Nope....its all political and neighbouring countries all vote for each other. I honestly don't know why we bother

Yes if we take it seriously and send a song that Europe would actually bloody like, not just something we think "stands out".

They preach about it being "all about the music" but it's evident year in-year out you see neighbouring countries giving high point amounts to one another.

Part of the problem is we don't imo. It's not solely geography, but some neighbourly voting is inevitable when they're going to be very close culturally. It's not impossible to do well though, it was only a few years ago we came 5th the only time we actually put the effort in and had Jade Ewen. Australia did very well despite having no geographical or political ties with most of Europe. It says a lot that even countries like Ireland and Malta only gave us a point each last night, most of the problem was with the act. Germany and Austria had the same problem - two countries who have won it very recently (Austria last year obviously) but this year got 0 points because they did not put forward a good enough act.
It's true that we do have to work harder than most countries to do well but we just resign ourselves to defeat every year by not trying hard enough and then we moan when we only pick up a few points.
