Personally I thought the live feed was boring and who else remembers all those annoying bird noises that constantly happen? Where you cant even hear any of the housemates talking.

If they brought in live feeds i would hope they would be like BBCAN live feeds where no conversation is bleeped out.
Also reason for wanting live feeds means production can't try to portray things that aren't really happening by manipulating the scenes which they do show.

As an old skool Channel 4 viewer the live feed made the show unmissable. The gossip at night was great - ok so we got used to the sounds of birds (sound cut when things were said we were not allowed to listen to) but it simply made the show without it an hour of catchup is simply not enough :( we would all watch them sleep too! someone turned over .. I see a foot a foot! lol It's hard to explain without be sounding like a babbling fool but none of us slept during BB season we would simply watch 24/7 (if we could) lol

Well said Sue (i am one of those old skool C4'ers........those were the Golden Days of BB!!!!)
When we had proper livefeed we got a much better idea of the housemates true personalities and a lot of the time they were extremely different to the way they were trying to portray them on the highlight's show!
It was also far more difficult for production to give us a spoon-fed BS load of lies because we were seeing so much more.
And (apart from the annoying tweeting birds, which you do get used to!) i used to just like to have it on in the background while i was doing something else. If an argument kicked-off i could stop what i was doing (usually playing guitar or my Playstation!) and catch the full, unadulterated fight in full.
In general it was a great thing and i for one sorely miss it.

Too right!!!
I'm sure the whole 'fight night' thing with Victor, Michelle, Jason and that lot unfolded during the Livefeed because if i remember correctly they actually cut the feed when Security had to go in.
Classic stuff!!!!:cheer2:
I know not everyone's a fan of Russel Brand but when he was doing Big Mouth , Dermot was doing Little Brother (especially the Friday evening pre eviction show episodes and the Sunday afternoon one!) and we had livefeed BB was just in a whole different league!!!!! I used to look forward to it so much back then.
Russel Brand was like a force of nature doing Big Mouth..................it was just incredible. Best (in my opinion!) BB Spin-Off show EVER!!!!!

Yeah, those all-night tasks were great when we had livefeed!!!!
I cannot understand why they don't do the 3/4 day tasks anymore. They were brilliant and used to create all the storylines. There was no need for manufactured arguments. They have got lazy with the tasks. The "in the dark" task recently had potential but it was over before it had begun.
The live feed was an integral part of BB. We got to know the true personalities and not the " character" BB chose to create for them. By the end of the series you almost felt that you knew them. Seeing events unfold prior to the show created the buzz for watching the highlights and also created headlines for the newspapers. Even if you chose not to watch live feed there was always someone reporting on it to create the buzz on the forums etc.
The other thing that riles me is that the whole concept of BB has gone, meddling with noms, outside interference etc.
I've been watching since about bb3/5 and i never used to watch them that much. I found it boring, it was good background tv but I'd never willingly sit there and watch it. Therefore I think it would be quite a waste on me tbh

That's the point though. A lot of people didn't sit and watch it but if anything unfolded news would get out and it would create interest for the highlights show etc. That in turn would result in more people tuning in.

I'd never watch it in case it ruined anything really. Reality tv has changed as well, people don't have the time anymore really, less people are watching tv, or even watching tv live in a whole. I don't think it would work anymore. Part of me would like to see it happen because it would add a sense of transparency, but it isn't something that I could see audiences of today would want.

I didn't watch it as such. If I was home I had it on in the background and if anything interesting cropped up you could see the events as they occurred. It's not the fact of people sitting watching it. It just created the hype for the highlights shows and the media got more involved because they could report on the events before they were shown on the highlights. All of this aids in bringing viewers in.

I liked LF because you actually got to know the housemates, not just which characters the producers had decided to edit them into...
Calderyon
25-05-2015, 09:42 AM
Because without live feed itīs not really Big Brother. And without it you cannot get to know the housemates fully and truthfully as opposed to the strongly edited and only certain housemates favoring 42-45 minutes show.
Even BB Finland production (how ever incompetent they are in anything else) have understanded that a 24/7 live stream is the core of the program and without it itīs just another reality TV program. They also know that people are willing to pay for it, and thatīs why we pay 39.99 € (43,90 USD/28.34 GBP) for it.

It'll never be 24hr again so don't even bother tbh. They could bring back the nightly 2hour feed next year but I don't see it happening. It's a shame but tbf we've got used to it since BB9 (minus BB11)

^ I know. Itīs just odd that why it isnīt. (I donīt believe it costs too much, that is total bollocks. If countries like Serbia, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Albania and India can afford it, then it doesnīt cost too much)
But then again not really, as with limited or no live feed, they can fully control what we see and hear, and can steer the show in a preferred direction to their convenience.

