He doesn't have a job and spends most of the time in his dressing gown watching cartoons. His life is like that of a mental patient, so yep he's prob the most normal in there

He really has nothing to be arrogant about, even pie head is a manager in mcdonalds. Nick prob couldn't even afford mcdonads on his benifits.
But seriously though he does seem rather sweet and a bit overawed by the whole thing.

Is family is rich, isn't it?
I liked him the minute he admitted he was a total twat with no friends, would never get a girlfriend, was **** in bed and definitely wouldn't win due to to him being loatheable! Refreshingly honest and rather endearing.

I don't know. It's a shame if they are and they're not encouraging him to study or work.

I think they're probably wealthy, so he must be used to doing nothing.

He looked nervous as hell the way he kept fixing and stroking his own hair over and over during his entry on launch night.
He's obviously meant to be a villain, to further the producers' agenda of class resentment.
Ross.

Joel seems the most normal to me. Aside from his strong interest in politics which I suppose might be a bit unusual for somebody so young, he seems very normal apart from that. (I'm Irish and have no interest or knowledge about his politics really).
Nick is slightly less normal if he comes from a very wealthy family and was expelled from both private and public schools. No mention of him ever having had a job either as he seemingly walked out of mcdonalds after 30 minutes. By no means crazily weird but less normal than a lot of people.
Joel seems like a parent's dream child, very cute, respectable demeanour, intelligent and able to argue his case but at the same time open-minded to other peoples views (both Visage and posters here who met him in auditions described his as openminded or interested in their story or views - I read it in his fan thread), hardworking and ambitious, president of his student union a real "go getter" essentially and just a generally nice chap.
Nick seems the complete opposite on paper at least. Expelled from 2 schools, never held down a job as saw himself as "better" than McDonalds and walked out in 30 mins. On paper he would seem like somebody I would dislike as I would see him as a useless lazy snob who thought he was too good to work but I must say his vt really interested me.
When he started describing himself as "loathsome" I thought it was an interesting choice of word. Usually as part of their VT 'acts' housemates say ****e such as "oh I'm a mega bitch" or "I'm a ladies man" or "I'll be your worst nightmare" and it's usually just all talk.
When Nick said that he really had no friends and that he was under no illusion that his friends were real, that he knew they were just using him because of his wealth/status that really peaked my interest, then describing himself as loathsome I felt that more than being just an act he might really believes he's a terrible person in some way that nobody come possibly really like. Then when Emma was beside him he was just a giant bag of nerves and you could see all that "bad schoolboy" persona just gone completely. His hands and voice were shaking.
On entering the house, there's a bit where Jack asks him "what do you do?", Nick does an incredibly awkward laugh says "erm I do nothing" before very swiftly turning the same question to Jack. I imagine him as somebody who underneath the bravado possibly feels like a complete failure at life so far and who has very low confidence in himself now because of mistakes he made in school.
So yes, on the surface I find Joel a bit more 'normal' really.
Joel and Nick are complete polar opposites but both were my launch night favourites. :)
(Jack is pretty normal too except that he seems a bit immature for someone in their early twenties and comes across much younger.)

He seems quite normal but I think Chloe is the most.
Nick is my favourite so far.

I'm not sure now actually. Just saw him being referred to as as "rich kid" in the papers. Just after reading his interview with Digital Spy now and it seems his parents do have money but he hates the "rich kid" label as he has no money himself. So not sure what his parents do.
Excerpt from interview:
Nick's not too happy with the 'rich kid' label.
"Oh, of course," he drawled when we brought it up. He said he isn't bothered by it too much, though: "My parents have worked hard for their money. I've not made any money myself. I'm not a rich kid at all. I've got no money in my bank account." And he described being stereotyped as "a natural force".
"That's why it's nice sometimes to change people's opinion around," he said. "So walking in the house, maybe if I did get the public to think I wasn't a rich kid or spoilt, maybe that would be nice. I just don't think I'm going to get enough time. I think I'm going to be targeted pretty quick. I'm an easy target. I'm not an alpha male. I hope I don't, but I think I will."
When he said in his vt that his so called friends were only using him I assumed it was in relation to his money, but not sure?

Yeah I'd say that's true.
Edit:
He does also say in that interview that when he leaves he's hoping to get a job, a girlfriend, and some friends. He will enjoy his five minutes of fame but those three things are what he seems most interested in. I wish him well. He puts himself down so much that I hope he gains a bit of confidence through this experience. :)

Couldn't agree more.
I found them on lunch night somewhat quite similar in their basics - only Joel did cease the most of his potential, while Nick seems to crawl under a defensive approach (as an expression of anger or frustration with people, a youth in revolt? maybe he suffered a lot from being categorized rich-boy, explains his renouncement of the label). [ENDOFJUDIJAMESSECTION]
I liked them both on launch night and I'd like to see how they evolve in there.
