View Full Version : Statue Of Liberty Evacuated [Bomb Threat]
New York (CNN)—A bomb threat that led to the evacuation of New York's iconic Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island on Friday was unfounded, according to a law enforcement official.
The NYPD bomb squad examined a locker thought to contain a suspicious package and found it was empty, the official said.
About 2 p.m. Friday, the locker that reportedly contained the suspicious package had been cleared by police.
Other lockers were being checked as a precautionary measure, the law enforcement source said.
Images posted on social media showed crowds of visitors walking on ramps to awaiting ferries.

God forbid this ever happens for real because the evil destruction of irreplaceable ancient artefacts at Mosul and the destruction of the ancient Assyrian archaeological site of Nimrud in Iraq, is heartbreaking enough.

I know what you mean, the destruction of these priceless artefacts is terrible, if anything happened to the Statue of Liberty I think it would finally push me over the edge...:joker::joker:

Yes, because the loss of the statue itself is the only concern, not the loss of any people inside of it. :umm2:

The security to get to the statue is pretty fierce, terrorists would have to be fairly resourceful
...it's hard to imagine how frightened people would be in that situation/how packed with people it would be/what would go through their mind etc, quite terrifying...
