Big Brother: 1984
Big Brother has been on air since 2000, and the series has never themed itself directly around its origins. Big Brother originated from George Orwell's novel, 1984 - and this project will take the format in a different direction.

With the new project, comes a new house. If you followed my most recent project, I designed a new compound for the House and I will be using the same basic shape for this project, but with a completely new layout and design.

The eye isn't spectacular, it was knocked together in 5 minutes because this project will be more focused on the format and the house. There will be studios to go along with this, and format explanations.

I came up with an idea like this for BB15, last year. The theme was Orwellian.
I like the concept.

(Copied and pasted from the thread)
The theme for BB15 could be Orwellian:

- Once someone is gone, they are considered to have never existed. Therefore, following an eviction, all traces of the housemate are removed (their entire bed, any writing they did on the walls etc.). In the DR, BB denies any knowledge of them.

- Extend this even to the shows title credits. Have BB1 style writing on them (like "38 cameras, 12 people, 1 house, 1 winner") where the number of people is the number left in the house at the time of that show. Have the title sequence change to show highlights in the house so far in the background, but with NO evicted HMs of course!

- Evictions are done in secret , so no-one knows when anyone will just disappear! The diary room would work at first, but after the remaining HMs twig what's going on, it may take some imagination (eg quickly snatching them while alone in the bedroom/garden!)

- The plasma screens are labelled "Telescreen" (and cannot be switched off )

Jarrod, Im very excited to see what this project is going to be like! The eye is really good, It'd be much nicer without the pupil in my opinion.

Big Brother's Bit on the Side returns with Big Brother, but this time is slightly altered to become a more professional looking show. Rylan Clark is now joined by Laura Whitmore to present the show.

Presenting Rota:
Monday: Laura and Rylan
Tuesday: Rylan
Wednesday: Rylan
Thursday: Laura
Friday: Laura and Rylan
Saturday: Laura

Format:
Bit on the Side will follow a strict new format to make the show more appealing and professional to others. The audience has been removed off camera and is now behind the camera, removing the audience participation from all of the debates. There will be more look behind the scenes at Big Brother, more expert analysis and more interviews with ex-Housemates and family.

Studio:
The Bit on the Side studio has been completely revamped. There is now two floors which allow Rylan and Laura to present from different areas. There is a eye entrance door for guests with a small staircase to enter, and a news area on the balcony. There is also a LED screen above the eye that displays writing.

The downstairs features a interview area and a panel for guests on the show. The panel will be removed when it isn't needed. The audience will sit behind the camera.

Love the BOTS set. Very good looking, and the audience behind the camera is a great idea too. The behind the scenes mention is a neat idea too, shame that doesn't actually happen on the show, since there are a lot of BTS elements that could be shown in VTs.

Big Brother: Unlocked is a new weekly show hosted by Emma Willis. The show will air on Sunday evenings at 10pm after the main highlights show. Big Brother: Unlocked looks at the latest news from the House, but it goes much more in-depth with psychological analysis and expert opinions on the Housemates.

One of the key parts of Big Brother: Unlocked will be the live nominations reveal on who will face eviction from the Big Brother House. The nominations reveal will then be discussed in detail with the experts.

Studio:
Big Brother: Unlocked will use the BOTS studio with colour changes. The panel will be removed and the space used for Emma to present.

I mentioned that this project would have a large focus on the format of Big Brother and incorporate more elements from Orwell's 1984.

Overview
Big Brother will invite the Housemates into his brand new luxuriously designed House, where they will instantly be fooled into the plush surroundings, unknowingly entering the land of dystopia. 14 Housemates will enter the Big Brother House for 11 weeks, competing to become the winner and the last remaining Housemate, bagging the £150,000 prize. They will live in confinement with no contact to the outside world. The Housemates will take part in weekly shopping tasks, and a revised nominations/eviction process.

The Theme
In dedication to the original idea of Big Brother, the new series will be subtitled Big Brother: 1984. Big Brother: 1984 will take ideas from George Orwell's original novel 1984 and make them fit for Big Brother's new regime. The Big Brother House has been designed to fool the Housemates into total comfort, while the biggest twists, turns and shocks lie just behind a few doors.

Weekly Tasks
The weekly shopping task will take place on Monday and Tuesday. Housemates have the chance to win a luxury shopping budget of £500 for the week - if they pass the task. If they fail the task, they will have just £100. All Housemates will take part, or face punishment.

