The time machine which evicted Kieran and Harriet was the cheapest **** I've ever seen on a television show.
The more I think about it all the less sense it makes.
As a result of no live coverage we've struggled to get to know or care about these housemates, but then just as people are starting to care about them they evict them for new housemates who those who are still watching will struggle to know and care about all over again.
It's just one desperate stunt after another and it has brought the show into such disrepute the only possible thing that could save the show is a return to the original format: Big Brother: Back To Basics. By now though I think it's beyond help and I can't see how it doesn't get cancelled.
Sad to see a show I enjoyed following so much from Nasty Nick getting caught out to Dean and Bubble keeping the camp fire going and Helen and Paul in the love shack to Spencer, PJ, Jade and Kate staying up all night to Victor plotting away whilst Jason moisturized his body, Craig lusting after Anthony, Nikki making me die with laughter when she was ranting in the diary room drunk all the way up to Ben looking like Ross out of Friends whilst playing Shirley Bassey on his keyboard. I don't care what the critics say... This show was fun!
But what a tragic mess this show has been turned into by these utterly inept people who show no understanding for it whatsoever.
Jason.

Armageddon was worse, IMO.
But I'm gutted we lost two big characters and dullard Danny is still in there.
The new housemates are crap, too.
Totally not worth the replacement.

Channel 5 really chanced its arm here. But i think its back fired. they should have thought of something different. even a secret room or something. anyone would know sending 4 out at once can't be a good thing. thats 6 gone in 2 days. 2 would have been enough .

DS poster got it spot on...
Since the series moved to Channel 5, Channel 5 made a big point about no longer needing the old Channel 4 viewers. They were old, they didn't know how to use social media, in fact they were an irritant they'd rather get rid of. I think that what they're trying to tell you is that if you're a BB viewer who used to watch it on Channel 4, then you're no good, and you probably stink a little bit like poo too.
Because people have to 'move on' and make way for this brand new modern breed of viewer which Channel 5 have in mind. A new, fresh, dynamic, computer literate viewer. That's the demographic they're now going for, and who the advertisers want to sell their wares to.
And in Channel 5's imagination, this brand new modern BB viewer they have conjured up in their mind, is fickle, only wants the arguing, likes TOWIE, likes 'I'm a Celebrity', it has a short attention span, so wants instant gratification.
It's all there on a spreadsheet, the marketing people and analytic TV data boffins have told them so.
So year on year they decimate their audience. Out with the old, bring in the new. Short attention spans however need constant feeding. When they get bored they're going to go and move on to some other shiny thing which has caught their attention.
So we end up in a situation where many of the old CH4 viewers leave, and any new viewers probably come and go, but they're not enough to keep up with the exodus of viewers they're experiencing at the same time.
So they try and find out what the problem is and refer to the business spreadsheet of their ideal demographic of this new Channel 5 BB viewer that they're trying to target,..... and then come to the horrific realisation that Oh no, This perfect Channel 5 demographic of the ideal BB viewer they want may not have actually existed in the first place.
Or at the very least, they failed to realise the extent to which that very type of viewer they were aiming to catch isn't going to be a loyal viewer who will hang around for long.
So now if they try to revert back to an earlier model of BB they have the problem they have made for themselves where they have alienated so many of the old viewers they can't get enough of them back to watch the show. And all they are left with are a small audience who come and go but don't really hang around for long and just make a fleeting visit if something catches their attention.
Whatever they do now can't be a quick fix. They're going to need to build up from scratch and build up a loyal fanbase again over time. Which may take a very long time.
Rather than being very short-termist and trying to cater to a certain type of viewer who has a very short attention span and needs instant gratification, they should perhaps take a more long term view of the show and re-teach viewers how to get used to enjoying a more involving show which understands pacing, buildup of drama, and which viewers find interesting in terms of how the word 'interesting' used to be defined in the dictionary. A person who likes to scream and shout and thrives on conflict and histrionic drama is not the same thing as an 'interesting' housemate.
When things get bad enough they are left with two options. Try and build from the ground up, which may take a while for the viewership to grow, or simply throw the show into the bin and don't even bother with it anymore.

They certainly did !
We all enjoy "instant gratification" to an extent. Especially if it's done well.
But not everything that's gratifying is always instant.
Funny thing is, think there have been some quite interesting bits this series.
Sometimes you realise they're acting for the camera playing out a "narrative" and you spot their clever tactics as part of a gameplan.
e.g. Sarah telling Kieran she couldn't speak to Danny.
But yeah, not same as the old style.

I really enjoyed last nights show, but then I hated most of the original cast, so I would ....
The DS poster has hit the nail on the head, the only thing this show has in common with the original concept is the name. They don't want the same viewers, they are old and useless - they want new trendy viewers with a few quid in their pockets. That's what advertisers pay for.
The cast is everything in BB. If its a good cast, it doesn't matter what twists they put in, because whatever they do, it will always be a good cast. The only reason it fails to deliver now is dire casting.
Edit: Thats why i am now supporting showbiz ... i couldn't imagine a worse winner :joker:

The whole thing was a shambles. It should have been a double only with two housemates being 'replaced'.
The transition between Harriet and Kieran's eviction to the interview was one of the most painful things I have seen in recent years, and it was unfair that Harriet did not have an ad break to collect herself and see her family.
DS poster got it spot on...

Lack of live coverage is the problem. But people will go on pretending otherwise until the cows come home.

It would be so nice to have a variety of housemates back as channel4 did,I dislike all the same old,Towie types, knuckle heads and the T&A models(or supposed to be)most are airheads with nothing interesting to convey just their relationship conquests, most people are above all that and want interesting people to watch.

Complete and utter mess
A major fail for long term BB fans who enjoy watching the slow-burn natural evolution of a group of people over a long period time
A cheap fix for viewers with tiny attention spans
Who wins?
NOT the majority of loyal fans

if you read my posts you will see - I agree with you completely. I want commedy and fun - not drama and fighting. Last year was awful. Last night was awful. Im not watching whilst showbiz in the house.
But we aren't the target market anymore. Having to study advertising in marketing - anyone who watched the show in 2000 is now out of the 15-25 year old age bracket that the show is aimed at. There is some marginal advertising for 25 - 35 year olds but they are not the ones the show is aimed to.
15 - 25 year olds cant remember how great the old series were. Its never going to be the same again. And dare I say it, I dont think Emma Willis is that great. I think the crowd are awful. The interviews are embarassing/predictable - boring.
The potential of this show is huge - and they are just messing it up. Wasting such an opportunity to get this show out there so its the most watched programe. It gets slated as cheap/chavvy/reality TV - if they showed as funny/more social experiment more people would watch it.
Who cares a dam about show mances? Who cares about a fight?
