If they've contracted the show for 10 weeks, they aren't able to shorten it due to the broadcasting rights etc.

rumours suggested its cut to 32 days bc it says 32 episodes on tv guideline or something like that, it might be a mistake only

That's my fault - I shared it onto Twitter, it's a mistake only by the looks of it.

Oh wow, is it really doing that badly? I would have thought anything over 1m viewers would be classed as a success for c5 really, unless its even under that :S

I don't think they could make it 32 days unless there is like a quadruple eviction every week. Wouldn't surprise me with these producers though.

Same Vicky this is exactly what I've been thinking everyone's been calling it a 'ratings crisis' but over 1m or over a 5% share is probably good for C5. Maybe if it was C4 it would be a ratings crisis but even then Indian Summers has been renewed for another three series I heard and that got under 1m viewers :umm2:

'bigblaggeruk: They are hoping for a surge in viewers next week after tonight. If that doesn't happen then the series will end earlier than planned

Well that's stupid since it's BGT week. If the quad was next week it might have worked in their favour.

We're still going to have 12 housemates by the end of tonight, highly doubt there's only 14 days left.

Indian Summers is the most expensive thing ever produced by C4.

C4's budget is bigger and supported by government funding

C5 is out of Viacoms back pocket only

Are they really that clueless?

If they put 10-15 normal people in the house, had good tasks, normal nominations, no twists, and live feed, then the viewership would double.

They can't see that they have killed the golden goose by persistently messing with it and insulting the intelligence of the public.

I also read somewhere that one of the American channels was giving funding

Are the producers stupid? It's going to be clashing directly with BGT and Corrie tonight during the 9pm hour which is going to bring it's average rating down anyway, they should've left the quad eviction until next week when there's less competition if they're desperately trying to get the ratings up.

As a fan of the show since day 1, I'm really upset to read this, I really hope these rumours are false, cause personally I think this has been a cracking series .....so far. I would really be upset to see civillian BB dropped from our screens.

They should reduce the amount of mirrors reflecting through purple patterned glass onto blue and orange glitter through reflective wardrobe doors behind shocking pink polka dot walls reflected onto glittery green windows in front of pink and purple mirrored furniture.
I'm getting a headache.

I've always been one to quash speculation as rubbish, but this seems reminiscent to the end of the C4 days. I think they'll honour the contract until 2018, but will civvy BB survive?

Calderyon
29-05-2015, 01:48 PM
Does it say in their contract that they have to do BB and CBB until 2018 or is it just that as long as they are airing either one, they are honoring their contract?

Jack_
29-05-2015, 01:49 PM
Put it this way, if they reduce the length of the series I won't be watching the summer CBB

And if they axe the civilian series completely I won't be watching the show again

Calderyon

^ I think thatīs their eventual plan though. I guess they donīt see it as a money bringing show. (the civilian version)

They could make it so that i could be, but i guess they donīt see it as worthy of their time and effort.

They contracted both, so must show both.

Oh I knew ever since it was brought to C5 with their obsession with CBB that they'd eventually axe the civilian show, but when they do, I'm done too

This is what I've been saying. They've picked the worse time possible to do this, with it only being announced Wednesday at 11pm.

They should have definitely waited until next week, announced it Sunday and left a whole week for the news and hype to spread.

maybe they had these four new ones ready to go in at some stage, had contracted them to go in, but if the show is cut, they can't break the contract so are sticking them all in together tonight to give them a couple of weeks in the show. Maybe thats why four are in and four are out.

I can't imagine they make much money out of the celeb series. Firstly you have to pay the celebs, secondly the viewing figures are only good in January but much less so in the summer series. And furthermore, I think it's a myth that Channel 5 do the Celebrity series any better than they do anything else. The only truly great series was with Jim Davidson. The Hopkins one earlier this year wasn't bad, but beyond that I don't think I can remember any of them.

I also think they've earned themselves even more bad will than they had after last years civilian series. The whole thing reeks of idiocy. And more and more people are giving up on it.

Obviously Channel 5 have looked at the ratings and thought **** the fans we are going to make this a repeat of the January series and bring back Simon for the Perez Show 2.0, time for the biased and nastiness to appear.

If this series were to be shortened, would we likely see this happen for the other commissioned 3 years of the civillian show? And speaking of which, if the show gets the chop, how does it work with the other 3 contracted years, surely it'd cost a fortune to get out of?
