Mother finds cruel note branding her 'fat and ugly' after parking in disabled bay at Tesco
Sarah Metcalfe suffers from neurological illness that causes chronic pain
She used disabled bay when shopping at Tesco Extra with 13-year-old son
But returned to find the offensive handwritten note on her windscreen
The 35-year-old is calling on the 'coward' behind the note to come forward
Without an official Blue Badge, Sarah Metcalfe was hesitant about parking in a disabled bay at her local supermarket.
However, she was in so much pain from a chronic condition that she felt she had little choice if she was to get round the shop with her son. (so she says...)
When she got back to the car a note was left on her window

Do you think this woman should either get a badge or park elsewhere and leave the bays for disabled people? And should she be driving with a child at all?

This woman was on 5 live this morning, the note is horrible if the person wanted to make a valid point they should have worded it differently. Apparently she has applied for a Blue Badge so under the law until she receives it she is not entitled to park in a disabled bay and she shouldn't IMO

"However, on the day in question she was in so much pain she decided to use her judgment and park in the bays because they did not specify that a Blue Badge was required.
She said: ‘I don’t like to claim benefits, I like to just try and get on with it, but the pain was so bad on this occasion that I was forced to used a disabled bay to limit the walk."
then go home love and order your shopping online

I dont think the note is right of course but I personally find people who park in disabled parking without a blue badge really infuriating. My Nana has Arthritis and sometimes she can barely walk to the toilet without crying and when you see abled bodied people parked up in disability spaces it proper pisses me off.
Sure she claims to have applied and I do feel sorry for her for being ill but her 'judgement' could have stopped somebody who has the NEED for the space in parking up. She's a selfish bitch quite frankly. Don't park there without a disability card, it doesnt have to specify you need a blue badge its called common knowledge and if she has applied to claim a disability badge and read the form it actually states you can't use them without a badge.
Niamh.

It could have been written by a disabled person or a family member of a disabled person. We could all think of reasons we should park in a disabled bay from backaches to Migraines but clearly we are not "disabled" and neither is she.
A bit nasty to write the comments on the note so both are at fault on this.

Its amazing its considered news worthy by a newspaper. If they had assaulted her or damaged her car or something, maybe there was a story, but people get called much worse than that just walking down the street every day of the week

Normally plenty of parking spaces near the entrance to Tesco.
If I was having a bad day, I would go when it is quiet to make sure I could get near enough the entrance without using disabled spaces.
I have to put my hand up to using the disabled spaces at our doctors on a bad day...but it is my own fault for not applying for a badge, doc told me years ago that I should.
I think the note is a tad uncalled for to be honest, written by a moron.

That's not true, Dollface. Tesco has apparently started to fine customers...
"Tesco has gone a step further than persuasion - reasoning that if drivers are willing to ignore a polite request they are less likely to enjoy paying a hefty fine.
In a trial at one of its Leicester sites, drivers are fined £40 if they don't display a disabled parking badge, rising to £60 if they fail to pay within a week."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3485239.stm
If you are disabled and park in a disabled bay, you should display a badge. If you don't have a badge, get one. If you can't get one, you're probably not disabled enough to warrant having one.

Ah here's where i got it from - http://money.aol.co.uk/2015/05/06/young-mum-insulted-for-using-disabled-parking-bay/
"Although she hasn't yet had her application for a Blue Badge approved, it's not required by Tesco." :fist:
They're making it up :fist:
A rather more flattering picture than the one in the first post, too...
what everyone seems to be forgetting is that aside from anything else, tesco car parks are private land and so not covered by any laws whatsoever with regard to disabled parking, so she was actually perfectly within her rights to park where she did

The car park being private land makes no difference if disabled bays are provided and a badge is required by the company. There are zebra crossings in supermarket car parks, you are still required to stop if a pedestrian is on one.

She reminds me facially a little bit of Mary before she got zombified in Shaun of the Dead. Speaking of Zombies, I found some Zombie Garden Gnomes online, am tempted to buy one now for the garden :D
I was only saying the other day I want to start collecting garden gnomes

the person is definitely a coward. if the person saw this woman parking (which she must have how else did she know the woman was fat and ugly?) then why didn't the person confront her on the spot?

I was waiting for just such a predictable response. I'm seriously beginning to think that certain Tibbies just DO NOT LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD or need to GET OUT MORE.
In any event I really DO NOT APPRECIATE it continually being implied that I am a liar just because I state TRUTHS on here which are OUTSIDE YOUR particular limited or sheltered experience.
I have owned a portfolio of 76 rented properties in my time - some of which I still retain - so I have had plenty of experience with rogue tenants.
I have had almost two decades of direct experience with all types and races of immigrants - good, bad and ugly.
I personally KNOW claimants with disgustingly large families who are in receipt of obscene amounts of benefits, and who could work if it were not for breeding babies like flies to different absentee fathers under a banal system which encourages them to do so because it rewards them far more than they could ever earn by working for a living and only breeding children which they can afford like the rest of us chumps.
I also personally KNOW MANY people who are in receipt of DISABILITY and MOBILITY BENEFITS who DO PLAY FOOTBALL, TRAIN AT THE GYM, AND DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY come weekends. I also know one guy who was awarded MOBILITY FOR LIFE, then THE DSS PAID FOR HIM TO TAKE A HEAVY GOODS VEHICLE DRIVING COURSE costing several thousands of pounds. He has, for a long time now been employed as a long distance lorry driver whilst also in receipt of full mobility allowance.
The rules HAVE since been changed but this guy is not the only one to enjoy this ludicrous arrangement.
I have NEVER reported anyone in my life apart from one particularly lying tenant who did a moonlight from a detached house I owned in Burnley owing me several thousands of pounds, but who - without my knowledge - continued to claim and receive housing benefits to the tune of several more thousand of pounds.
Even though I DID report this scumbag fraudster, the response from the Housing Benefit department was to 'rip the cheque up and bin it' with no thought for all the other payments he had ALREADY illegally received.
I do not like your attitude Cherie so I would appreciate it from now on if you ignore my posts as I will ignore yours - I am tired of being called a liar and having to defend my posts just because MY experiences are not YOURS.
Thank you.

You didn't ask for my opinion but you got it anyway because that, Kirky, is what a forum is. Who are you to think you can repress someone else's thoughts or opinions?
You have a right to post and Cherie has a right to comment on what you post. I won't rise to your predictable and rather basic attempts at trying to make this personal when it isn't.

Remember your words when I impose my opinion upon you. OK.
And as for 'making it personal' - you have a long and practised history of cutting in angrily on various threads where I was not even engaged in any kind of conversation with you, to make highly personal and offensive remarks, so do me a favour and take your baloney elsewhere.
I have NEVER sought to 'repress' anyone else's 'thoughts and opinions' - that's the sole Modus Operandi of the Liberal Left, anti-UKIP, anti-Truth, anti-UK, anti-Democracy, anti-Christian, pro-Immigrant, pro-IS, pro-Benefit Scroungers faction on here; to shout the loudest in greater numbers and portray ANYONE not AGREEING with their skewed ideologies as 'Racist','xenophobic'or 'idiots' or 'Liars'.