25-05-2015, 10:25 AM
Yeah personally I was never really bothered about live feed. I watched it once or twice and whenever I watched it it would just be two housemates sunbathing for fifteen minutes barely talking with some birds tweeting in the background.
Yeah it's not on my priorities for change for the show.
I liked LF because you actually got to know the housemates, not just which characters the producers had decided to edit them into...
This basically.
Even when I was busy doing other things I always had live feed on in the background, also late at night you used to get some good lenghty unedited conversations from the housemates.
And don't forget LF made BB into what it is (supposed to be) and caused it to being so popular with the public, the whole concept of sticking a group of people in a confined space and watching them 24 hours a day.

Live feed gives us more of a chance to get to know the housemates, gives us a greater understanding of them and also creates talking points with friends, family and on forums like this.
It's a joke really that C5 don't air live feed nightly on 5* or C5 for at least 60mins (should be a few hours really). If countries across the world can run 24/7 live feed then surely we can run 2 hours a night live feed. I doubt it costs that much to run at all, you need, what, a director, two or three live editors and someone to oversee they're not airing anything that breaks regulations. Scrap some of the crap they waste money on BOTS and shift that money to live feed.
I don't buy the 'not enough people watch it' argument either. I highly doubt during the C4 days they had millions of people watching live feed on E4's red button at 3am...
There is only one reason they don't air live feed, and that's because it stops them from manipulating the main highlights show, and that's why Big Brother is slowly being run into the ground. Fans, and even casual viewers have lost one of the fundamentals of Big Brother and they know they're being force fed a fake storyline each episode. Big Brother was never meant to be aired like that, it's meant to be natural and basic, with no heavy editing. I accept they need this fancy editing to keep up with the times although they need to realise that the public aren't thick enough to enjoy these fabricated storylines. The producers treat Big Brother like TOWIE, but the Big Brother audience is too intelligent for stuff like that.
Live feed isn't the be-all and end-all, although it is a fundamental of the show and something we should at least be getting a few hours of a night. Like I've said various times on this forum. C5 and 5* moreso hardly have massive viewing figures at night and simply 2-5 hours of live feed a night would not cost much, not affect 5*/C5 viewing figures (might even improve them very slightly) and create more of a talking point. Fans will engage more with the show on forums, casual viewers will talk to their friends more about highlights of the live feed, word will spread and while it won't give the main show millions more viewers, I think it would help the figures far more as people will feel more engaged with the show. As opposed to now where we're being pushed away and given very little content.

Utter rubbish
Live feed does allow us to get to know house mates much better. It also dispels all the talk (right or wrong) that the producers are manipulating the highlights to show particular housemates in a good/bad light. That is the biggest thing for me as the highlight show has too much of a scripted feel to it.
Vicky.

How much people would pay for it? 10-30 pounds?
In a reference to my earlier post, we paid 40 euros (approximately 28 pounds) for our stream, which is a lot, but what you get is 24/7 non-stop uncensored live feed with 6 cameras, a chat and an exclusive chance to vote on certain events in the house.
The 28 pounds was for whole season pass. There were also 1 month, 1 week and 1 hour passes too.

Yeah Ģ10-Ģ30 would be fine to pay for live feed.
If they maybe offered
- Ģ10 CBB series pass (valid for one series)
- Ģ20 civilian series pass (valid for one series)
- Ģ30 year pass (inc 2 x CBB series and 1 x civilian series- overall saving Ģ10)
I think something along those lines would attract fans and casual viewers too. They can easily plug it on social media to attract people to buy it. The single payments would work for casual viewers, as many people will spare 10 to 20 quid without feeling robbed, then 30 quid will suit dedicated fans who are happy to pay a higher amount in one payment while saving money.

Simple enough... There's 16 people in the house and only 45 minute shows to get to know them. Back when there was a live feed you could actually get a good sense of who they are and begin to either like or loathe them. either way you cared about them. Something it is becoming increasingly impossible to do, hence the crap viewing figures.

Loved abit of LF.Did'nt watch it constantly but would sometimes just lay in bed and watch and sometimes there would be some drama.Nothing beat fight night live for me.It was exciting at the time.Or i'd come in at 3am after a night out and sit and watch until i passed out.You would see the extent of the editing too,Sometimes it would be very heavily edited.I can imagine the clips we see now would be unrecognisable to what is actually happening.

on any BB with live feeds some really good moments happen and you miss most or a good amount from the edit version on tv. hell even a good amount doesnt even make the show. of course there is gonna be a good amount of boring bits but when the good stuff happens its worth it. i could always watch or do something while i had the feeds still on if it was being a drag.

As the big brother Canada producer said it keeps big brother honest they can't make up stuff that isn't true
What the BB Canada producer does not mention is the feed downtime (for competitions, live evictions, big tasks, visitors and other stuff), which at times can be brutal. (Or so i assume, i donīt watch BB Canada feeds). I think it ranges from 4 hours to 10 hours.
And on that time the manipulations, making up stuff and unfair edits happen.
