I really want a BBUK with older housemates...we had Pauline in the previous civilian series but I wouldn't call her old.

I always find the older female housemates create so much entertainment. I was just watching an Australian Big Brother and the other housemates told her that another housemate climbed up a tree and jumped over a wall and she said she was going after him and the poor lady was going up the tree... :hehe:

Who are your favourite older housemates and would you prefer to have like 4 older housemates in the mix of say 14 housemates?

Think it would be interesting but not sure Channel 5 would do it

See I think this is one of the reasons why the celeb series are doing so well - because they've got such a mixture of ages. This is why I liked Jackie Travers - annoying as she was, at least she was an interesting addition to the house who created a new dynamic we haven't see in literally years.

The thing is the viewers these days are very cynical and pretty much have this perception that any old housemate will turn into a "Carole", from BB8.
Jackie, and Pauline - BB14 & BB15 are fantastic examples of this.

So when they show a nasty side, or do something that the public don't agree with, they are given a much harder time for it, and end up being evicted early, when realistically they are nothing like Carole, from BB8, who was just a fun-sucking twat.

Since BB8, the public have been doubtful about old housemates, and they end up leaving early.

People always say they should have more older housemates, but they never last long.

I think older housemates work much better for Celebrity Big Brother, rather than Big Brother.

In response to the person who said Pauline wasn't old. What do you consider older housemates?

In my opinion, over 40 is an older housemate.
I'll be honest, I don't want to see a pensioner in there, who's over 60.

A couple of over fourty housemates will do and maybe one or two fifty-somethings, for a much age-diverse cast.

Only older housemate I liked was Derek most the others were pretty terrible hence why we haven't had that many

We need Lesley Brain.

Older housemates always seem to be popular on launch night then it all goes wrong from there...

I wouldn't mind Housemates going upto 50, I wouldn't want them going past that preferably as they could end up like that Ken guy from CBB in the Ch4 days.

I'd actually love to see a series with more people over 40.

Derek, Lisa (BB9), Belinda, Leslie, Ahmed, Mario

TV channels aim to get younger audiences though and I'm not sure if your idea would work in that sense.

In terms of quality though I think it would be more enjoyable than BB12 and BB15 which lived off too many younger Housemates for the most part.

They pander to the demographic so heavy with 20 somethings. Problem is that such HMs only have opinions on hair gel etc. They don't want intelligence - I saw a few oldies when I auditioned.

I think the main reason why its flopping on CH5 is because they fill the house with dumb youngsters god i miss the days of Carole (BB8) Lesley (BB8) and Belinda (BB9)

Older housemates. Not just one either. Less 'beauties' too, I want to see a diverse range of people. And just as important - the inclusion of Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish housemates would be nice on C5.

I'm fairly sure the average age of housemates is currently higher than a fair few Channel 4 series - I've a feeling it was for BB14 and BB15, at least.

I think a good mix of ages is ideal. Some late teens/twenties, some thirties, forties etc., Although I doubt this years BB will include older people as they seem intent on having as much sex as possible on the show and as a rule older people (excluding Lionel Blair) tend to keep their private lives private.

In civilian BB oldies are crap.

Me too I'm hoping for some normal ones though if there are any I would like a few maybe about three/four who are aged around 40-60. Older housemates I fell can go either way though they can be bores and sit around on the fence or they can be really bossy and outspoken

As someone else said, I'm not too worried about the ages, I just would love it to go back to basics and have normal people, with no agents who just want a summer of fun...

Agreed. They really balance out the house dynamic. There should be at least four 30+ people.
