New housemates have been fairly absent since the show's move to Channel 5, especially compared to the last few series' of C4's Big Brother. Was this a choice made by C5 alone, or did the public have an input in this? Were NuHousemate twists liked?

I'm quite torn on this matter. On the one hand, I like having a new face to look at because I often get very bored of watching the same people all the time, but on the other hand, it seems they have an unfair advantage, especially if they join extremely late (Nicole BB9, Sam BB11, Pav & Co BB15).

What do you think?

This house could do with some new housemates.

I think so too. I'm finding the current ones quite unlikeable and simply stale.

Yes. Especially with this lot. Inject some new life. Say it's a day 1 timebomb or whatever the hell they have to do, just put in some characters to drive them up the wall.

Yess especially if there is a secret house

Yess especially if there is a secret house

Secret rooms have been done to death now, which is a shame because I used to really like them.

Secret rooms have been done to death. Although we haven't had a secret house for a very long time!

Given the size of the task rooms they could easily convert this into a small house? All they need to add in is a small kitchen, living area and small bedroom.

Yes I love new housemates! They should add in 4 next week as thats when BB normally launches, they could heavily promote and call it Big Brother live launch and eviction.

Have a 2 hour special show with 2 getting evicted and maybe 5 going in which leaves 15 housemates.

No it stinks of desperation. New housemates should only arrive in the case of people walking or getting kicked out anything else just looks like a desperate attempt to save a failing series.

No. I agree with Bobnot.

In some cases that's true (BB11, BB15), but I think if it's done well, it's great. The HND twist in BB7 was especially gripping to watch at the time.

I love it when new people come in. It completely unsettles them - whatever your thoughts on BB15, it was really the day 2 housemates coming in that set off the tone for the entire series. The day 1's had already completely settled and were getting on.

Yes, I quite liked the two-part live launch.

Yes but maybe it's important they're big characters.

Ideally someone who can challenge other big characters already in there.
Perhaps someone to turn the power base on it's head.

A celebrity would be good to stop hero worship of house leader.

Not gonna happen but then you could put in someone's relative, friend etc.
With the advantage of someone that's seen what's already happened on the outside
And is going to tackle someone over it. ;)

Someone feisty like Charley who came out then went back in again (but brand new)

Another twist could be they (and chosen friend / relative) keep it amongst themselves and pretend they don't know each other.

Last thing we need is a quiet housemate who finds it hard to fit in etc.
Unless they're a real stunner or something. But even that's no guarantee if they're shy.

I can't remember the last time a new housemate added anything to the show.

Depends whether they are like Zoe and Pav or not.

More housemates and more evictions for me, they're the two best things about the show.

Yas. It refreshes a series. I like them coming usually around week three/four. Five at the latest. The Armageddon housemates came far too late last year for the public to make a connection with them.

Yes, it is always interesting to see how the present HMs respond to new people
