This is so uncelebrated that I didnt even know it was St Georges day :S
We seem to focus more on Paddys day as its an excuse to get pissed
Yeah most the country probably won't even realise it's today, we English aren't great fans of overstated displays of patriotism
How do the English celebrate this day? :amazed:
Depends on the person really.
Me personally, I wake up in the morning, knock one off on my St. George's flag and roll around it. Then I go downstairs and make a full English breakfast and knock one off over that too (don't worry I don't eat it).
Then I watch my DVD highlights of England constantly being cheated out of the World Cup because we never get beaten honestly followed by an evening karaoke rendition of World in motion and God save the Queen then it's off to bed to dream about the ending to braveheart.
Love this day. :cheer2:
Niamh.

No day off if only one of the parties had making St George's Day a bank holiday in their manifesto, it would be a huge vote winner, it's the little things that win elections.
No day off if only one of the parties had making St George's Day a bank holiday in their manifesto, it would be a huge vote winner, it's the little things that win elections.
I think UKIP do

My Facebook feed is full of pictures of Nigel Farage with a pint and an English flag in his hands and people saying he pledges to make it a national holiday so I guess UKIP already cottoned on

It would be a good thing, it would stop people whinging and whining about St Patricks Days parades in England, though what they fail to grasp is that the parades are held the weekend before so what is to stop the English doing the same :idc: apathy!

People bringing their kids to the Parades or even kids being in the Parades with their schools or things they're joined is a big thing here (besides those who just go and get pissed)

It used to be celebrated more when I was younger. OK it was with morris/maypole dancing etc. At least it was celebrated though.
Anyway its also William Shakespeares birthday, and we have marked this at work by members of staff dressing up in Elizabethan costume (The legs on some of the men here has to be seen to be believed!), and have been spouting some of the well known quotes. I guess I should point out that I work in the English Department of Large university!