Nominations:
The Housemates will be required to nominate every Sunday in the Diary Room. They will nominate two Housemates giving full and honest reasons for their nominations. Following the nominations, Big Brother will reveal who is facing eviction and will also reveal reasons why the Housemate is nominated.

On the screen board near the kitchen, each Housemate will be given a screen and the people they nominated displayed on their screen. The reasons will not be linked to the Housemates. The Housemates are not permitted to discuss who may have nominated them or why, merely look at the reasons.

Eviction:
Housemates will face Friday Evictions, however this time they will be done a little differently.

The Housemate will be evicted on Friday nights, but the other Housemates will be unaware of their eviction until it has taken place. Big Brother will evict the Housemate through the means of the Eviction Room. The Eviction Room is a new area of the House where all Housemates will gather on Friday. The result will be announced to the group who will all be in a separate pods. The pods will be soundproof and the Housemates will not be able to see who has been evicted. The Evicted Housemate will leave without being able to say goodbye.

Once the Housemate has left the house, all trace of that Housemate will be removed from the others. Their picture removed from their lightbox, their bed will be removed, their belongings all gone and any trace of them removed. The Housemates will not discover who was evicted until they leave the eviction room and realize who has gone from the nominated Housemates.

The Nomination Area
To make the regime even harder, Big Brother will not be letting the nominated Housemates have an easy time. Once the Housemates have nominated, the four Housemates with the most nominations will be forced to live in the nominations area. This is a single area in the House with stretcher beds, one sofa and sleeping bags. They are not permitted to use the main bedroom.

Their food will be delivered to them via the store room, and they will be unable to eat anything from the shopping list. They will be unable to use the main bathroom, and will instead be told to use the outside facilities that Big Brother has installed for them.

This will be explained further when the House is revealed

There is more to come but this is the basic idea.

Morgan.

It's a great concept (the nominations/evictions bit) but I'm not really sure how well it'd work in reality - to me it might seem a bit like the theme's overpowering the show itself, what with the whole removing traces of evicted housemates part etc. If that makes any sense at all.

But the idea and this project in general are really original. Looking forward to what's to come.

I understand that completely. Obviously if this were to be a real series plan, I doubt they would use all of the ideas. It would overpower it, but it wouldn't happen outside the House. It would all obviously be to mess with the Housemates' minds and remind them that Big Brother is the one in control.

I'll upload a house plan later on.

House Layout
The Big Brother House has been redesigned ahead of the Orwell themed series that the Housemates will face. As previously stated, the Housemates will be fooled into false luxury. The Big Brother House has two floors this year.

On the first floor is the entrance corridor, the bedroom, the bathroom and a seating area on the balcony. On the ground floor is the rest of the House.

Big Brother House: Exterior Stage

As I'm using the same House template as my last House, I have decided to keep the exterior similar. The iconic eye stage remains in place with the large catwalk leading down to an eye shaped podium. The main change this time is that the stairs have returned instead of the ground entrance in my last House. Obviously, it has all been themed around the new orange eye.

There is again an outside interview area with screens and a sofa, but this area can also be used for extra presenting space.

Big Brother House: The Sofa Area

Without revealing too much of the House, and what Big Brother has in store, the next reveal is the sofa area. This is the first piece of the House the Housemates will see as they walk down the stairs. The sofas are underneath the balcony and are made to be comfy and welcoming. There is a memory wall for the Housemates faces, as well as the plasma screen.

The sofas are scattered with different pillows and are placed with a spotty rug and some tables. As Housemates take a seat and wait for the others, what secrets will be revealed in the rest of the House?

Big Brother House: Dining Table
The next part of the House to reveal is the dining table, plus a overall view of the living area, but from a particular angle.

The dining table is black and orange this year, which matches the kitchen theme quite well. The main dining table has enough space for 12 Housemates - but there won't always be 12 Housemates sitting at the table. More will be revealed when the Nominations areas are revealed.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_DININGTABLE_1.jpg

The main living area of the House on a whole is one of the biggest areas ever in Big Brother. There is a large bird cage chandelier hanging from the roof, and there is a main balcony area which will be looked at in further detail soon. The entrances to the bedroom and bathroom are up on the balcony. What is Big Brother hiding downstairs behind the shuttered glass wall however?

I like the idea of the housemates not knowing who has been evicted, however, I think this could be done in a more simple way. Keep the seperate eviction room but only put the nominees in there with Emma speaking into that room only, meanwhile the rest of the housemates wait in the main house

The Big Brother House has a modern kitchen, but it is small. The store room is next to it, through the black door. The kitchen itself is equipped with all the modern appliances that are needed. There are two ovens, a microwave installed into the cupboards, a hob and sink and a breakfast bar.

