Canisters of the gas cost as little as 50p. Users get a buzz that makes them feel relaxed and euphoric.

Been going on years.Nothing new.I've had teenagers ask me to go in shops and get em a can of gas or lighter fluid years ago.I'm sure we all tried some kind of slovent abuse as a kid,I know i did.

Solvent abuse didn't exist when I was a lad
We did however, ask older people to buy us beer from the off license :hehe:

Slovent?
I can honestly say I never did, and not even solvent abuse either.

What a ridiculous statement, I definitely didn't.
Solvent abuse can cause all kinds of problems and health issues, it's not just a passing phase like doing a bit of graffitti at the back of the bus or something. I've seen people affected by it when I was younger and going to school, just like in the story. Why are the parents of this generations SO LAZY? I don't understand..

And some morons want to lower the age for voting. Is it any wonder we are trapped in a game of political musical chairs with only 2 corrupt, inefficient, self-serving parties playing for the PM seat?

When I was at school sniffing gas from an aerosol was something a lot of people did. I did do it....didn't see the harm. Until one day one of the lads didn't come into school. He had been snuffing gas and died. ....One of the cool kids. That craze went quiet pretty quick after that.
This new craze though.....isn't it nitrous oxide which is what women have on labour?

Hey, just because, well, some of them have less braincells than others doesn't mean that it should ruin potentially voting earlier for the rest of us :nono:

Mate of mine was completely straight edge until he did a whip it a few years ago, started acting like the drug king and bragging about how he'd done a drug for weeks afterwards
There's my input

Solvent abuse does seem to go in fashions as such, tippex thinner, glue, lighter fuel, gas and now these.
You can't demonise all 'yoofs' for doing it or parents for not being able to stop their kid being affected by it.

Don't blame them tbh, the buzz I get off the gas and air the ambulance regularly have to give me for my ribs is absolutely amazing. Almost worth the pain..
My little brother was doing 'oxygen' at the last festival he went to
Also this really is not new. When I was at school people would do anything to get high (mind maybe not at 11, 13/14 ish). Some of my mates huffed nail varnish. I tried gas once myself and it did nothing but make my tooth really numb so I don't think I did it right

My point exactly. Most kids were trying to get wrecked on something at school back in my day(90's).I smoked weed from 13 until around 20 when it started making me feel like crap and i got zero enjoyment from it.

I think this is Nitrous Oxide N2O or Laughing gas, similar to what the dentist give you. It does have a very short acting euphoric effect.
Not as harmful as sniffing glue but still not something I would be happy for my children to do.

Yeah Tom - I will give you that. A lot of young people are mature, and just as intelligent and knowledgeable as any youth in any other era. The trouble is that most of them seem to be Tibb members judging by the mindless morons in our town and city centres every weekend, and the evidence of numerous reality documentaries and other media articles.
Be honest now Tom  A lot of UK 'Yoof' think an 'Election' is a Chinese Hard On.

Do you mean like pre-Election promises from the Tories and Labour?
11 is obviously too young to be doing stuff like this but laughing gas is pretty harmless and gives a very short-lasting effect, a lot of bars in Europe have will openly sell it with no issue. Seems to be quite a recent sensationalism around it with all this about it being a "deadly legal high" and "hippy crack"

Nobody's making money from it yet that's why, they'll brand it and then suddenly I'll be safe.

Cynical but perfectly true Kizzy. Nothing is more long term dangerous or potentially addictive than tobacco and alcohol, but these are legit because of the incredible revenues they bring in for our Chancellor.
