continue as normal until the new house is built.

and I don't get the 'Planning permission takes AAAAAGES!' argument. That isnt true for studio sets, as, well, it's on a studio, not plonked in the middle of an estate in essex :umm2:

Big Brother requires planning permission every time they make changes to the house. You can check the Borehamwood council website - they have the C4 Big Brother planning applications on there.

Channel 5 need to apply every time they want to make changes, and they are applied for over a year in advance to the actual work beginning. The planning does take forever, which is why you end up with the same layout etc. for two years.

Yes, the Big Brother move had been in discussion since Big Brother started as they knew the site was temporary, which is why they were looking for a new site well before Big Brother 2 started.. as said in the Big Brother 2 book. They started work at Elstree in 2001 ready for 2002's series.

Early 2001 work began ready for Mid-2002.. a year and a bit is a long time for stuff like this.

considering they already have a place to stay during construction it's really not.. it's still realistic and plausible.

On-season really can't come soon enough if this is the sort of stuff people argue about in the BB forum for the rest of the year.

They have to consider things years in advance which is the point I'm making. For example, the changes to the House for Big Brother 2014 would have to be considered back in 2012 ready to be changed.

And no, I'm not arguing  I'm just giving my side to Tom.

The idea of a new house is nice and all, but in all fairness, after a few months you'll get used to it anyway and the novelty will wear off, just like the annual house re-decoration.

The cost wouldn't outweigh, or even equal, the benefit I wouldn't think.

True.
But with 3 series of BB per year, having 6 six series with the same layout gets really boring.

The thought of the fact that CBB12 (2013) had the same house layout as CBB15 (2015) is quiet shocking.

Marsh.

Well they're on air until 2018 now so a bit of forward planning for those years isn't too much to ask. :idc: Instead of being lazy.

If it carries on with a change every two years.
Then were scheduled to have one more layout change after this current new one for 2015 and 2016.
Which will take us to a new layout for 2017 and 2018, which fits perfectly with the rights.

Jason.
09-04-2015, 12:18 AM
Just out of curiosity, did Channel 4 have the same problem?
They changed annually the house, and sometimes even the exterior too.
For example, compare the BB5 constructions to BB6 per se.

If they didn't then I can see why Channel 5 are slow with it. But if they did, then C5 are being really lazy, as C4 put effort every year into having some changes at least.

Anyway, it is what it is.

Why build a new house when there not sure if they will renew in 2018?

Will.
09-04-2015, 10:11 AM
Planning permission does take forever like Jarrod said, it was like 2 months to get permission to turn a garage door into a brick wall with a window in it as my mum was looking to turn the garage into the kitchen and a study, so she didn't do it. That's was a minor thing though, it must take forever long time for BB as they are doing far bigger things in terms of construction.

Marsh.

Because we still have 4 years worth of BB to go before then?

Jamesy
09-04-2015, 06:35 PM
Yeah even if the second floor we hope for never happens (I remain skeptical), at least the house will have a new design. I hope we see something very different though and it's unrecognizable from the last 2 years.

I hope we never get a second floor; its pointless. The house should small and cramped; opening up more floor space is pointless.

Im kind of curious for what they use the second floor for. Hope it isn't just a second lounge.

I have no insider knowledge, but I can assure you all that there will be no second floor; thankfully.

Plus, if they do add a second floor they won't be able to call the Big Brother house the "most famous bungalow in Britain"

ruiphillips
11-04-2015, 10:35 PM
Not the whole "their building a second floor" Bs returning yet again.

I hope they radically change the layout this time.
