Is Eileen being bullied over her age?

Twitter has jumped to the defence of Big Brother housemate Eileen Daly, following another row over age.

In tonight's episode of the Channel 5 reality show, Eileen had an argument with Kieran over the amount of sleep she gets.

Kieran and Eileen were talking on the sofa and Kieran asked her: “how much sleep do you usually have?”

She replied: "Seven hours."

Kieran was surprised and said: "I thought they say as you get older you sleep less, the older generation I speak to have a minimum of 3 to 4 hours."

Later, Eileen returned to Kieran with a score to settle, she said: "You are an educated man why do you think that because I am fifty I need more sleep it’s kind of insulting and it offended me."

Kieran replied: "If I have offended you I am sorry it’s just my older friend’s do. It was a silly thing to insinuate did you take it personal?"

Eileen replied: "Yeah I did."

This follows a number of conversations Eileen has had in the house about her age.

The conversation caused a mixed reaction on Twitter and really started a debate.

One user said: "#BBEileen is not too old. She is an amazing edition to the house. C'mon Eileen #BBTimeBomb"

Another posted: "Kieran getting aggressive, Cristian sticking his oar in yet again. #bbuk #BBEileen"

While another posted: "Go on Eileen! Repping us ladies of a certain age! Woo! #BBEileen #BBUK #BBTIMEBOMB"

However, another posted: "Eileen is over-sensitive about the age issue. Can't really take to her at the moment. Show your fun self, be you! #bbuk"

Channel 5 has been contacted for comment.



I think it's too early to say that she's being bullied, but if the agism continues BB will have to step in

All HMs will be BB fans and to a certain extent will know what to expect.Eileen would have been well aware that often younger HMs will be making noise into the small hours yet she still chose to participate so if this is the only issue RE her age then imo its not discrimination and she will do herself few favours by pressing it.If there are other reasons I have not seen them.?

I am not a fan of Kieran but I felt he handled the situation well.Jack made the point that the majority felt discriminated against by Eileen RE not feeling able to talk or laugh in the bedroom so two sides to the story.

Jim Davidson made a big issue over same yet still won the show is this playing a part in Eileens thinking.?

I don't think age should be given as a valid reason, but that is up to BB who have accepted it for some reason.
Eileen was way over the top, she has lived long enough to realise to the younger generation, anyone e over 40 is ancient, accept it, don't take it personal and move on.

I agree I think it's too early to start with the 'bullying' claims but I do think that the other housemates are nominating Eileen really unfairly just because of her age. I think BB should make anyone who tries to use Eileen's age as a reason either come up with another verified reason or nominate a different housemate.

Eileen is playing it all wrong in my opinion. She isn't a youngster yet she is trying to be one. She is a weirdo, and that's why she is not really being included. Me and my hubby are off to Mexico in 3 weeks, with our sons, their girlfriends and some of their mates. They friends are all glad we are going because we have fun and enjoy life, we are intelligent, have lots to say, and never try to convince people that we are special spirits or that we have a third eye!

I think that helps, when you are trying to make friends
