It's scary to think that this happens so close to home.
I can't imagine anyone leavinn their jacket in the club if they were going to meet someone. I think the guy seems dodgy but apparently police say he isn't a suspect :conf2:

I would never go off without telling friends where i'm going and who i'm going with (but having met hubby when 15 i never went off with anyone!), but then also i have walked home at silly times in the morning and in my experience there's generally no-one around, and i come from quite a busy little town.

The last sighting was her leaving the Club, if she did leave his home and start walking in some direction, she should have been picked up at some stage I would have thought, the spiking theory is plausible as what she did was out of character, poor girl I can't see this ending well.

Or she could have been drunk and horny (urg hate that word), met a guy, fancied him, left in a rush, went to his, sobered up a bit at 4am and realised that it was not where she wanted to be and left. It doesn't explain why she didn't tell her friends but people do irrational and out of character things when drunk. It also doesn't explain where she is now which is the worrying part but the Police can't just concentrate on him as he could well be an innocent party in all this who shouldn't have let a female leave his house alone at that time in the morning but doesn't mean he has done anything really untoward and the Police must be satisfied with his story at this stage.

Yeah I get that she could have been drunk and horny, it just seems a weird way to leave with someone, possible of course but it seems strange, I mean you'd have to be really really drunk imo to tell your friends you were going to the toilet and just disappear with a stranger instead but of course it's possible. Walking alone at night at 4 am is not a good idea. Why not call a cab or someone to pick her up? :conf:
..thing is, if she was that drunk/her drink spiked...would she have even been in a state to inform her friends that she was going to the loo...
..the police are looking for someone in a car seen in that area and through the nights for several days I think though...

I hope they get who ever did this
Police investigating the disappearance of student Karen Buckley in Glasgow are searching a park where her handbag was found.
Police divers, a helicopter crew and search dogs have been deployed to Dawsholm Park, which is bordered on one side by the River Kelvin.
The 24-year-old vanished in the early hours of Sunday after spending Saturday night with friends at Glasgow's Sanctuary nightclub on Dumbarton Road.
She told them at around 1am she was going to the toilet, but failed to return and left her jacket behind.
CCTV spotted her leaving the club with 21-year-old Alexander Pacteau, who then drove her to his flat.
Mr Pacteau is not a suspect, but communal areas outside his flat in Dorchester Avenue have been taped off while officers look for clues.
He told officers she left at 4am. It is believed she was planning to walk back to her flat four miles away in Hill Street.

Forensic officers carrying boxes and black bags have left a property in Dorchester Avenue, the street at the centre of the search for the missing Irish student.
The hunt for Karen Buckley is focusing on Dawsholm Park in the north-west of Glasgow and a nearby flat in Dorchester Avenue where the 24-year-old was last seen.
Two officers in forensic suits entered the flat and are searching an area to the rear which has been cordoned off. Members of the search team were pictured carrying spades.

Which is point 1 of 3 why I don't believe the assertion of her friends that she "wasn't drunk" - one, she pulled a total minger; two, she left her coat in the club; three, she presumably woke up at 4am still pissed, didn't recognise where she was and adamantly walked out of his flat not waiting around for a cab or whatever.

Police investigating the disappearance of an Irish student in Glasgow have detained a 21 year-old man, BBC Scotland understands.
Karen Buckley, 24, from Cork, was last seen leaving the Sanctuary nightclub with a man in the early hours of Sunday.
Police Scotland confirmed officers are following a "definite line of inquiry".
High Craigton Farm near Milngavie has also been cordoned off as part of the investigation.
Officers have been searching Dawsholm Park, where Miss Buckley's bag was discovered on Tuesday.
Miss Buckley arrived at the Sanctuary nightclub with friends at about 23:45 on Saturday and at about 01:00 she told them she was going to the toilet. She failed to return and did not take her jacket.
Her friends have said Miss Buckley had had a few drinks, but was not drunk.