Sexy house.

This whole project should be pitched to Channel 5. But knowing them, they'll probably butcher it, and make it full of constant dead twists and negativity, like they did with Power Trip.

If they did something like this, and executed it well, I can see a bump in ratings.
Brilliant job Jarrod. Looking forwards to more.

Big Brother House: Balcony
This year, the main balcony is a place where Housemates can escape too and relax after stressful situations such as nominations or tasks. The balcony is designed to be modern and minimalist. The walls are covered in a twig like wallpaper and light up trees, to add to the theme. The trees can change colour. The balcony is also the area where Housemates can access the main bedroom and bathroom.

Big Brother House: Bedroom
The Bedroom of the House is a square room that is accessed upstairs via the second door along on the balcony. The bedroom has been designed to be a modern and slick area as well as a small space. The bedroom has five double beds, enough beds for 10 Housemates to sleep, as explained in the twist which I'll post soon.

The walls are white with colour changing pillars which can change depending on the mood. Housemates can store their belongings in the under-bed containers and draws as well as having two shelves for personal belongings at the bottom of their beds. They also have a side table with a lamp and draw for belongings. As the bathroom is right next door, this bedroom has no toilet.

Big Brother House: Bathroom
The Bathroom is accessed via the first door on the balcony. As the nominated Housemates have their own washing facilities, the bathroom will only be for the main Housemates who do not face eviction.

The Bathroom is an incredibly small space, with two large sink areas and mirrors. The sink mirrors are screens and Big Brother can use these to play tricks on the Housemates. One sink in particular will be playing with the Housemates.

This mirror is Big Brother's "Mirror On The Wall" - This Mirror has the power to talk and show things to the Housemates. This mirror will set Housemates secret missions to win treats and luxury items in the House.

Elsewhere, the bathroom is a warming area with all the modern appliances the Housemates need. The lighting in the walls can change colour.

Thank you! The reason for the big area is because the twist that will be revealed soon needs the space. Once the twist is in place, it halves the space that the Housemates have.

Big Brother House: The Garden
This is the final area of the House to reveal before the series twist can be posted. The Big Brother Garden is one of the most open we've had on Big Brother.

The Garden itself is a large area, with enough space for tasks to take place outside in good weather. There is a undercover seating area over on one side of the garden, where Housemates can sit and chat, and smoke if they want too. Aside from that, the garden is pretty much empty with the stone and wood theme carrying on throughout. On the other side of the garden is the plunge pool which is also under cover this year. There is a chandelier and some chairs for the Housemates to sit while the other swim. There are also washing facilities for the nominated Housemates..

Big Brother: 1984 - The Series Twist
Big Brother: 1984 will be taking the idea of Orwell's novel seriously. The Housemates will find themselves split up into two social classes throughout their stay in the House, something that will become evident from the first night in the House.

Thursday - Day 1: Launch Night
On launch night, the first 7 Housemates will enter the House. They would have been randomly selected by Big Brother to enter the House. The House will be luxurious pad they were expecting with no obvious signs of a twist. They will spend the evening getting to know each other and celebrating their arrival in the House. The final seven Housemates will then enter a secret room in the House, where they will be able to see the other Housemates living in the House, and judge their movements. They will become the lower-class of the House. The Housemates in the main house will be the upper class.

Friday - Day 2: Launch 2 and Twist
On Day 2, as the Housemates in the main House wake up, they will notice that Big Brother has installed the divide. The final seven Housemates will then enter the main House, bringing the total of Housemates to 14 - this is where the twist of the series begins. The Upper Class will be forced to nominate four Housemates from the lower class for eviction on Friday evening. They will watch the new Housemates' VT's and will then decide who to nominate. Once four Housemates have been nominated for eviction, the Housemates will enter the main House. The four nominated Housemates will have to move into Big Brother's Nominations House - a small area in the main living room where they will live, eat and sleep.

The Nominations Area has a balcony which acts as a bedroom for the nominees, a small sitting area and a dining table. Outside, their shower and washing facilities are present. The nominees therefore become the lower class Housemates. They will not be permitted to enter the main house unless calling for Big Brother in the Diary Room or entering the eviction room.

