If you go on FB every person is saying why are there no normal people!!!! Too many celebs.
There are loads of normal people with normal jobs in the cast:
Fast food manager
Cafe girl
local councillor
etc.
There all normal jobs

3 models, 2 musicians, a few of them know "celebs", have been on TV before. Yes so many normal everyday people.
(for someone trying to avoid the cast [for my sins], I'd rather not see a thread title saying how everybody on here dislikes it. That doesn't fill me with hope for Tuesday)

I don't care what they do as long as they're decent housemates
I agree - I really don't care if they're normal people or not that much as long as they're entertaining. Back in the Channel 4 days there was still housemates who weren't very normal - Nikki for one had been on TV before.

What everyone needs to ask themselves are 'normal people' willing to spend 10 weeks out of work and on a TVs show?

I'm a little disappointed that a lot of them are connected in some way to 'celebrity' but I'm not going to judge them until I see them in the house. If they're entertaining then that's all that matters.

about 5 housemates are not really normal, but a lot them are.

Yeah it's getting quite annoying tbh. To me it feels like towie/the hills 2.0 and not big brother
Even though the cast looks great i prefer normal people with no tv/media background

That's very true - also added to the fact Big Brother now generally kills potential careers in media and doesn't open doors probably means only these type of people want to go on.
There's 5 who I would consider normal people - the rest have been on TV/are models ect.
Chloe, Joel, Nick, Harriet and Sarah are the ones I think are 'normal'.

I don't really care about the status of the HMs. It's about entertainment.
All I'm seeing on twitter & Fb is people moaning about how disappointed they are. Give them a chance to actually get in the house people!
On the plus side, early launch of HMs did the job. People are talking.

We live in an age of zelebrity - thanks to Big Brother. The show is just attracting the same kind of people who've exploited the different avenues of fame that 15 years of reality television and a decade of social media have made so easily available.

This is one of the most normal series ever.
Firstly, all the people that have hinted they are models, are not actually only models. They do it on the side, they have other occupations. Lets look for example...
Chloe- Office Admin
Christian- Currently a Science university student (who raps, swims and does modelling on the side)
Danny- Demolition Man
Keiran- Self employed (so it's something hands on like gardening, builder etc...)
Joel- Councillor
Adjoa- Student
Nick- No qualifications, maybe (but not sure), he is unemployed as it doesn't say anything
Harriet- Works in a café
Aaron- Personal shopper and beauty therapist
It doesn't get more "civilian" than that. And that's only the ones that we know of. The others may also have "normal" jobs.

I don`t care if their normal or not just as long as their great housemates, we didn`t hate last years housemates because they were in the media but because they were horrific people

Thing is you see people moan and say this cast should be on CBB because they've been on TV. Yet if any of this cast were actually on CBB the same people would moan they are not celebs and don't deserve to be on CBB.
It's as normal of a cast as we will get on BB these days. Gone are the days you will get a house full of people who have never been on TV and have no connections to agents and celebs. As long as we don't recognize any of them (which I'm sure 90% of viewers do not) then they are 'civilians'.
The only thing I care about really is if they are a good and entertaining cast. Couldn't care less if one has a TOWIE friend or one went on a gameshow 5 years ago, if they are a good housemate that's all that counts.

lmao what does "Real people" even mean??? How can someone not be real?
I think we would all like to go back to the days where people went onto the show without an so much of an agenda. However, what I think people forget is that the media landscape is not as it was 10 years ago in the early days of Big Brother. There are now an abundance of shows in which the most 'normal' of people can be catapulted into the limelight, whether it's just because they appeared on TOWIE or in a game show.
From looking at their bios, we have a relatively normal bunch this year, whilst there are a few people mixed in who have been on our TV screens before. It's so easy for people to try to become a 'celebrity' these days, and thanks to social media it has become easier for people to be in the 'spotlight', per se.
We are never going to get another series of Big Brother where literally everyone has no media background to a certain extent. Big Brother as a format is not what it used to be, either, and people tend to go on the show with some sort of agenda these days.
Personally, I think people should stop complaining and face up to the reality that there is always going to be a mix of some housemates who have some sort of media background.

We are fully aware that they are recruits. The same can unfortunately be said the majority of C5 housemates. I couldn't care less that they are recruits as long as they can entertain me for 10 weeks.

I agree with the Facebookers, I don't understand C5's logic at all and I'm so angry at them for ruining a great show, especially when their celebrity series' are brilliant!
This could be the exact same cast as any other channel 5 series, there's nothing special about any of them, they're just young beautiful people. The old woman is destined to leave within a fortnight and the old bloke is a character I've seen 20 times over.

Just read their bios. 80% of them have some sort of claim to fame. It's like they aim for an unrealistic cast. Channel 5 basically give us three celebrity series' nowadays, 2 of which for people ending their career and one of them for people hoping to start one.

One of these has their own radio show, one is a councillor and publishes his own magazine, two of these is obviously fame hungry hence revisiting a place where shes treated like a celeb and the other being a self-proclaimed bitch. So your left with 5/14 normal people at best and even then, they're not reflective of the UK. They're just beautiful people with spare time. Same as every other C5 series.

[QUOTE=Withano;7754651]One of these has their own radio show, one is a councillor and publishes his own magazine/QUOTE]
And??? What's wrong with that. It's like people aren't alowed to have a decent job. Having your own radio show hardly qualifies as being a celebrity, maybe well known amongst your local area but not famous. Also, didn't Eugene have his own radio show iirc?

It honestly doesn't bother me as much anymore. None of them are really that famous, aside from a few bits and pieces, personally I didn't know any of them before this, but then again I don't watch a load of things on TV etc.
As long as they are fun housemates, it doesn't bother me. I've been hoping for a more light-hearted and comedic series, and this looks like the perfect bunch. They've all got really good qualities to them, and I've enjoyed reading the snippet of interviews we got from Digital Spy.
This is the first time in quite a while where I actually like a lot of the housemates before the show has even started.