Human remains have been found on a farm north of Glasgow by officers searching for missing student Karen Buckley.
Formal identification has yet to take place but police believe they may be those of the missing 24-year-old.
Her relatives have been informed of the discovery on the outskirts of Milngavie.
Ms Buckley was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning after a night out in Glasgow.
A 21-year-old man, believed to be Alexander Pacteau, was earlier detained by officers and police said they were "following a definite line of enquiry".
The student, from Cork in Ireland, vanished in the early hours of Sunday after spending the night with friends at Glasgow's Sanctuary nightclub on Dumbarton Road.
She told them at around 1am she was going to the toilet, but failed to return and left her jacket behind.
CCTV spotted the 24-year-old leaving the club with Mr Pacteau, who then drove her to his flat two miles away in Dorchester Avenue.
He told officers Ms Buckley left at 4am after they had had consensual sex.
Ms Buckley, who began an occupational therapy degree at Glasgow Caledonian University in February, and was previously a nurse at the Princess Alexandria hospital in Harlow, Essex, has not been seen since.
Her parents flew from their home in Cork to help with the search.
Dozens of officers have been searching a remote country lane between Glasgow and Drymen. The road to a farm there - High Craigton Farm - has been cordoned off.
A helicopter was seen circling over woodland and police on scrambler bikes have been searching the area.
Officers have also been asking residents whether they had seen any bonfires there over the past few days.
Police previously asked for information about a grey car spotted in the area between 11am and 3pm on Monday

Wonder if he was really thinking straight, his movements would have been captured on numerous CCTv cameras and his story to police about her leaving at 4am could also be checked by CCTv.
He probably thought he could concoct a story about her leaving and hope that would satisfy everyone.
Sad reality is she probably never left his flat alive, more likely hidden in something and driven off to a remote location for disposal with the bag planted miles away from his flat to give the impression she did in fact leave.
But as I said his car would have been picked up by said cameras and tracked to wherever. He will probably end up making a full confession saying it was accidental death or self defence or some other reason, but then he panicked.
None of this will work and a murder conviction will probably result.

Alexander Pacteau (21) charged with murder of Karen Buckley
Accused made no plea at the Glasgow court and was remanded in custody
Alexander Pacteau (21) has been charged with the murder of Irish student Karen Buckley and attempting to defeat the ends of justice at a court in Glasgow today.
Mr Pacteau made no plea or declaration at court and was remanded in custody following the private hearing.
He will appear in court next week for a full committal hearing.
Scotland police confirmed a body found on High Craigton Farm outside the city this week was that of the missing Cork nurse.
A major police search was launched when Ms Buckley (24), vanished after a night out in Glasgow last weekend.
The Crown Office in Glasgow has confirmed on Friday it had received a report from the police into the death of Ms Buckley.
Under Scottish law, police send a report to the Procurator Fiscal – the Scottish equivalent of the Director of Public Prosecution – and the Procurator Fiscal then decides on whether to bring charges against the person.
A spokesman for the Crown Office issued a statement in relation to the case, which saw a 21-year-old man arrested on Thursday morning by police investigating Ms Buckley’s disappearance and death.

I hope the autopsy will shed the light to this case. At the moment it's a mystery. We have no idea what happened. :(
I'm absolutely heartbroken for this girl and her loved ones. The club is round the corner from my flat - and last night I went up to Loch Lomond and we unintentionally drove past the farm where the police found her body, saw it all cordoned off and flowers laid down on the grass... properly burst into tears, just makes me so sad that the poor girl had only been here for a couple of months, probably went to the toilet and maybe went to the smoking area outside on Dumbarton Road for fresh air/a cigarette, got approached by this guy and for whatever reason decided to go off with him and that was it...
If Alexander Pacteau did kill her, I hope they send him down for life and he never sees freedom again. What a wicked thing to do.

It's a pretty well known police tactic to trick the perpetrator into thinking they're totally off the mark so they incriminate themselves. Probably just said he wasn't a suspect because they wanted to investigate him more thoroughly as they didn't have enough evidence to arrest him despite being sure he was guilty; stop him from doing a runner.