Friday - Day 9: Eviction #1
Housemates will face the first eviction of the series under the new regime. Housemates will all be called to the eviction room and placed in their individual boxes. The boxes are soundproof. As Emma makes the announcement, the first part of the speech will be played to all Housemates. Only the evictee will hear if they have been evicted or not. They will then leave the eviction room and leave the House without saying goodbye.
As there are only 10 beds, the nominees will remain in the nominations area, but will be permitted to move about the main House throughout Friday evening and Saturday.

Sunday - Day 11: Nominations #1
At 9am, the Housemates will be gathered on the sofas to make their first round of nominations. One by one, the Housemates will nominate. Once the Housemates have nominated the four Housemates with the most votes will be revealed and they will be given 20 minutes to gather their belongings and move into the nominations area which will be locked as soon as they have entered.

Day 32: Live Entrance
Following the fourth eviction on Day 30, there would only be 10 Housemates in the House, meaning enough space for all Housemates in the House to live in the main area. Big Brother will therefore send in four new Housemates. These Housemates will automatically become the lower class and face eviction from the House, as the public decide which three Housemates get to stay in the House.

Once the Housemate is evicted, 13 will remain and the system remains in place. The system will be removed once there are only 6 Housemates in the House.

This is really good, especially the launch night twist but my only problem would be having four housemates face eviction each week

Wow! Loving it :D

The eviction boxes is an interesting idea, what about the housemates in the main house? Will they watch the eviction from the living area?

Thank you! I know four is a lot, but it wouldn't have worked with just two really.

All Housemates will go into the room, there are boxes for every Housemate. Nobody will see the evictee.

Oh yeah, I suppose with the divide it wouldn't work with only 2 housemates living on there own. A task which saves 1 or 2 of the nominees on Tues/Wed could maybe work. Still a good idea though

Its great, id prefer if you made a small bedroom for the Nominated housemates, as setting up tasks would be impossible with people sleeping in the main living area

Celebrity Big Brother
Celebrity Big Brother returns to its usual January slot, and will run for five weeks between January and February 2017. As usual, the House has been given a celebrity makeover, while keeping original aspects of the house. The tough regime has been removed, but some unlucky celebrities will still find themselves sleeping on the balcony. Their beds however have been made a little more comforting.

CBB House - The Stairs
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_STAIRS.jpg
The Celebrity Housemates will be entering a world of luxury as they enter the House and walk down the infamous Big Brother stairs. They will curve down into the living area, where spots of red carpet have been placed to welcome our stars into their new home. The bedroom and bathroom remain upstairs.

Sofa Area
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_SOFAS.jpg
The Sofas have been given a slight makeover ahead of the celebrity entrances. The walls have been replaced with a grey stone this time, and the plants around changed into red. The sofas are much darker this time around with a slate colour. The spotted rug and coffee tables remain from the summer.

Poor Balcony
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_NOMSAREAS.jpg
The second balcony remains with four beds, which have been made more comfy for the unfortunate celebrities that will find themselves up there. However, there is now a small seating area underneath the balcony and a sofa area.

Kitchen
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_KITCHEN_1.jpg
A lighter theme has taken over the kitchen, which now has a light brick theme. The light up areas from the summer remain, as does the eviction room. The wood used for the kitchen is now grey.

The Bedroom has been given a celebrity makeover, with lots of red. The carpet is now red, with the beds being replaced with more red!

Bathroom
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_BATHROOM_1.jpg
The bathroom remains unchanged from the summer, apart from the shower which will have glass that mists up as the door closes.

Gym Balcony
http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_GYM_1.jpg
The balcony for the celebrities will become their gym. There are two treadmills, two bikes and some weights for the celebrities to lift.

Garden

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/CBB_GARDEN_1.jpg
The Garden sees the most changes, as the pool has been completely removed. The outside seating area undercover remains for the celebrities and Big Brother has also installed a bench for them to sit on in the open.

Big Brother House: The Diary Room
The Diary Room this year has been moved back under the stairs, and is made up of lots of cubes. The cubes all light up and flicker. When the Diary Room door bell is pressed, the lights will change to red, before changing to green once the Diary Room is open. The door is camouflaged into the wall and the cubes.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/jarroddaniel1/BB_DIARYROOM_2.jpg

Inside the Diary Room, the chair is a large grey padded chair surrounded by two large screens which show a twisting red triangle background, and the orange pupil from the eye. There are plants, and two large lights.

The BOTS studio would actually make quite a good front of the house, though replace the doors in the eye with the opening eye as used now.

Absolutely love this house design. A jungle house would be good with lots of leafy foliage in the interior.
I also think combining all the ideas from BB 1-16 houses would be good.
Are you working on a new one.
