Those days are not gone, as all the countries HAVE NOT RATIFIED the legislation to allow the change in succession.

I was wrong about the road block being Australia, it is in fact Canada, where there is a legal challenge from Quebec (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perth_Agreement#Legal_challenges) about the ratification processes.

Therefore, this daughter is not the spare, that Kate is duty bound to produce, as the succession is still along the male line while that legal challenge remains undecided.
